For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I am [blush, come, feel my shame.

Had a smear today. First ever with a woman doing it. I was already twittering on like a mad fool re new 'clamps' being plastic and how great that was for smearee but not so good for planet etc if they don't get reused/recycled etc

Anyhoo, it was such an amazingly different (in a good way) experience that I was practically gushing. The poor woman was trying to quickly finish what is, let's face it not the highlight of her job, and there was I - "OOOHHHHHH this is my first time having a lady (lady ffs not woman but 'lady) do it...isn't is fantastic^ I mean WOW - I've only had men before and they're so rough handed - you're FAB" I then proceeded make the old style metal clamp noises and mused on the possibilty of some male GP's being misogynistic sadists.

Needless to say the chit chat ceased and she wouldn't even make eye contact when I left still gushing "oh thank you nurse"

I stand by my delighted state though...it really was a completely different experience.

pinkspottywellies · 17/12/2007 16:16

I hated saying I was pg because of the everyone know's what you've been doing thing. Then just when I'd got my head round it and thought 'no don't be silly no-one will be thinking that' a young girl (a client) at work came in who we hadn't seen for a while and announced she was pg and my boss said 'oh, well I don't need to ask what you've been up to then!' Back to square one! We did the same Franny, just said 'we've got some News' with a big grin! Most people just said it was about time!

I have goulash in the oven for dd and dh. I am going Out tonight for chinese with some friends! I have a spot the size of Everest on my forehead (the mountain not the double glazing company!)

I think I've finished my Christmas shopping today! Including the secret santa for the work do!

Did anyone see my Silent Night title or are we all studiously ignoring it? In which case carry on studiously ignoring it

Hope you're feeling well Franny.

What is the hd and bn thread (or whatever it was)?

pinkspottywellies · 17/12/2007 16:20

I like the not doing washing idea. Very unfestive. I may join you in not doing any washing either

BBBee · 17/12/2007 16:37

yes PSW you have to join us - washing is unfestive.

what was silent night title?

boco i had gone - i am here. hairdryer?

i don't think kitchen was on your list was it?

pinkspottywellies · 17/12/2007 16:39

I didn't want to put it again in case everyone was studiously ignoring it!

Silent Night? No chance the veggers have been at the sprouts again!

zippitippitoes · 17/12/2007 16:41

lolol

i remember telling my mum that iwas having dd2 and she said oh no..she thought it was a disaster ...didn't tell anybody abnout ds until about 18 weeks then!

and of course dd2 didn't tell me about her baby until about 27 weeks and so it was on 9 weks before he appeared

BBBee · 17/12/2007 16:41

but psw it implies we are flatulant - i would rather imagine us all having sex than have to think about that.

zippitippitoes · 17/12/2007 16:42

u want a veg title which includes refs to xmas and sex babe?

Bocohohoho · 17/12/2007 16:49

I second Bee's sentiments. Well, i'm not going to imagine anyone having sex, but if sprouty farts are in the title i will be put off visiting. Vey unladylike hindeed.

dds headteacher gave me a present today. It was a primary school pen. I laughed mainly because i was surprised, and she looked a little bit offended.

Oh shitit Bee, you're right, the kitchen was not on my list.

FrayedKnot · 17/12/2007 16:50

LOL DS was IVF so no-one knew if we'd been having sex or not

A friend of mine who has recently announced her third pregnancy in 3 years sent a text. I think she preceded it with the slight unexpectedness of the announcement

I'm not doing any chores. I'm conserving my energy for another night out tomorrow, and work is frantic. DS & I have to make chocolate crispies for his party tomorrow in a minute, though.

FrayedKnot · 17/12/2007 16:53

"I posted parcels and put ds in the bath and then had a big sit"

Franny that sentence is remarkably easy to misread.

I liked the mince pies title

zippitippitoes · 17/12/2007 16:55

yes mince pies title was good

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 17/12/2007 16:59

Another vote for mince pie title

Bocohohoho · 17/12/2007 17:02

Gibbon your smear story made me lol - i'm sure the nurse was delighted to have such a satisfied customer

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 17/12/2007 17:08

Oh Boco...I did leave feeling embarrassed (could hear myself going on but couldn't find pause for some reason) but I did hope that at least she might get a sense of job satisfaction

BBBee · 17/12/2007 17:14

i think bthe smear lady was pleased but a little embarrassed. she has a tale to tell at least.

so i have stood by the cooker making pasta sauce and have eaten half a jar of 'barry norman pickled onions' (an earlier xmas present from my sister)

do these count?

they are pickled and therefore devoid of nutrients.

conversley

there is vinegar and isn't that some sort of good thing? Doesn;t one of you veggers drink it or something? FK is it you?

sorry - that keeps happening

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 17/12/2007 17:27

I say they count

DD is making me - she is 'dancing' to the sisters of mercy. I am playing it as I tidy up.

FrayedKnot · 17/12/2007 17:55

It is hard to stop that embarassed gushing conversation once it's started I agree

Ah, Sisters of Mercy ...I think I used to fancy Wayne Hussey at one time..I do housework to the Cure on occasion

Just remembered some local radio lady stuffed a microphone up my nose in town today and waved a picture at me and asked me who it was

Turns out it was the new England Manager but tbh I had other things on my mind

Just hope they don;t play the clip of me, or that no-one recognises me, at any rate

BBBee · 17/12/2007 17:57

FK they have just shown it on national news "ditzy mother not recognise new england manage - what world coming to"

is it you who drinks vinegar or soemthing?

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 17/12/2007 18:11

Ahh The Cure....my true nostalgia music. I still adore them

lol at the news clip

FrannyandZooey · 17/12/2007 18:30

It's MrsC and FMF isn't it?

Gibbon I liked your story, I think it is nice to be enthusiastic and chatty

wtf is wrong with pickled things? You can write off most of the beetroot I have ever claimed on here then

Ds2 has made a miracle recovery
From being hot and utterly flopsy yesterday, to being sick and incapable of speech this morning, to being really quite bouncy this afternoon and talking about Doctor Who
