For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh dear.

Could you pretend to be me?

OverRated · 04/12/2007 04:48

Oh, I just can't keep up with these threads - it all moves too quickly for me. By the time I get here you there are hundreds of posts for me to catch up on. And I missed out on scrabble

Am being rubbish on my 10/10 too. I did have lots of roast veggies today though, including parsnip, so feel a bit festive. Will do better tomorrow.

Fingers crossed for you Robert - must be very scary. I had a lump once (in my late teens) and was referred. I ended up having an ultrasound rather than a biopsy and it turned out to be just milk tissue (can't remember the technical term now) that had moved in an odd way. It sorted itself out. It was reassuring to know that I hadn't imagined the lump, that it was something and that it ended up being nothing to worry about. But the waiting is awful. {hug}

I could have sworn I had the right email.

frothykindofadrink · 04/12/2007 09:35

Hi Robert I had a lump in my breast a couple of years ago which my gp said didn't feel sinister and they checked it out and it was fine; it just went away

From what my gp said they can tell by the feel of a lump whether it is really worrying or not

womblingalong · 04/12/2007 10:12

Hope all is well, haven't been able to post, kids too ill, and I came down with the D&V bug last night. Am off work, kids are not in am in bed with laptop, feeling yuck.

Have managed some ribena today, does that count?

FrannyandZooey · 04/12/2007 12:52

FrannyandZooey · 04/12/2007 13:01

No, loads better thank you wombling. I still have very strong feelings about what I want to eat (usually less healthy than usual ) but I don't often feel sick at all.

TooTickyDoves · 04/12/2007 16:21

Hello everybody

May I place a small dilemma before you?
My lovely great aunt has just died and the funeral is on Thurs. I would have gone without question BUT her daughter seems to be snippy and unpredictable atm and has recently been rude and hurtful to my mum (didn't seem to want my mum visiting great aunt in hospital). Great aunt is on my dad's side btw so my mum not a blood relation, but still! Anyway. I would like to go because a) it seems the right thing to do and b) funerals are quite interesting because you find out things about people's lives/family history. As my dad and grandmother are already dead, this is my last contact really as I'm not really in touch with the rest of the family. But Great aunt's daughter may be shouty - I just don't know. My mum is going anyway but is apprehensive. And it's 20 or 30 miles away at an inconvenient time. What would you do?

RobertSmithStoleMyLipstick · 04/12/2007 16:47

Firstly, Sorry for your loss

I would go. You are then paying your respects and there for your mum as she is feeling apprehensive.

I always say follow your heart and trust your gut instinct, rarely are they wrong.

It does sound like you should go Toot, you might regret it if you don't, and feel like you missed something. Hopefully this woman won't be shouty at the funeral, and if she is at least you and your mum have each other for support.

Wombling hope you're feeling better. The d&v bug is everywhere atm, there were only 8 children in DDs class today, and 10 off sick!

I've spent the day helping to pack up my elderly grandparents house as they're moving on Thursday. It was hard as they've hoarded so much stuff and don't want to throw anything away, despite moving into a tiny new place. My grandma had kept every piece of old wrapping paper ever wrapped around a present since 1943 and wasn't prepared to part with any of it! I'm exhausted.

Tomorrow i have payback to the Head after the birthday table battle. She's got me to be in charge of dangerous parking outside the school. I have the school council and the art club at the same time, and am supposed to produce a flier designed by art club, worded by council, in 45 minutes! There will be about 20 kids! I'm quite scared actually, i don't know how to organise this or what to come up with. I can't even start a thread as don't know where to start. someone just tell me what to do, please - its to put parents off parking on those zig zag lines outside school as lots of them do.

RobertSmithStoleMyLipstick · 04/12/2007 19:06

Boco - sadly no advice on what to do but wanted to wish you luck

FrayedKnot · 04/12/2007 19:46

Evening all

I have had a bad day fruit-wise but caught up with lots of veg for tea. Sorry to hear about the horrid bugs going round. Wombling hope you feel better soon.

Boco - can you do something really simple with pseudo traffic signs e.g.

STOP! (big red stop sign next to it)
THINK! (lightbulb / question mark in some type of traffic sign next to it)
PARK! (Yellow sqaure on it's side with black silhouette of car in it)

Then have the council blurb underneath / round the edge.

This probably sounds highly bizarre and incomprehensible now I have described it

TooT - I think you should go. I am reminded of something I read a little while ago:

"A friend of mine told me that the most valuable thing in life was our meeting with others, and that to miss an opportunity for a meeting with a friend or loved one was to miss out on a bit of life's richness".

I think this applies to funerals as well as 10/10 meet ups.

pinkspottywellies · 04/12/2007 21:38

I have 7 vowels. That's not even funny

I just had an apple and had roasted parsnips for dinner and cottage pie with onions and lentils in. 3 portions for breakfast, lunch was rubbish, cherry tomatoes, was at mils, not much in. Ooh so 7 overall. Not bad!

Should I go to my exercise class tomorrow morning? I've got some christmas shopping to do.

pinkspottywellies · 04/12/2007 22:00

Urgh. My second rack is 6 vowels

pinkspottywellies · 04/12/2007 22:01

Sorry I didn't make it last night MrsC, was a bit late. Get the Scrabble board set up and I'll get in the car
