Not sure this is the right place for this...

Anyone else doing the Zoe Nutrition Testing?

My results were poor, so now I'm tackling my diet. I thought it was pretty good but it's clear it needs a major overhaul. So much information but finding it good.🙂

@FinallyHere i was thinking the same today, today I read about the blood fat tests and they showed test tubes of blood - no way is the amount on the postal blood test enough for that. But I’m sure they know what they’re doing and the pic was just for explanation purposes 😄 but I still don’t understand how they’ll test stuff from the muffins, partic the day 4 ones 🤨 they explained to me in the chat but I still don’t get it. But I guess I don’t have to get it 😄 just want the answers!

spanishsummers · 08/07/2022 22:54

I'm in the list. It annoys me slightly that I have filled in that app daily since March 20, and it's still so expensive for those who have .

lugeforlife · 09/07/2022 08:43

So I had a deliberately crappy Friday (and boy was it crappy).

Tested out a few 'fuck it it's fine' foods with surprising results. Definitely better with rice than bread/pasta which cheers me up. Gin didn't have much of an impact which is again good.

But a day of shitty food sent me up and down all over the place. Nothing too high and nothing too low (didn't go above 7.5 or below 4) but zigzagged all over the shop and was generally higher than usual. Very different from my mostly even with mild bump days I'd been having all week.

On a good note though, I managed my first proper night sleep in a week and my waking reading was the lowest it's ever been.

MassiveSalad22 · 09/07/2022 09:56

So interesting luge!! I need to try rice/pasta etc deliberately. Had pasta last night and remained in the 5s which surprised me.

I went for my walk last night at 9pm, went to bed, woke up this morning and had a big spike in the brunt at like 1am 😵‍💫 it’s happened a couple of nights, I don’t understand that at all. If anything exercise usually lowers my glucose, as you’d expect. Very odd. Annoying that I can’t actually click on the peak on the graph to see the reading, but it looks to be around 8, the highest reading of the day. But I was asleep (or maybe was giving the baby a bottle) and hadn’t eaten for about 5 hours.

MassiveSalad22 · 09/07/2022 09:56

*night not brunt!

chutneypig · 09/07/2022 11:04

Most of my normal diet seems to cause spikes, so I don't feel I've got to grips with it much over the last week. I'm hoping the blood sugar challenges this week are a bit clearer.

Day 4 was my best day, so maybe the breakfast muffins that day helped. Did anyone else see much of a difference that day?

I'm also finding the app a struggle with home cooked food, I keep trying to add as much detail of ingredients as I can but then it hangs.

Occasionally I start to feel faint when it's very hot and that happened this week. Blood sugar was normal, but my heart rate had dropped low so that was very interesting.

That is interesting @lugeforlife that you see such a difference and good to be finding foods that don't spike.

I keep wanting to check the numbers too @MassiveSalad22 - I've decided this exercise is showing I'm very impatient!

lugeforlife · 09/07/2022 11:17

@MassiveSalad22, you are opposite to me carb wise then - white bread/pasta sees me in the 7s, rice in the 5s.

What I found fascinating was that pizza (yes it was that crappy a day) kept me in the 5s so I will be super interested in the food combination day of the glucose challenge. Although I need little encouragement to eat bread AND cheese.

@chutneypig I found after spikes straight after the breakfast muffins, the rest of my day 4 was very even.

Day 2 of the breakfast challenge and I had 3 slices of cheese. Not a blip! Stayed in the high 5s all morning as opposed to a huge post bagel spike yesterday.

I am really gonna miss my little monitor!

Wombat27A · 09/07/2022 12:43

It would be interesting to have the monitor back for this phase too.

I'm on the bit where it deals with building meals.

MassiveSalad22 · 09/07/2022 12:47

What week are you on now @Wombat27A ?

