For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

my dh had it for 12 days. I had it for 3. Both boys unaffected other than one day last week of ds being craoky and throaty. It cleared up overnight.

Bocohohoho · 21/12/2007 18:22

MrsC, sorry this isn't very nice but did you know someone who died recently - Henry, who wrote poetry and was at UEA? Sure he had soemthing to do with that poetry book you showed me.

FrannyandZooey · 21/12/2007 18:22

I think it is very good about Boco going to the wizard, and I am sorry about the ing thing

I just can't actually believe in it, except that lots of people tell me it works. So I am prepared to believe it does work - I don't believe in spiritual healing either - it CAN'T work - except it has worked for me

anyway well done for going Boco and if you need help getting any of the stuff I am sure my glowing lady will have them here. Let me know if you want anything posted. I hope everything improves, FAST

Capp I am speechless about the magical badger sett. I am doing the yearning thing too.

I am off work till Jan 4th yay! And dp is off work until Jan 2nd.

Gibbon I have been nervy of mentioning this because I fear I will immediately get struck down, but both ds and dp had the lurgy last week and I didn't get it

I am not sure how I managed it as it was not by consuming huge amounts of veg and exercising, that was for sure

I did religiously take multivitamin and elderberry every day though

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 21/12/2007 18:27

Really Franny! ooohh now I am going to think positively!

Some hypnosis is in order me thinks - will do some later

I must start of the vitamins again

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 21/12/2007 18:27

on the vitamins not of

MrsCarrot · 21/12/2007 18:34

I don't know him, Boco, he was on a different course to me, the diploma I think and it was a different year. It's very sad, he was 24 and on his way to his grandfathers funeral or something.

yulemoonfiend · 21/12/2007 18:36

F&Z, I took vit c, garlic caps, honigar, elderberry and eccinacea and still got it, but only for 3 days which is a feckin miracle as all colds last 14 days wih me and go straight to my chest...

Wash your hands lots too....most cold virus and other germs are contracted by hand to nose/mouth

Bocohohoho · 21/12/2007 18:47

Yes, he was - the 19 year old who also died was the daughter of Dps line manager at work. Dp was with her when the police came to tell her she'd been in an accident She was the one i mentioned only a week or two ago, who was giving the girls all her Sylvanian families for christmas. It's really horrible. Dp is going to see her (the mum) in the morning, to take her a butterfly as that's what she's asked for instead of cards.

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 21/12/2007 19:06

oh Boco

The police is the worst bit IMO. When DB died just having them talk to us so matter of factly was surreal.

That poor woman. My mum has never been the same. You shouldn't have to bury your child

FrannyandZooey · 21/12/2007 19:09

Oh dear Boco I am so sorry. What a shock and agree with Gibbon about it just being WRONG when children die.

Gibbon I am sorry, I did not know you had lost your brother.

Bocohohoho · 21/12/2007 19:17

Sorry Gibbon I didn't know either

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 21/12/2007 19:21

Thanks Franny. Was a few years ago..God I miss him. We were always very close. He has been in my dreams so much lately so has been on my mind more than usual.

In my dreams he looks just like he did when he returned from living in Goa, long dreads, dirty tan and a real inner peace.

It's good to think of him. Makes me sad and smile at the same time.

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 21/12/2007 19:23

i'm sorry to hear that too and for the sadness

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 21/12/2007 19:24

Thanks Boco

We shared a love of eating with our hands and really feeling the food

Drove my mum potty.

FrayedKnot · 21/12/2007 19:33

Oh dear

Sorry Gibbon

And about teh Sylvanian families girl

I have finished work also

When I left DS today to go to work he cried big fat salty tears all over me and I nearly didnt go. Then I went, and the traffic was abysmal, and I got ranty with people who were driving at 1 mile an hour to get their sprouts from Tesco, and when I got to work all the systems had gone down apart from e-mail which I can check from home anway

DS has gone to bed heavily dosed up and hoping we have a btter night tonight.

pinkspottywellies · 21/12/2007 20:03

This is the first night I've been in since Sunday! Haven't managed to catch up on the thread. Or eat many fruit and veg but I think I always get at least 5 so not too bad [hopeful]

I really should be wrapping. Ah stuff it. I'll do it on Monday!

Can I have a potted catch up of the week please? Hope you're well Franny! Have you been telling people? Is ds excited? I saw the bit about eating more veg and I second soup - I made broccoli and stilton last week. Really yummy and you only need a tiny bit of cheese.

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 21/12/2007 20:05

TooTickyDoves · 21/12/2007 20:26

Oh Gibbon, I am sorry

Zippi, you are less organised than me. I didn't think that was possible. Where is your thread?

I have not been eating well. Missing breakfast always seems to lead to bad eating.

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 21/12/2007 23:13

i have actually had leaves in a cheese sand wich an apple and abanan cauliflour leaves and new potatoes with cheese and a twirl and a yorkie bar which were my presents from the climber
