Zoe Nutrition Testing

Not sure this is the right place for this...

Anyone else doing the Zoe Nutrition Testing?

My results were poor, so now I'm tackling my diet. I thought it was pretty good but it's clear it needs a major overhaul. So much information but finding it good.🙂

How are you all getting on? My kit arrived yesterday and I applied my sensor this morning. My resting reading at 8:15 was 5.4. Is that a bit high? I’m sure I read that optimal readings would be 4.7 ish. I had a cup of tea first thing so that might have altered it. Muffin day is Monday. Also we have guests staying so I might have to save poo hammock day to Monday!

QueenofWhatever · 02/07/2022 13:45

My box arrived during the week, but I haven’t started yet as I’m away camping and doing outdoorsy things next week. When I planned the days described in the leaflet, it wouldn’t have worked for days 8-14 when you have to fast for three hours as part of the experiment. I’m going with a fairly big group and didn’t think I could stand by the seashore saying ‘hold on everyone, another 45 minutes until I can check my blood sugar’. I really want to get going though!

I still have a couple of referral codes for people who want instant access: joinzoe.mention-me.com/me/referee/registerko/104246132/415561971/er/4afb2cdd0ca26fadc095f7ed17e5162579d546e2/fe/cw?epr=1

lugeforlife · 02/07/2022 15:18

@ladyandthechocolate I think it does take time for the monitor to settle. My results today are higher than yesterday and there is something about calibration in the faqs.

Today mine has bobbed around between 5 and 6.5. It was high first thing oddly but I didn't sleep wonderfully. Be interested to see what it does after a better nights kip

Iwouldliketogovegan · 02/07/2022 17:56

Weirdest readings last 24 hours. In my last 48 before the monitor comes off so thought I would push it a bit. Red wine - tiniest blip. ice cream scoop of dark chocolate in a cone - moderate. Porridge made with water, kefir and raspberries for breakfast huge spike 🤷‍♀️

Wombat27A · 02/07/2022 18:55

Yep, my "healthy" breakfast turned out to be problematic. Bananas are not so good either. 😕

OP posts:
Iwouldliketogovegan · 02/07/2022 19:17

🤔 might try making the porridge with milk tomorrow and adding peanut butter with an apple. Not sure I can cope with a future of breakfast composed of red wine and chocolate ice cream.

Iwouldliketogovegan · 02/07/2022 19:18

@Wombat27A how were beans and lentils for you?

Wombat27A · 02/07/2022 19:19

Beans & lentils are green for me. Particularly lentils. I eat my banana with a nut butter now, not perfect but I love bananas. 👌🍌😋

@Wombat27A sorry to ask another question but logging food. I logged mine today (day 2, not sure if I was meant to yet but meh).

Lots of stuff came up with 'we don't score this yet' so what is the point? I found alternatives but some of them were a bit weird - like only Tesco 0% Greek yoghurt, no normal fat Greek yog.

I guess I'm a bit worried if your diary is used for your algorithms and it's not accurate your recommendations won't be....

Wombat27A · 02/07/2022 19:36

It's not the best database. I think that's one of the compromises for being quite early in the process.

Greek yoghurt is there. Try Fage as the first word. There are some other Greek yoghurts too.

I just go for an approximate amount/substitute. They asked for feedback, so I mentioned this then. I'm not being super accurate as I make pretty much all my food, so it's not accurate anyway. I wish they had homemade bread in the database tho.

Interesting to hear about the database. Sounds the same issue at myfitnesspal back when I used it.

My monitor is on!!! I am so proud of myself!! I didn’t even feel it, it’s true. I always worried that if I ever DID get diabetes I would be too scared to test myself and would just shrivel up and die instead, so this is a good achievement for me 😄

lugeforlife · 03/07/2022 08:23

Well done @MassiveSalad22!

I'm only on day 3 and I'm fascinated! I seem to be high in the morning and lower in the afternoon which seems a bit odd.

Muffins for me today!

MassiveSalad22 · 03/07/2022 09:00

Good luck! 🧁

lugeforlife · 03/07/2022 09:02

Christ that was hard work. I had a black tea with them and it was needed.

MassiveSalad22 · 03/07/2022 09:36

Oh well done @lugeforlife 😬

am regretting putting plaster over monitor, as far as I can tell it’s not necessary and I sometimes react to plasters so don’t know what I was thinking

Wombat27A · 03/07/2022 10:35

Stick with the plaster unless it does irritate. I found I knocked the monitor a fair bit on doors as time went on. I'm clumsy & hefty tho. I thought it would irritate me too as I never wear plasters (allergic) but it was fine.

Well done on application, does take a leap of faith.

Wombat27A · 03/07/2022 10:36

Yeah, I had black coffee with mine.

Subsequent muffins are easier, taste nicer, not as dense...

One lot was really good.

chutneypig · 03/07/2022 12:05

Day 2 for me - I'm ridiculously excited by it all, I keep scanning the monitor. I think I've got my timings planned for tomorrow with the muffins, luckily I'm WFH, I had to reread the instructions several times there.

Thanks very much to @lugeforlife for the code. I've been on the waiting list for ages.

Does anyone know how running tends to affect blood sugar?

Wombat27A · 03/07/2022 13:15

My monitor was practically another pet by the end of 2 weeks. 😁

Exercise should flatten sugar curves?

OP posts:
Wombat27A · 03/07/2022 13:22

Interestingly, I've been feeling pretty good on my nut & spinach shakes, plus cheese & bulgar wheat. Had a ready meal & wine last night & my joint pain is back today. I get really sore feet, which buggers up my mobility. Who knew, might actually work. 😁

OP posts:
MassiveSalad22 · 03/07/2022 13:32

I get really sore feet too!!! Can’t get up to the kids sometimes in the night. Omg this could be life changing!! 😃😃😃

lugeforlife · 03/07/2022 14:11

I get quite achey when I wake up and also very sluggish around physical movement- I ache and hurt very easily which puts me off a lot. I've assumed this is some kind of inflammatory response so be very interested in positive outcomes here.

Second muffins were much easier. I feel like I've had a sugar crash (I did after the first ones) but monitor shows dip but not crash. Blood tests in a bit!

Wombat27A · 03/07/2022 14:50

Read all the blurb plus the words on the test itself. They're slightly different. Don't stress tho. 👍

OP posts:
MassiveSalad22 · 03/07/2022 17:00

Can’t stop testing 😄 peak (so far) 6.6 was after a kitkat, bounty and banana+almond butter in the space of 2 hours 🫣🫣 I am on my period in my defence. If it stays in the green is that ok? I guess I should minimise the readings as much as possible anyway even if within the green?

chutneypig · 03/07/2022 20:34

@MassiveSalad22 mine have been similar today, no idea if that's expected or not. In my head I was expecting it to be more dramatic.

For those of you who've done the muffin testing did all the muffins have three muffins, or did some have two?