I’m considering buying another monitor to use further down the line but soooo expensive…. £100 for 2 on Amazon 😱

Wombat27A · 09/07/2022 12:56

Sort of wk 4, I think. Doing it a day at a time. Planning too much sets off my adhd. 😁😊

I have found the secret to keeping my glucose steady! No husband and kidsHaloWink

Just back from a quiet mooch around the local shops at my own pace. Stopped for lunch by myself (poached eggs on toast and an iced coffee) then a bit more of an amble including finding the perfect soap dish for my new bathroom in tk maxx. Even though it was white toast because they'd run out of granary, barely a blip. No rushing, no bickering, somewhere I wanted to go for lunch!!!! Heaven

chutneypig · 09/07/2022 18:03

Sounds fantastic @lugeforlife! Bliss.

My one big hope for this is that I can navigate food with the family. I work away in the week and can be very disciplined when I've tried other plans. It all goes to pot at the weekend. They can all eat anything they like, no impact. Me, weight piles on if I look at food.

MassiveSalad22 · 09/07/2022 18:33

@chutneypig I’ve been worrying about this too. I’m veggie, DH carnivore, kids very picky, will be weaning a baby in 3 months time. So am dreading adding in even more requirements!

MassiveSalad22 · 09/07/2022 23:03

Again my glucose has shot up hours after eating and after a 40 min walk at 9pm 😵‍💫

MassiveSalad22 · 09/07/2022 23:03

It’s 7.8!!

chutneypig · 10/07/2022 07:09

@MassiveSalad22 that's quite baffling but hopefully the review of all your data will mean you get some insight into that.

I've just had cheese for breakfast - curious to see what that does today. I'm also going to try the second half of one of the bonus tests, cake with apple cider vinegar.

MassiveSalad22 · 10/07/2022 09:20

Ooh cake 😍 although is it worth it if you have to choke down some ACV? 😄 hope so! Enjoy!

I started my challenge thing today with plain bread. Glucose before eating anything was in the 6s so dreading my results! Deffo pre-diabetic, surely! So ashamed. I honestly don’t know what more I can do to lose weight but I guess that’s why I’m here. Don’t drink, salads for lunch every day (which I love hence the username), don’t eat breakfast usually, exercise regularly. I eat so healthily. I do eat chocolate but usually 90%, and what’s the point in life with no joy??

Going to up the exercise but it’s so hard to find the time. I find it hard to focus on more than one big project at a time so will just have to put my other goals on hold until I’ve lost weight.

Anyone whose had their results (blood tests, stool test, these are the foods you should eat) - how long was the wait? Thanks!

MassiveSalad22 · 10/07/2022 09:48

Also I accidentally had a tea and a coffee (just instant decaf with a bit of milk) after my bread but I’m sure that’s not the thing that’s going to cause a spike.

MassiveSalad22 · 10/07/2022 10:14

OK FYI chat said 6 week wait for test results

I’ll leave you all alone now and go back to crying into the laundry over what I have done to my body 😭

ladyandthechocolate · 10/07/2022 10:57

@MassiveSalad22 I feel your pain. I have had some massive spikes (up to 10). I can’t believe I have been eating food so regularly which has such a profound effect on my body.

Wombat27A · 10/07/2022 11:17

@MassiveSalad22 I think you'll find the adjustments in diet helpful if you have the same sort of results as me. It's not prescriptive, so don't worry. It'll be really interesting to hear your results.

MassiveSalad22 · 10/07/2022 12:30

Thank you both. I’ve calmed down a bit now 😄

I ate my bread at 8:35. Seems ok to me 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ ? Didn’t eat anything between the first 2 readings of the day so don’t know why that would have gone up.

Didn’t eat anything between the first 2 readings of the day so don’t know why that would have gone up.

One of the things I found most puzzling about the blood sugar monitor was exactly the kinds of small ups and downs across the day, especially when I had t eaten anything.

I've been low carbing for some time was wasn't so much interested in the challenges than making sure my usual food doesn't cause any spikes. No concern on that front but I did vary around a mean of day 5.7 all day and night. Puzzlin'

And looking for ward to results which maybe this Friday. Excited.

Wombat27A · 10/07/2022 14:02

I tended to have high readings in the middle of the night occasionally. I never worked it out, may have to Google.
