Zoe Nutrition Testing

Wombat27A · 15/06/2022 08:15

Not sure this is the right place for this...

Anyone else doing the Zoe Nutrition Testing?

My results were poor, so now I'm tackling my diet. I thought it was pretty good but it's clear it needs a major overhaul. So much information but finding it good.🙂

Massive darling please don't do any beating up of yourself.

Now you have a little baby don't you as well as 2 others? How much unbroken sleep are you getting? That has an impact on things definitely- there is a Zoe insta post atm saying exactly that and I have personally noticed that when I sleep well my reading is much better than when I have poor broken sleep. Also bodies are not machines. And this is designed to find what supports you.

I did the food combination breakfast today. Much less of a spike than the plain bagel which aligns with my pizza result too. Still a spike though and I am better with a low carb start I think. I did a long walk this morning and it had no impact, in fact made me trip over 6 oddly but I also had less than 5 hours sleep. But I had an ice cream and been picking at bbq/salad food over lunch and have stayed high but steady.

I very much suspect my blood fat is going to come back fucked!

ArrangeYourFace1 · 10/07/2022 15:36

I had my results back today and I’m quite shocked. For my age my blood sugar control is poor. All my food scores for anything with the slightest sweetness are bad.
@Wombat27A did you say that we are aiming for food scores of above 70 ideally?

Wombat27A · 10/07/2022 15:59

I feel your pain! I was quite depressed by my results.

It's actually 75+ but not exactly immediately. There's a whole process about how to get there over a few weeks.

I'm not quite getting there, more 50s-60s but it was 30-40s before and I do feel a whole lot better.

I suspect I'll be similar @ArrangeYourFace1 based on the past week. I'll be interested to hear how you find the next stage.

Apple cider vinegar didn't help at all with the cake spike Grin would have been too much to hope for. I'll try it with a bagel on Thursday as that'll be more controlled.

I did finally have a lunch that didn't spike - quiche, oven chips and baked beans. Wasn't expecting that!

Wombat27A · 10/07/2022 16:06

Plus the app gets grumpy about my fat intake & knocks my score down. I don't think I track accurately enough but I'm aiming for good enough, not perfect.

It's not that easy to track for homemade stuff. I don't use the barcode scanner as I don't eat a lot of packet products. I agree it hangs a bit. I thought it was my phone.

They could do with more homemade bread scores.

Wombat27A · 10/07/2022 16:08

Quiche, chips and beans is quite balanced with protein and fat, as well as carbs.

MaccyD brekkie was my best breakfast for sugar...way better than my beloved proats!

ACV didn’t nothing for me too! Was disappointed.

im prett shocked at my results, it’s going to take me a while to readjust my thinking with food. My fat response is good so it looks like all my suggested foods are all salads and nuts. Which I do happen to love so that’s helpful. But still! So many foods now off limits like rice.

@Wombat27A i make my own bread too, sourdough these days after starting Zoe but it looks like even that scores really low for me which is very sad!

Wombat27A · 10/07/2022 16:33

Rice was 0 for me...

Bread is like 3. 😳

Has anyone tested ACV with and without the 'mother'. I'm hoping that the real kind with the mother will be better for me, but 'forgot' to test

Have pretty much decide that I shall treat myself to another glucose monitor (from the Libre app) once my results are in.

FinallyHere · 10/07/2022 16:39

Not that I don't believe them, still a tad concerned that I might have messed up the tests.

chutneypig · 10/07/2022 16:45

I've got ACV with the mother, DH has been reading up a lot on gut health.

I was thinking of getting another monitor once I've got the results, just to see if I'm putting everything into practise properly. I don't feel I've been as systematic as I could have been this last week.

I'm also aiming to cut out snacking, I've always thought it didn't help me and as everything I eat seems to make me spike, it can't be helping.

I'd not thought about the macros balance like that @Wombat27A. I think my heads still in carbs are bad!

I've been making my own bread @ArrangeYourFace1. I'm going to try that for lunch tomorrow and make sure I'm strict with the fasting before and after to get a really good idea. I'll be gutted if it isn't a high score for me but I expect I'm with you on that.

MassiveSalad22 · 10/07/2022 16:56

Thank you @lugeforlife that was like a virtual hug. Baby is 3 months and incidentally named Zoë 😄 she sleeps ok but am up a couple of times a night.

Itching get my results but will remain calm and patient as I can manage 😄

Have you managed to live without these? How’s it been?

ArrangeYourFace1 · 10/07/2022 17:04

I also have ACV with the mother and this is the one that made little difference.

@chutneypig totally think getting another monitor once you’re putting the personal meal plans in action. Would be very interesting to see if anything has changed.

Wombat27A · 10/07/2022 17:21

Actually, been ok. I was hungry the first few days but it's going really well.

I've switched to keeping a lump of dough in the fridge & making little tortillas. Weirdly, I can have tortilla chips & bulgar wheat as swaps, so been doing that.

You can use low-rated foods, so long as you factor it in through the day, not too often, etc. Tho that's probably why I'm not hitting 75+. That & because I like bananas. 😁

Swapped to yoghurt & fruit from fruit on its own. I have stopped eating rice tho. I used to eat a lot of rice. I might add it back in at some point. I think they use weight in their algorithm & I'm hefty, so wondering if the scores would change if I was lighter.

Zoe is a lovely name. 😊

@ArrangeYourFace1 on the blood glucose feedback vs what you saw on the monitor was there a big mismatch?

One of the things I am dreading as I will find it so difficult is to struggle to find a 'carb' which is ok for me. I've done low carb and tbh I hate it and can't sustain it. Similarly I've been gratified that fruit doesn't seem to spike me so I'd feel awful if it's out of bounds.

Wombat27A · 10/07/2022 17:34

I won't do very low carb as I did for 9 months & I got constipation & a knackered thyroid.

On that note, no issues with the gut atm...it's part of the monitoring. 👍

So I didn’t think my daily patterns were that bad, so it has been a surprise. But maybe I was just reading them without properly knowing what I was looking at?
My average glucose was 6.0mmol/L.
It never went up above the green zone, but on one of the muffin days, it did go down below the green zone. Not sure what that meant?

lugeforlife · 10/07/2022 18:06

That's interesting @ArrangeYourFace1. Mine look ok to me if high in the morning. They are a bit lower than yours on average but not hugely. I have a lot of diabetes in my family so I am quite paranoid about this.

@Wombat27A it is heartening to hear you are not low carbing tbh. I don't mind at all reducing them and interesting to hear you do well on bulgar wheat for example. But really reducing them won't work (I also have a dodgy thyroid which is why I don't like fasting too much, I seem to do better on 3 meals a day).

I need to experiment with a few more pulses, eggs and rye bread this week I think. I don't really fancy the bagel challenges as I clearly don't get on with white bread carbs. But I'll persevere.

Wombat27A · 10/07/2022 18:09

The bagel tests contribute to the clinical studies, I think.

Is the process when you do the ‘start your plan’ bit? Does it help you through sorting it all out? I’m not ready to start anything this week but I will do next week hopefully.

FinallyHere · 10/07/2022 20:12

The expected date has remained stable ever since I noticed it in the Zoe app, Friday coming up fast now.

Looking forward to Monday tomorrow.

So excited, much more so than Christmas

Think so. My memory is pants. If you click on the little pathway icon, you can see the progression. Top right.

All your results are really interesting. I'm on the waiting list but does anyone have any referral codes left?
