DH says my vagina is ridgy

Name change, for obvious reasons.

AIBU to wonder whether this is normal?
I know that most vaginas have ridges (rugae??)
But he says mine is very ridgy and I agree, when feeling myself.
I'm worried that it makes me feel strange or looser?
Is it unappealing for men when someone's ridges are more prominent?
Sorry, Google didn't really help me.

OP posts:
foreverandalways · 24/11/2021 13:50

Tell him that his manhood also feels strange to you....absolute arsehole.....😡

Mandarinsatsuma · 24/11/2021 13:51

That's such a weird thing for your partner to say. Hmm

JamAutistically · 24/11/2021 13:51
@Tal45

Oh come on, we’re not all going to start saying this “ridgy vagina” comment was a ploy to gaslight OP and began some serious emotional abuse are we? It would be peak MN if that’s the way this thread goes.
Yep. It's already going that way.

PigeonLittle · 24/11/2021 13:51

Tell him his scrotum is ridgey.

A vagina has ridges and folds, its designed to stretch an enormous amount.

If its changed - thickened, hardened, or drier than it used to be a GP appointment would be the way to go.

Maybe use some lube during intimate times, might help the perception of it.

OhWhyNot · 24/11/2021 13:52

I’m sure some feel slightly more ridgey (is that a word) than others

I think post menopause they smooth out (I guess function is to catch sperm)

If he is attentive in others way would it be a problem? He could have informed you in a nicer way though and probably kicking himself

rubyandbel · 24/11/2021 13:55

@TeapotCollection

Tell him his cock stinks
Best answer yet!
Palavah · 24/11/2021 13:57

Vaginas are designed to be ridgy inside so that they stimulate the penis.
They may feel slightly different at different stages of your cycle.

Gonnagetgoing · 24/11/2021 13:58

Never heard of this, I may have felt this on myself but not been bothered by this, why should I be?!

In your DH’s case tell him it’s normal. And if he doesn’t like it…

Honestly though some men are about as subtle as a brick. I’d be tempted to ask him if he’s been comparing it to other vaginas then and see the look of panic cross his face Grin

Gonnagetgoing · 24/11/2021 13:59

@Palavah thank you

Lockdownbear · 24/11/2021 13:59

If it didn't have ridges it wouldn't stretch to get baby out, ridges a bit like an accordions enable stretch.

So I concur all vaginas have ridges.

JamAutistically · 24/11/2021 14:01

Vaginas are designed to be ridgy inside so that they stimulate the penis.

Were they intentionally designed (by nature) that way so that they stimulate the penis (In other words, that's one of the vagina's jobs) or was the fact that they're ridgy and stimulate the penis a nice coincidence?

Genuine question.

MostlyGuesswork · 24/11/2021 14:03

@OhGiveUp

I've just asked my DH if mine is ridgey. It went like this..... Me. Have I got a ridgey pussy? Him. What?? 😲 Me. Does it feel like ridged inside? Him. How do you mean? Like the stretchy hose on the hoover?

So there you have it ladies.....mine is comparable to the stretchy hose on the bloody hoover!

Ask him how often he puts his cock inside the hoover hose...
BurbageBrook · 24/11/2021 14:03

I had an ex tell me ‘ooh, your vagina is all wavy’. He loved it and called it my ‘magic vagina’! Think it made sex feel better for him, not worse.

Bagelsandbrie · 24/11/2021 14:05

I have a floppy weird scar inside mine from my episiotomy from dd 18 years ago. It’s pretty strange, I’ve had it checked and been told it’s healthy but yeah it’s like a little fold of skin inside! I think all vaginas are pretty weird and unique. No ones bodies are the same.

Eyesofdisarray · 24/11/2021 14:06

Hoover hose??😆
Accordions??😆

Nomoreusernames1244 · 24/11/2021 14:06

Vaginas are designed to be ridgy inside so that they stimulate the penis

I would think the ridge “design” is more an inbuilt stretch facility. Like pp said after birth the ridges disappear and reform as the vagina resumes it’s previous state.

If it didn’t have ridges to allow the stretch there’d be some pretty horrific birth and sex injuries. Think about skin’s ability to stretch- it is limited, which is why stretch marks happen with fast increase in size.

It’s not all about the penis Hmm

FreeBritnee · 24/11/2021 14:08

I’d have thought a ridgey vagina was quite a good thing 😎

Palavah · 24/11/2021 14:08

My wording wasn't very precise. 'are designed suggests a creator'. The benefit to having a vagina that stimulates the penis during intercourse is obvious. As other PP have quoted/linked/explained, the ridges have a structural function.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 24/11/2021 14:10

What does he thinks it feels like? The inside of a toilet roll?
Mine has got more ridgy as I've had children and aged but it feels quite normal to me. I've seen and felt thousands of vaginas, I was a nurse for 20 years, they are all ridgy and vary according to the person like penises. What penis is exactly the same as the next?

grapewine · 24/11/2021 14:10

@MintJulia

Perhaps you could point out that his member is also ridgey. Does that mean you shouldn't put your hand there? Hmm
I think I'd say this. How weird of him.
Cas112 · 24/11/2021 14:10

All vaginas are different so maybe he is quite inexperienced before hand and not realised this.

Ask any man usually they will tell you no vagina feels the same so tell yours to get over it, its not unnormal

Ducksurprise · 24/11/2021 14:10

Ah. Mine definitely does not have ridges, but also despite three attempts I couldn't deliver naturally and all mine were born via section. Maybe this is why
JSL52 · 24/11/2021 14:11

@Anordinarymum

My vagina is less ridgey these days, probably due to me having been around the block and back
😂
foxgoosefinch · 24/11/2021 14:11

You can also have normal bumps (fordyce spots) and patches of bumpy skin (micropapillae) in the vulva/vagina too. I once was freaked out by a patch of little soft skin bumps at the entrance of mine (this was pre-baby) and went down to the STI hospital clinic to be examined - consultant took one look through the colposcope and sent me away saying “micropapillae - normal variation!” (by which he meant normal variation of female anatomy, I gather 🤣)

JamAutistically · 24/11/2021 14:12

@Eyesofdisarray

Hoover hose??😆 Accordions??😆
I actually like these descriptions. Makes sense in a much smaller scale, obviously Grin
