Zoe Nutrition Testing

Wombat27A · 15/06/2022 08:15

Not sure this is the right place for this...

Anyone else doing the Zoe Nutrition Testing?

My results were poor, so now I'm tackling my diet. I thought it was pretty good but it's clear it needs a major overhaul. So much information but finding it good.🙂

Oh op I am really interested in this! Childishly what puts me off is the poo sample.......

My worry is I don't act on the advice they provide and it's another waste of money. How is the feedback presented?

undermilkjug · 15/06/2022 16:21

I'm doing this. I found the blood sugar tracking element of the trial a complete revelation - I thought i was eating pretty healthily - for example a salad with a bread roll for lunch. Not a good plan!

I'm still quite a long way off doing it really properly I think as it is a massive diet overhaul which is going to take some time - I'm still very much working through the rules and very reliant on the app which is going to be expensive - I haven't got the hang of the rules as such.

I've been doing the diet bit for 2 weeks now (whole process about 8 weeks so far with the tests) and have lost a couple of lbs, but more I don't feel tired or ravenous - just more of an equilibrium.

VinoEsmeralda · 15/06/2022 16:23

I'm on the waiting list! Can't wait to start

lugeforlife · 15/06/2022 16:40

@VinoEsmeralda how long is the wait list? Do you have to pay anything up front?

Shall I get get over my poo sample fear and sign up?

VinoEsmeralda · 15/06/2022 17:12

lugeforlife no payment up front and no mention of timings just that over 200k have signed up.

As for the stool samples- I'm curious how big the box is😁

Wombat27A · 15/06/2022 18:48

The poo sample process is fine.

They send a little test tube and you dig a bit out from a poo you catch in a hammock. This amused me greatly!

The blood bit was a bit harder than I expected and I'm not squeamish.

The blood glucose testing is amazing! I thought my sugars were ok after the testing but it appears I process both fats and sugars badly. As the other pp says, to do the diet will be a big change. I have to admit I'm a bit overwhelmed...

They break up the info into small chunks with daily lessons.

It was a bit of a shock. I am obese so it shouldn't have been but at least my poo sample showed my gut was good. I just wish my DH, who is under 11 stone dripping wet had done it, as we eat the same stuff but must process it all so very differently.

lugeforlife · 15/06/2022 19:00

Thanks for this - I've signed up on the wait list. A lot of metabolic disease in my family and I am obese and peri menopausal.

My dh is similar - he eats such crap and has a bit of a gut but is a healthy weight and never ill. I am the exact opposite!

I await my poo hammock!

Wombat27A · 15/06/2022 21:06

Same here, metabolic & autoimmune issues.

Think I might have to start growing spinach.

I signed up for the health testing, I hadn't realised there was a lot of coaching too.

How much does it cost?

FinallyHere · 15/06/2022 21:16

So pleased to find this thread. I had been wondering about where best to post about it.

I'm only on day five of the tests, no results yet. Any ideas how long it takes to get your results back.

I've been doing the MN low carb bootcamp. Delighted to say that my bloods have been very stage but OMGoodness, the muffins caused such a spike. I was expecting to eat them as a 'treat' but struggled a bit to swallow all of them. Very glad to get back to low carb. I'm planning to test to make sure that none of my low carb meals spike blood sugar. The tests they suggest are obviously going to cause it to spike. I'm more interested in what I eat day to day.

Dreaded doing the poo sample so did it as soon as I got the kit. It way so much easier than other similar kits I have used. The 'scoop' inside the sample tube makes it all so easy.

Wombat27A · 15/06/2022 23:09

I tested a lot of my favourite meals.

I did do most of the other tests, like going for a walk after eating. I'm not really sure if it made a difference. Totally fascinating to see how even a bit of food showed up. I must admit I tested a MaccyD brekkie, sausage & egg McMuffin too. I was also pleased to get back to my usual diet!

It's the soft launch/testing phase (I think) at the moment, so I don't know if the pricing will change. I was expecting it to be more, as the US reviews on YouTube said it was quite expensive there.

