For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Morning

I went out for dinner last night and it was fab if not especially 10 / 10 ish. But mozzarella with tomatoes was good, and wild mushrooms in a risotto. We'll gloss over pudding

It does depress / annoy me a bit that you don't usually automatically get veg / salad with a meal in a restaurant. There used to be a fab fab place up the road which was my favourite restaurant ever and the side veg was the best thing ever. I used to ask for double portions. It was always really lovely simple seasonal things like baked cabbage and roast parsnips. I miss it, a lot (they closed ) When I was feeling sick the other day dp asked me what I wanted to eat and I said "I want Bad Mama Pancakes from Food on the Hill"

i never eat put because it is so expensive but also agree that buying veg separately is ridiculous

sounds nice tho fran

i have promised climber lunch on thurs

Bocohohoho · 15/12/2007 10:00

Oh god i'm trapped in a cycle of toddler xmas parties. This will be the 4th today! Warm and floppy jam sandwiches on doughy white bread with a handful of quavers and a party ring. That has become my standard lunch, it's revolting.

TooTickyDoves · 15/12/2007 10:03

Oh yes Bee, that cake!

TooTickyDoves · 15/12/2007 10:08

We don't eat out but recently have bought small items from a Chinese takeaway. However, I think I shall have to stop going there because I am too crap and spineless to say, " I love the way you are so friendly and smiley and the way you don't mind the children fiddling with the Christmas decorations and you make lovely food but please oh please don't give my children lollipops because I am scared of the chemicals and colourings."

FrannyandZooey · 15/12/2007 10:08

Was it really good? I ordered it initially and then changed when I saw everyone else's berry cake coming out. The berry cake was very good.

if anyone has ever bought supermarket cake then have u found that eg tesco chocolate tart was really nice and then they changed it but carried on calling it the same thing and now its horrid and dito their chocolate log

FoulOlRon · 15/12/2007 10:50

morning all. I did a Good Thing l;ast night and helped my friend create a Pig Sty birthday cake masterpeice for her son's birthday. But I think I have caught her cold
The boys have gone for an (ahem) ''wander around town'' which I take to mean dh has finally gone to buy me a chritmas pressie so I hurridly took ds aside and said: ''neroli and jasmin oil, Body Shop. Nice pajamas, sixe 8/10. No chocolate or silly bath stuff. A nice book. OK???''

FoulOlRon · 15/12/2007 10:51

(sorry, tis me FMF in my Terry Pratchett tribute name...)

BBBee · 15/12/2007 13:21

oh FMF it's you - I was sneering in a 'who the fuck is that' way until you explained

the coconut chocolate thing was good franny it was so very good in a way where i sometimes find i am thinking about it without realising and then feeling all warm. But I think the berry one was a bit more 10/10.

I have eaten badly lately with my student ways but am going to be better now. Have got lots of fruit a vegetables in and had a huge salad with houmus and french bread for lunch and pickled onions on ritz crackers

fmf you don;t have a cold it is too quick for it to manifest if you only saw her last night. Do a shoulder stand and then drink a glass of water and with will be gone.

pinkspottywellies · 15/12/2007 14:50

Wellies are on my profile BBB.

What do people do to calm children down if they don't breastfeed? DD has just screamed for about half an hour. She wouldn't be cuddled, she wouldn't go down, she had calpol. Everything else I could think of really - she has 3 molars coming through and she was just screaming and poking her tongue out as if to say 'it doesn't fit any more ' I thought she was going to make herself sick then she had a bf and is now asleep [phew] but I don't know what else I could have done!! Poor little thing

I had a bacon sandwich for breakfast can I count the tomato ketchup [hopeful]

TooTickyDoves · 15/12/2007 15:11

Pink that is hard. I think you have to be there for her. In much the same way as nobody can really help if you are in labour but a friendly presence is good.

TooTickyDoves · 15/12/2007 15:14

I have spent 2 hours in a horrible soft play place with echoes. I am hungry and dehydrated. Ds2 has eaten unsuitable party foods and cake with blue icing. He has been noticeably stroppy since.

pinkspottywellies · 15/12/2007 15:18

Thanks TooT. I think I'm a bit rubbish at doing that - I just want to fix it. Must practice. Hope the blue icing effects wear off soon

TooTickyDoves · 15/12/2007 15:20

Bee, if I am next in London before you I shall buy you a slice of that cake and post it to you. And vice versa.

TooTickyDoves · 15/12/2007 15:21

Pink, does it help at all if you gently press your nose/cheekbone/chin against her cheek?

pinkspottywellies · 15/12/2007 15:30

I'll try that thanks TooT but she just fights away from me if I try to cuddle her. She's awake now and a bit better but still poking her tongue out!

TooTickyDoves · 15/12/2007 15:43

Good luck. Teething is one of those things that is utterly dreadful at the time but quickly forgotten.
Chewing on a cool flannel has helped too.

FrannyandZooey · 15/12/2007 15:50

cold cucumber sticks to suck?

have just done baby birthday party, my favourite. They all just sit and gape at me and the parents take loads of pictures. I love it

ate whole extra large mango by myself and some blueberries. Then a big smoothie thing with banana and pineapple in. Tried to eat beetroot but I have gone off it.

Bee I know what you mean about food that lingers in your mind in a really good way. They do the most delicious mozarella at Strada and for weeks after going I start wanting it, and buy really crap versions from supermarkets in an attempt to get it. It is never any good though.

I have got my scan tomorrow. I am excited and scared.

TooTickyDoves · 15/12/2007 16:05

Ooh Franny, how exciting! I'm sure everything will be fine.

yulemoonfiend · 15/12/2007 16:28

BBeee - are you teasing about standing on my head? WTF??
I am paranoid about getting ill this time of year (and messing up ds's birthday) and dh has had shitey heavy cold al week so it's a real battle between my immune system and the Inevitable
AF has just arrived which will explain why I feel like utter shite.
I have been uber 10/10 for a week but today all I have eaten is cheese and onion pasty (purchased for my by dh) and some lemon drizzle cake. And some spiced biscuit dough

Pink, teething can be so wretched, can't it? I used to try everything but in the wee hours, anbasol was all which really helped. (dh once amused chemist no end by asking for Anusol to rub on baby's gums...)

Franny! Just awwwwwwww...!.
