Zoe Nutrition Testing

Wombat27A · 15/06/2022 08:15

Not sure this is the right place for this...

Anyone else doing the Zoe Nutrition Testing?

My results were poor, so now I'm tackling my diet. I thought it was pretty good but it's clear it needs a major overhaul. So much information but finding it good.🙂

full load green veg is one version of the acronym FLGV

In one kind of low carb world, leafy green veg are the thing to consume in volume. Good for digestion, nutrition etc. the IMO good version of low carb starts with consuming as many leafy green veg as can be crammed down one's throat. With fat (oily dressing, Mayo, fatty cuts of meat ) and some good quality protein.

Green or Good veg

Full load or f*ck load

To distinguish green or good veg from starchy veg, like potatoes or wheat.

It is a very different version of low carb from the kind that emphasises processed protein powders or even the Atkins approach which didn't place much value on veg.

just at the thought of the tummy troubles brought on by no or minimal veg

Wombat27A · 18/10/2022 11:21

Yep, we had a friend who developed serious bowel issues & was in hospital for 3 months.
That was more age & not eating much at all but it was a wakeup call not to ignore common bowel issues.

I had a veg delivery until recently & there was always green veg, I'm slipping now he's not picking my veg for me.

It's really good to chat here as you don't notice subtle changes in diet until you sit & think.

I was curious about the tracking too after my subscription runs out, not that they've added on my free months for referrals yet.

I'm away with work this week so I can't stick to the plan perfectly but keeping the principals in mind is really helping me not go overboard. Although you can imagine my delight this morning when I got to the buffet breakfast and not only did they have porridge but also mixed berries and walnuts. Plane food was another matter, I just went for eating it in the right order but there was not a lot of veg to start with.

Wombat27A · 18/10/2022 23:36

I assume & I think someone checked earlier that once the subscription finishes, we lose access to the app.

My kit arrived yesterday!!! So exciting. Had to freeze the muffins though as can't start for another few weeks due to half term. Grr.

Have to say, just by following this thread and doing some other research I've already made some big changes that are leading to me being much less snacky, more energetic and starting to slowly lose a bit of weight too. I'm starting to understand the broad concepts all a bit more but looking forward to the personalisation aspect too.

chutneypig · 19/10/2022 10:48

@texican it's a very good idea to wait until you've got the headspace to concentrate. The first few days are all about timing. I've been impressed how the coaching continues to build. I'm a fair way through now but I'm still getting some insights from the coaching, most days at least.

Hi,
Just wondering if anybody had a referral code?
Many thanks

Bitterbean · 22/10/2022 20:24

Hello all -
I'm just wondering if anyone has a referral code too. Just so tired of feeling ill all the time and really want to get started. I'm on the waiting list but no idea how long it is.

BishyBarnyBee · 22/10/2022 21:47

PM me and I'll send you one

Thank you I have one now.

MsRinky · 23/10/2022 09:38

Hello all. I finally signed up to this and got super excited when my box came, but now think I have screwed up my start date and am not sure what to do. I started yesterday, so should be doing my gut health test today and my muffin torture/bloods tomorrow. But of course today is Sunday, so if I do it today and put it in the post it won't be collected until Monday and then Tuesday is a postal strike day, so it won't get delivered until at least Wednesday. Similarly if I do the muffins/bloods tomorrow, I could make sure they get to a postbox with an evening pick-up, but they won't be delivered Tuesday, and will probably get caught up in delays.

Thinking I might just do both tests on Wednesday and get them in the post after the strike day - can't see that it will make much odds? Or will it screw up the app? I have looked ahead a few days, so will it let me postpone things and then go back and mark them completed? I am cross with myself for not thinking about Sunday post and strike days, I was just so keen to get on with it!

psed · 23/10/2022 19:39

@Permanentlyexasporated I have referral codes still if needed.

@MsRinky you could try asking over the chat app? They’ve been helpful so far. They might have a better idea of how long the tests can sit in the post for without effecting the results.