Not sure the tracking is accurate. I make a lot of my food, so I have the same issue in My Fitness Pal too. More guessing than is probably ideal.

It's a few weeks before you get your report but not as long as I expected. I'm being a bit vague but I have time blindness, so without che

I think it was about four weeks from doing the tests that you get the results so not too bad.

FinallyHere · 16/06/2022 10:36

Thank you lovely people.

I'm so excited to have real concrete evident )snd have a weak spot for an app and a new gadget. Also quietly pleased to see what good results in terms of blood sugar appear from my current low carb eating

My blood sugar hovers around 6mmol/L on anything low carb (but shot up in response to the muffins). I think that's high but am hoping (in line with an article on DietDoctor.com ) that higher but rock steady bloods on low carb just reflect that I am burning fat. It certainly confirms that I'm honestly not hungry day by day. Intermittent fasting easy.

I'll be interested to see if hunger returns when my body run out of surplus fat to burn. That's not likely to be for a year at this rate but good to have things to look forward to. I'm thinking I might repeat these tests in a year or so when my fatty reserves are from rated. What s thing to look forward to.

Wombat27A · 17/06/2022 16:28

I hadn't realised the goal was to have most days with 75+ score for food.

Given I have both poor blood sugar & fat control, this might be fairly challenging.

I do wonder what foods you can eat (more of or more often) if you have better control of these things?

Some of my 0 foods have been a surprise. Likewise, there are food in the middle ranges that I would not have eaten previously.

FinallyHere · 17/06/2022 17:26

That sounds interesting @Wombat27A

Does the report you receive include recommendations for specific foods which are good or not so good, personalised for the tester?

I had not spotted that but am very interested

Do they also give recommendations for my individual blood sugar levels? I was a tad concerned because mine seem to hover around 6mmol/L each day which Dr Google suggested was quite high. I've got as far as the part where they give general guidelines for blood sugar levels and very pleased to see I'm within the standard tolerances.

Would be very interested to have a personalised level, well personalised anything.

Wombat27A · 17/06/2022 17:47

It is personalised to the report. Once you have your results, there's lots of things appear on the app. It's actually really good. The lessons talk you through picking foods.

I didn't log after the 1st two weeks & I should have as the logs were then scored retrospectively.

They also give you suggestions for the gut, both bad & good.

OP posts:
Wombat27A · 17/06/2022 17:47

Not blood sugar levels tho.

OP posts:
FinallyHere · 17/06/2022 18:48

Ah, thank you, good to know.

I'm just coming up to the option to log food. I've been using the 'log' It does seem all that convenient. Is there any other place I should be using?

Sorry about all these questions. Please ignore if you prefer. Don't want to use up all goodwill at the start before I've even got my results 😄

Wombat27A · 17/06/2022 19:01

Just log everything. I didn't after the first two weeks, not realising it would still score them. Mainly because I don't know how it worked...

Their chat is good, if you need specific help.

Best to ask!

Thank you for starting this thread was hoping for Mumsnet wisdom and learning Am starting tomorrow - decided not to start when the kit arrived in case there was an issue with 💩and blood test being posted over the weekend 🤷‍♀️

I enjoyed the testing process. I got hooked on the blood glucose app!

ArrangeYourFace1 · 21/06/2022 10:16

so glad there’s a thread on this! I have just finished the two week blood sugar testing phase. Glad to have got the thing off but I’ll miss the feedback, it’s been fascinating.

i haven’t had any very high events (out of the green) but I did have a very low event once on the day of having the muffins for breakfast and lunch. I am hoping that doesn’t mean anything too negative. My average glucose level is 6.4. I am looking forward to someone telling me what it all means!

I also found the poo hammock very amusing 😆

Wombat27A · 21/06/2022 11:47

Ah, a cheery message! Definitely my experience there. Was fun in a geeky way. 👍

I'm a bit fed up today as I'm struggling with tracking a bit. I hadn't realised it was quite a "coaching" experience. I live with menopause/adhd, so I'm prone to being a bit grumpy if nudged too far. 😳🙄😁
