For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Yay Gibbon that is great news. Glad they put your mind at rest.

My cold is on it's way out However I have AF and her DP Uncle Migraine to contend with..had to call DH home from work this afternoon which is a rare occurance, as was under duvet with DS jumping on my head and it was all going badly wrong.

FMV I have had that feeling for the last 3-4 weeks and managed to thwart DH's tummy bug but then the monster cold got me. It was too good to be true unfortunately.

I did feel remarkably better after a couple of doses of the elderberry extract though.

Hello

I have done so much today that my muscles are humming. I'm sure I can hear them.
Does anybody have a spare shoulder I can borrow?

FrayedKnot · 13/12/2007 19:36

Hi TooT - humming muscles sounds like tired but in a good way? Or have I misinterpreted?

I have just ha d areally delicious soup with kale in it. I am very dubious about kale so it's worked well. Like a kind of minestrone or rebollito with onion, celery, carrot, tomato, stock, kale, butter beans.

TooTickyDoves · 13/12/2007 19:52

Not sure about good. Beyond tired I think.
Can't imagine kale soup.

What do you do with chard? I love it but the dcs seem to find it bitter.

FrannyandZooey · 13/12/2007 20:01

I love chard stir fried. Ds dislikes it despite liking lots of other green veg so there must be something about it

Hello all,

Jus popping in to say hello and strike everyone down with dreadful lurgy-- spread some goodness and cheer amongst you all.

Hurrah Gibbon, I am so, so pleased for you.

Boco, can only echo what everyone has said, you have dealt with the whole birthday table thing with such wisdom and restraint, it's an inspiration.

Tatties, the co-sleeping is going v well for DS, and sort of ok for me, I do get more sleep, but not always of the finest quality, if you know what I mean?

Franny, you seem to be back on track with the fruity breakfasts thing.

FMV, you seem to be doing all the right things to keep the lurgy at bay, fingers crossed for yu, being ill at xmas is no fun at all.

FK, it sounds yuck, feel better soon.

TooTickyDoves · 13/12/2007 20:04

Oh sorry Gibbon, missed your good news. Great

C&P, why is your shoulder dodgy? Is it a recent or long-term thing?

TooTickyDoves · 13/12/2007 20:07

Hope you get a good night's sleep FK.

Wombling Dd2 hasn't made card yet - poor child keeps getting dragged out with me. Life is v. fast atm!

kale is nice with scrambled egg on top

FrayedKnot · 13/12/2007 20:28

Kale in soup is brilliant. You just need to bubble it away for ages, I started it yesterday and it had about half an hour and another hour tonight.

By then it has mushed down quite a lot iyswim. Otherwise I am not keen on it. It always strikes me as a cross between cabbage and parsley.

Chard is good in omelettes and pasta sauce with tomato.

FrayedKnot · 13/12/2007 20:30

My migraine has gone for now. It comes on in the morning I suppose when hormone levels are higher and ?dehydration overnight. I shouldn;t be on here though.

I need to go and find something else to do..

MrsC if you are about, try the Lanes Sage and Garlic stuff for your cataarh. Tis powerful.

DingDongMerriLullyOnHigh · 13/12/2007 22:49

Fk about migraines
I used to get them terribly often & be wiped out for days
have them very rarely now & I'm sure it's been aided by drinking far more water & also feverfew is good.

rubbish 10/10 day...porridge,porridge and yet more porridge..& rice cakes

OverRated · 14/12/2007 03:32

Great News Gibbon

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 14/12/2007 08:41

Thanks everyone, how lovely to log on and see lovely messages

I wanted to love kale when I tried it. For some reason it made me think of being back in Ireland eating seaweed. I couldn't eat it at all, and as a veggie, that doesn't happen often. Although the scrambled egg on kale sounds interesting.

Much sympathy for the migraines, they are dreadful

Am going to be good today
