For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

BBBee · 19/01/2008 17:50

ooh - I am back in my pink hat - don;t know how I did that!

Boco · 19/01/2008 18:04

Wow I missed last nights puppy announcement and only just seen that Johnny Jet is a dog! How exciting - can he swim? Are you going to enrol on Aqua-pups?

Yes Bee, going to see that film. Although just came in from day out and both having a 'can we really be bothered to drive 45mins to norwich shall we just drink wine' type dilemma.

Bee very kind to post a photo. It looks ever so nice. Where is it gathered, I can't tell? Above bust like a railway child or below bust? If below bust, will look ruddy awful on me - makes me look exceptionally wide and barrelish. If above bust everything drapes and I would love it.

Boco it is Harold and Maude. I was going to link to a page about it or something, but they all seem to give much too much away and small snippets often make it sound appalling. It is a lovely film, very funny, black, quite sentimental, surprising, a bit culty and very uplifting and all that. I will send it when I send yours to Bee. I might watch it myself tonight if can convince dp (there will be more eye rolling)

FrannyandZooey · 19/01/2008 18:43

i mean things like distressing sweets and so on

he had a go at a wham bar but was perplexed by it and kept saying 'mmm, delicious', then looking worried and trying to scoop the sticky stringy pink goo out of his mouth

Wotz · 19/01/2008 18:48

Hi might try this 10/10 thing
I have lost all interest in food and cooking ATM
I hope your enthusiam rubs off a little.

fullmoonfiend · 19/01/2008 18:49

oh god, I loved wham bars when I was 10. They were so sweet and almost salty in their agressively flavoured way.
I don't even let ds1 eat those when he buys them with his own money!

3andnomore · 19/01/2008 18:56

Franny no idea if I got the right drift...but I assume it's about spending some cuddle time with your ds and getting the timing right being necessary? You say 6 is to early, 7 is to late, but 6.30 would be to difficult to work out? If so...would it not work to set the time wrong, so, it either says 6 or 7, but is actually 6.30? Does that make at all sense?

fmf....aren't men just brill at that ignoring childrens noises and blissfully napping....my dh is a true expert, and does drive me crazy with it...especially if he then only gets little sleep in the night and puts on the suffering act of little sleep....yeah...whateva....

Zippi, quite a Homebirth story!
Sounds like you have a lot going on in your life!

TooT sorry to hear that...your friend must be so upset

Avi, Kids are rather cunning at getting the largest amount of space in the parental bed...I always end up on the edge...grrrr....

Welcome to Wotz

Anywya, Essay is written...all 2000 words of it, the front page is done and the reference list and bibliography are also done...phew....
BBBee, thank you for your feedback on the other thread

FrannyandZooey · 19/01/2008 18:57

Hello wotz, please make yourself comfy

FMF we agreed on that one as it was at least vegetarian. I read the labels of all the others and have swopped for some mini eggs dp smartly bought on the way out

let;s all be enthusiastic for wotz. I have just had a very nice portion of vegetable stew with swede, carrots, kidney beans, mushrooms, onions, cauliflower and corn in

OverR I will do recipes I promise

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 19/01/2008 18:59

excellent idea 3and - very simple, and would work

sorry I offered no help with your essay but I didn't have a clue. Glad it is all done

OP posts:
Wotz · 19/01/2008 19:00

I will keep popping in for ideas

FrannyandZooey · 19/01/2008 19:02

OverR here is lentil thing:

8 oz continental lentils
1 onion
1 clove garlic
1 stick celery
1 lge carrot
4 oz mushrooms
1 tsp herbs
1 tbsp tom puree

Soak lentils overnight then drain and rinse. Cover with cold water in a saucepan and simmer gently until tender. Drain. Fry all veg until tender then add lentils, herbs, tom puree, salt and pepper, put in oven topped with mash. Bake for 40 mins at 200 deg / GM 6

That is the basic idea but you can jig it around loads. I sometimes add a few puy lentils, some different veg (whatever is in fridge), and mash made with sweet potato is really good also. It is surprisingly tasty recipe IMO, cheap, filling, healthy

must do bedtime

Wotz, hello! If you tell us what you normally eat we will try and help you sex VEG it up a bit..
If I say ''every little helps'', will I get stoned for Tesco Bad Supermarket advertising?

Boco · 19/01/2008 19:08

Ha ha, I like the way that Wotz arrives for good eating tips in the middle of a Wham bar discussion. Hello Wotz.

We're going to the cinema after all, booked tickets just to make sure we can't change our minds.

3andnomore · 19/01/2008 19:10

lol...better not tell Wotz what I have just eaten, then...

Anyway, now the Essay is out of the way and Kids are settled back into school, and things I WILL be better again...I put loads of weight on, and feel utterly disgusted with myself...not a pretty sight at all (not that I am much prettier when thinner, lol)...
Monday morning I will got to the shop /market, and buy lots and lots of veggies to make lots and lots of wonderful soup

ZippiBabes · 19/01/2008 19:13

hi people and wotz

i am eating an aple and have had grapes and bananas today and toast
before i go to see thec sweenet thing

fullmoonfiend · 19/01/2008 19:13

I liked the way F&Z magically produced a lentil recipe to distract people while she hid the wham bar discussion behind our organic cotton sofa cushions....

TooTicky · 19/01/2008 19:24

Hello 3, I haven't seen you for ages.

TooTicky · 19/01/2008 19:26
