For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

oh Bee, I hope it is fun when you get there

if it is really naff just make an excuse and come home, but I bet you enjoy it once you're out

The scan results will just be if the baby is alright, and a due date. Oh we get a photo I think all being well. They say drink a pint of water an hour before going. Do they not know most mothers have the bladders of hamsters? I will be in pain.

Oh yes, I remember drinking a lake of water and then being kept waiting long past my appointment time. Madness.

TooTickyDoves · 15/12/2007 21:52

I have an uncomfortable problem, made more miserable because it is not the sort of thing one talks about.

TooTickyDoves · 15/12/2007 21:53

Bee, hope it's going okay. Sometimes these things one dreads turn out to be okay - even nice...

FrannyandZooey · 15/12/2007 21:54

Oh dear

would it help to email about it? Or if you feel happy talking about it on here we will beat off any unhelpful people with big sticks

Franny, I have emailed you. You will probably wish I hadn't

BBBee · 16/12/2007 00:30

oh toot hope all is well.

party was okay - i had a glass of champagne and talked to a bloke who is a docotor in a&e and told me stories of limb loss - was quite nice really.

fz the water thing is not nice - they make you drink you wait and then they press your tummy! It is lovely though. I cry at mine - I will go all teary when you tell us about it I am sue.

Remember liquid is liquid if the water seems too much (not gin obv- but orange juice or somethin can substitute)

OverRated · 16/12/2007 01:37

Oooo good luck tomorrow, F&Z.

Toots, whatever it is, it doesn't sound very comfortable. Hope it gets better soon.

I'm worn out by the party season too - we had 4 last week, in two days. Thankfully no scarily coloured icing and lots of fruit.

FrayedKnot · 16/12/2007 08:13

Hello ev eryone

Fruit & Veg 0
Cups of Tea 1

Franny, hope it goes well today. Water is a pain, I had not drunk enough, so was sent out of room to drink more and not allowed back until I felt like I was about to drown, because DS was asleep and all curled up

TooT I talked about piles on here, remember? Hope you are OK.

Pink, hello, how did the early Christmas go? It must seem like it;s been Christmas for ages Sorry to hear about DD. I remember that helpless feeling of how to settle DS if he wouldn;t feed. Luckily it was only ever confined to a few occasions but one memorable one after about 4 hours of screaming, and pacing, rocking and so on at 3am I said to DH "I'm going to drive round the block with him and if he's still screaming after two laps I'll drive straight on to A&E because there must be something serious wrong", and marched out into the night (it was january). After 2 mins in the car he was asleep! I never did find out what was wrong.

Last night was the big party and it went enormously well. I am wallowing in a kind of hungover relief that everything was OK and everyone enjoyed it. Especially the food which can be awful at those organized things, but was actually OK.

Zippi hope you had fun with Lou

FrannyandZooey · 16/12/2007 09:34

oh god I had to check my email and see that everyone is asking why I amn't playing S&$*£"&e I went off the boil when it was offline for so long; I'll try to resurrect some enthusiasm

Am going to go and see how much fruit I can fit into one person's body (mine).

Bocohohoho · 16/12/2007 09:59

Good luck with your scan Franny, does that mean you'll be telling everyone afterwards, or have you already?

We're going for a German tea this afternoon with New Friend, who is half German and is doing the advent candle thing and baked lots of traditional cakes and biscuits and things. It sounds Christmassy and lovely.

FrannyandZooey · 16/12/2007 10:01

Oh German advent IS so lovely my German friend moved away

Boco yes we will tell friends this week if all is well and then family when we see them. Although I think I will ring my sisters just before we go down to my mum's, otherwise my mum will find a way to 'accidentally' let it slip before I see them

BBBee · 16/12/2007 11:45

oh i LOVE german christmas - i really do. It is all peppery ginger biscuits and candles and beautifulness.

we have a hodge podge of odd christmas traditions that involve a georgian feast chrsitmas eve, stollen for breakfast on christmas morn and then traditional christmas dinner and dutch new year. Am sorely tempted to crow bar the german thing in too though.

come back later boco with details - i want to copy!

BBBee · 16/12/2007 11:45

(maybe I am thinking scandinavian - but that willl be even easier - can get all the stuff from ikea!)

BBBee · 16/12/2007 11:46

whrere's 100 gone?

or is it because you have stolen her computer boco?

Bocohohoho · 16/12/2007 12:04

My computer has been fixed now - and the best thing was that it was totally free! Apparently it was a known fault with apple macs - something to do with a lodger board but i may have made that up, so they fixed it for nothing - and it works, hooray!

Keep seeing 100 around clutching lists and marching and muttering. I think she's sorting.

yulemoonfiend · 16/12/2007 12:16

oh gosh scan water drinking! I drank my requisite mount and then there was a hold up and half an hour after my delayed appointment I just had to pee and then I had to start all over again I was gone so long my relatives thought something terrible had happened...

BBeee, please will you explain why one should stand on one's head and drink water? Please????

FrannyandZooey · 16/12/2007 13:32

I drank too much last time, and had to be sent to do half a wee

it is in 2 hours am getting wildly excited / anxious

I pissed 100 off Bee, did you not see? She said she didn't feel ok on here any more after that except to just pop in occasionally

yulemoonfiend · 16/12/2007 13:37

aw zips, I know you were quite excited about that party, was it a bit of an anti-climax?
I need to make my cold-brain work. I have to attend a tutorial tomorrow full of ideas for a 20 minute presentation on Change In Mental Health....any ideas???

zippitippitoes · 16/12/2007 13:43

we had a larf in the end scaring the guests

FrayedKnot · 16/12/2007 14:51

Ah zip you should have come to my party.

Only beautiful people and all slightly unhinged

Good luck again Fran

I love those spicy gingery biscuity cake things...I am very much thinking of making ginger cake this afternoon, has anyone got a recipe?

We've had bacon, eggs & beans today and gone for a very bracing walk. I also made carrot, apple, ginger, beetroot & orange crunchie (I can;t call it a smoothie because the carrot makes it crunchy), which is my only concession to f&v today so far

zippitippitoes · 16/12/2007 15:09

ooh i would have done fk

next time maybe hunni xx
