For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Do you think Franny? hope so, as no doubt I will see her again at some point

How are you feeling these days btw? has the sickness dissipated? Still tired or feeling more energetic?

Is vinegar very good for you then?

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 17/12/2007 18:44

oh that's good TooT

TooTickyDoves · 17/12/2007 18:49

Gibbon, I have only had one smear. It was so awful - you did well to gush. I just tensed and looked pained and they had to get a doctor to do it

FrayedKnot · 17/12/2007 18:50

Good news TooT

I gargled with cider vinegar for a sore throat on MrsC's recommendation recently and it did seem to have a positive effect.

Mmm not sure what she expected from harassed mother trying to finish christmas shopping, return a suit to the hire shop, collect a parcel, and battle in freezing winds, with hefty toddler in buggy...

But I didn;t make my ignorance sound blase, I just sounded idiotic...

Can I just ask a question, MrsC if you are about, is there still a Futon shop on Guildhall Hill in Norwich?

FrannyandZooey · 17/12/2007 19:02

Gibbon thank you the sickness is really fine now and I don't think I am so tired.

My mother just rang and ds started shouting "we've got a baby! we've got a baby!" in the background. I didn't want to tell her yet I think I managed to talk loudly over it and cut her off quickly

Glad to hear you're feeling better Franny and bless DS - how lovely he is so excited

MrsCarrot · 17/12/2007 19:39

Oh, don't talk about smears, Ive had another abnormal one. If it's still the same after Christmas I might have to have surgery again. I won't go into detail but suffice to say it was worse than the dentist.

Frayedknot - yes, there is still a futon shop there. They have a blanket box full of bizarre black tedddies in the window. It puzzles me every time I walk past.

FrayedKnot · 17/12/2007 19:44

Oh dear MrsC sorry to hear that. I had a couple of abnormal ones a few years ago but all clear since. I do make sure I have them regulalry though, even though I hate it.

Thanks re Futon Shop. I need to get a portable bed for DS for when we go to stay at PILs and they have something suitable I think, so hopefully will be able to drop in when we are in Norwich.

FrayedKnot · 17/12/2007 19:46

Oh sorry surgery I missed that

Do you have to have a GA?

MrsCarrot · 17/12/2007 19:50

What's that? I had loop diathermy before.

MrsCarrot · 17/12/2007 19:52

Duh, you mean general anesthetic?

No, unfortunately, local.

FrayedKnot · 17/12/2007 20:05

Bocohohoho · 18/12/2007 09:00

Mince pie one.

DD2 is a toy cat in the nativity play today at pre-school. I have horrible cold and sinus horribleness and feel like i've been drinking heavily but i haven't. [moan] Dp was surprisingly sympathetic and took dd1 to school this morning so i didn't have to go out.

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 18/12/2007 09:11

at toy cat but you are feeling so rough. I suffer with sinus trouble at times, it's horrid - you feel all heavy and the pain is a bitch. I don't like taking drugs/medicine but I always use Otrivine nasal spray when I get sinusy (sp?) as it's works in an instant and really helps.
