For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I am training to be an educational psychologist - v. stressful!

ZippiBabes · 11/01/2008 22:50

that sounds like a long day how many days do you do

BBBee · 11/01/2008 22:52

between 4-5 days a week so a bit intensive - but term time only which is a wonderful relief!

TooTicky · 11/01/2008 23:29

Bee, I would love to know mnore about the family drawing thing....can you link to things or books or something...?
And was it you who was doing belly dancing? I'm sure somebody was.

Yes, I grow veg. Carrots particularly, as we can't get enough of the things. Also onions, purple podded peas (divine), black corn (disappointing), beans, dill, parsley...
I definitely recommend carrots and peas. Courgettes good too for results.
I did round yellow cucumbers this year too and they were prolific.
I want to try potatoes this year.
No allotment - we have a long thin garden

PSW, will seek out scrabble tomorrow. I was wondering what had happened.

MrsC, WHY do you have piles of Booja Booja?

Zippi, I missed your climber

Zippi, it's gone

FrannyandZooey · 12/01/2008 08:55

Zippi's climber was interesting and cheekboney and beardy and spectacled and intense and a bit intellectually and possibly slightly sensitive

I want to know more about the drawings too, Bee, sounds fab

I forgot to tell you yesterday we had roasted parsnip and carrot batons with roasted mushrooms, in wraps, with hummus and grated cheese and beans. It was really good.

Breakfast: mango, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries. It's dp's birthday, and he is still alive, yay. I have to go to work but this afternoon we can bumble about, and have an Indian takeaway this evening

We were going out tomorrow, had babysitter and everything but he says he feels too rotten. Poor sod. I got him a big posh kite he wanted and some vacuum clippers that allegedly suck all the hair up as you are clipping, and lots of books. Oh and some posh poncy ethi pants

ZippiBabes · 12/01/2008 09:02

is it one of those kites that lifts uyo offf the ground

FrannyandZooey · 12/01/2008 09:02

god I hope not

have you read the Wasp Factory

FrannyandZooey · 12/01/2008 09:04

if you scroll down to 'yukon' you can see a video of it in action

MrsCarrot · 12/01/2008 09:04

not sure I'd like parsnip in a wrap but it sounds interesting.

I have eaten raspberries.

Is Boco back today? I bet she had a lovely time.

FrannyandZooey · 12/01/2008 09:05

video worth persevering with IMO to see it take off from water etc

FrannyandZooey · 12/01/2008 09:06

it was really good MrsC. we cut them up in fine batons and they are so tasty and sweet, they were great with the hummus and the cheese - quite rich though [greed]

ZippiBabes · 12/01/2008 09:15

I don't know where to start with this thread..

I love the wasp factory. My copy is around 20 years old and falling to bits from repeated bath reading.

ZippiBabes · 12/01/2008 11:00

i shall have to read this book then..i bought the cryptonomicon one with tethe climber..I regard it as a challenge to read it..I havne't decided what sort of book it is except one I wouldn';t normally read

ZippiBabes · 12/01/2008 11:01

that is the wasp factory..which is a book i have often planned to read but never have done i don't think i have read any of his books

ZippiBabes · 12/01/2008 11:02

no it isn't the wasp factory..i have confused myself totally

I have never read the wasp factoruy but always intended to

well soince it was published anyway

and I haven't read any books by Ianin Banks

filthymindedvixen · 12/01/2008 11:20

you're protesting too much zips

ZippiBabes · 12/01/2008 11:22

i can't imagine how anybody manages to talk to me for more than five minutes..if that is an example of waht they have to listen to..and very often I think it is

filthymindedvixen · 12/01/2008 11:25

oh zips...I drive people mad because it takes me 10 minutes to get to the point as I talk without thinking, or rather think as i am talking. So a typical convo with dh goes:
ME: ''darling, if it was monday, but no, then you'd be at work anyway so...perhaps if there's time...and I know you think this so...well, what i mean is...and then the milkman doesn't come until tuesday...''
DH: ''So do you want a cup of tea of do you not?''