MadameLeotta · 23/10/2022 22:16

I have three referral codes if anyone still needs one. Just message me and I’ll send you the link. Still waiting for my kit to arrive here…

@MsRinky I’m a bit worried about the postal strikes too. Does the pack say how quickly the tests need to make it back to the lab?

GrimDamnFanjo · 24/10/2022 01:11

How long do you wait before you get your full results back?

chutneypig · 24/10/2022 06:57

@GrimDamnFanjo I started 2nd July and got my results back on the 30th of July. They'd predicted 5th August.

Hope you can get some guidance from the coaches @MsRinky, it's enough to be thinking about without any additional stress from the posting times. If I recall the stool sample wasn't as time dependent as the blood one.

Iwouldliketogovegan · 24/10/2022 07:12

Anyone else joining the Big If Zoe study into intermittent fasting? Starts today - week one is normal eating then from week two move to 14:10

Wombat27A · 24/10/2022 08:29

I've had stuff going on, so haven't had time to look at it. But I've done a lot of IF in the past, it's really useful if you're normally a grazer or just need simplicity.

The most useful thing for me is that I discovered I felt better on fast days, when I ate better than the other days.

I'll have to have a look.

Hi @Wombat27A really interesting thread.

I wonder if being in hrt changes your scores? Have they looked at that yet?

When my hrt is working I feel I can loose weight - I can tell my blood sugars are more stable, im not craving sugar/ carbs , more energy and sleeping better. I can make better food choices and actually have always eaten lots of nuts (especially almonds). When younger I actually struggled to keep weight on at times. In peri I was at my heaviest with my thickest waist but still only 9 stone.

Prior to hrt / not on enough, I have varying amounts of FODMAPs issues, histamine intolerance reactions (dark meat on chicken for example!) and despite being a life long constipation person (hypothyroidism, though better when that's good) I get the opposite issue.

I am aware that oestrogen helps the gut though, and is why many women get constipated when pregnant.

MsRinky · 24/10/2022 09:44

I haven't had a response yet, but I did a load of googling and talked to my friend who used to work in a bloods lab, and am going to put both tests in the post this afternoon at a main post office and hope for the best.

Not been the greatest of mornings so far between the poo hammock and choking those muffins down, with more muffins of doom and blood poking to come, but hey ho, at least it will be done with.

Wombat27A · 24/10/2022 09:55

It's possible to get loose stools when constipated, overflow. Plus it's definitely hormone-related.

If you have ND traits, that affects the gut too as the genetic component has physical manifestations too.

I just finding out about the link between hypothyroidism & low iron too. And that affects all sorts of things.

Pretty much everything matters!

Hang in there!

Yes that's well known about! In healthy women without hypothyroidism, ferritin supports thyroid function. It seems to do so when you're on thyroxine, as well as obviously the symptoms of low ferritin are similar to hypothyroidism.

DaisyWaldron · 24/10/2022 10:10

I signed up for the IF study. I'll check my email to see what I need to do.

I was just popping in here to look for ideas for high scoring evening meals that my pulse-hating family will eat. They will eat lentil soup, and I can do the beans instead of pasta trick for one meal a week, but I'd like inspiration for some more go-to meals for meal planning.

MsRinky · 24/10/2022 11:52

Well I am reassured about the samples, they have just told me not to worry as they are stable for ages. But I only got a response because they contacted me to say they weren't receiving my blood glucose data. I've sorted it now, following their instructions. Don't know why it didn't work though, I followed their set-up instructions in the app to the letter, I thought! And I write technical policies and procedures for a living! Did anyone else have this problem?

Also, I just know I am going to need to have more blood-glucose monitor time to do all the experiments I want to do. If I click on order sensors in the app, it takes me to a Libre sensor 2 page, but I'm sure mine is only the version 1. Can I just buy some more off Amazon? Will it still link to the app that is (now) sharing with Zoe, or will I need a new account?

FinallyHere · 24/10/2022 13:30

@MsRinky

I ordered more blood glucose monitors, very easily through the app. Not cheap and I think they were a fraction of a £pound cheaper through Amazon but I stick with the app

But sad to think of a blood sugar monitor as a trader for myself but here we are.
