For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

FK,

You poor thing, you could try my ginger drink, it's marvellous for decongesting and soothing. Grate fresh ginger, steep in boiling water, Top up steeped ginger infusion with boiling water, juice of half a lemon and a spoonful of honey, pref manuka. Should clear nose nd throat and will also soothe sore throats & tastes lovely.

Feel better soon.

TooT, has the postie been to the TooT household?

Finally on the mend here, altho have had bad news. My dad has been contacted by a debt colection company trying to recover £50k, due to repossession of a house in the early 90's. He is about to retire at 68 next year, and is devastated that he may lose his house. I am really worried about/for him.

TooTickyDoves · 10/12/2007 22:48

I did go back Avi and I searched and even asked in a couple of shops to see if it had been handed in. I just hope it was found by somebody needy who will use and appreciate it. Not a bunch of yobs. It feels so personal. Or am I just over-sensitive?
Did I tell you dp can put pictures on glass chopping boards?

Ah. I think I read "clattering" as "shattering".

womblingalong · 10/12/2007 23:46

Avi,

Deep Breath: Yes we have responded re statute of limitations, but things are complicated by the fact that my mum (estranged & divorced from Dad), was the one who dealt or didn't deal with the fallout at the time, and my Dad was living abroad at the time and let her get on with it. He lost loads of his life insurance policies etc, at the time too, to pay costs etc, but is very hazy on the details, and has no documentation. I am sure my mum has been contacted by these people some years ago, and has buried her head in the sand (she has an untreated mental illness, and can be very irrational). I am pretty sure she will have mislaid or destroyed any documentation too, and they won't speak to each other, so I am iggy in the middle, yet again.

sorry for the incoherent essay, but it feels good to get some of this down!

TooTickyDoves · 10/12/2007 23:57

Do you/does he have any nice legal friends?

TooTickyDoves · 10/12/2007 23:58

Would CAB be any help?

TooTickyDoves · 11/12/2007 00:15

Look at these! here
Aren't they fab?

I am staying up far too late while I wait for the dough to rise/bread to bake. I'm not planning my time well atm!

OverRated · 11/12/2007 03:40

womblingalong, how scary. I hope you can get some good legal advice.

Zippi - what are you going to say to the climbing man?

Hope the poorly people feel better soon - the ginger tea sounds yummy. I might have to try it and I'm not even unwell. Yet.

zippitippitoes · 11/12/2007 07:43

oh wombling the debt thing sounds awful..I think I have heard of this before when debts are sold

hope you can get rid of the threat permanently

I seem to have returned to unasble to sleep status..back to the old drop off and then toss and turn worrying about everything under the sun

I told climber that i was open minded we are arranging a meet up which would have been outdoors but we gave that up and now we are going to Oxford as tourists probably..featuring Pitt Rivers museum

not looking forward to touring round the countryside getting soil samples from bogs this afternoon

FrannyandZooey · 11/12/2007 08:10

FK I second Boco's minty winds. Menthol is so simple and cheap and it blows your head off with its effectiveness

Wombling that sounds dreadful. What a tangly mess - trying to sort out things from years ago is terribly hard.

Zippi you didn't really fancy him though did you? Wasn't he geeky but not in a good way?

TooT sorry about the shopping. The thing about it being your mistake is the worst isn't it, you keep going back over it and thinking "ah but if I had only done X...."

Am eating raisins, banana, apple, pear and grapes. This is the nearest to my fruit slut breakfast I have got lately, so I am quite pleased.

Ds has snotty cold and those little puffed up eyes. He is not too miserable about it. I am (as usual) scared I am going to get it for the weekend when I have a party to run.

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 11/12/2007 10:18

Toot - I am certain your shopping went to a needy person and you will receive some other wondrous ting in return.

Fk - the cider vineger is my thing, I snort it nearly every week, well, gargle it anyway. I am having trouble getting rid of my sinusitis too, it has caused me great pain. It comes in waves and I still sound nasally but when it's bad it feels like someone is knifing me in the eyeball. It is worse after being on the computer so Ive been trying to limit my time. Steaming made it worse for me, I guess it's inflamed rather than blocked with mucous so it exacerbated it. The only thing that helps is ibuprofen and rest. I hope it goes soon.

FrannyandZooey · 11/12/2007 11:48

Where's FMF? and I know Tatties said she was busy but I don't think she should be allowed to be THAT busy

I feel unnaturally healthy when I read this thread

I am so sorry for everyone

yes well I didn't fancy him when I went on the first date, but then I hadn't really got into the idea of dating maybe?

anyway I have only met him once and was rather uncertain what the purpose of it was so now as he has unprompted suggested that we could actually consider the fact we met on a dating site, I might feel differently seeing him again? and he does appear to have several things going for him..such as he seems nice, he is not afraid to be a bit different, we do apparently like some of the same odd things, he has a proper job and a brain,he is single without children and possibly doesn't want any (not sure about that I can't remember his profile tbh)tho if he is even considering me he must have thought something about that ...but he is quite geeky maybe that is endearing? there are actually some vague signs that he might be loosening up slightly...I am thinking he isn't very experienced in relationships, but that is an educated guess and could be wrong...anyone who suggests the Pitt Rivers museum as a date location must be worth giving time to? non? oui?

FrannyandZooey · 11/12/2007 12:44

he sounds fab, I always thought he did sound fab tbh

my lunch is warming up (leftover pasta) so have had huge plate of salad as starter. Am sort of full now, but must persevere.

Have made sweet potato and lentil thing for dinner. [virtuous]

I guess i shall find out..he is on my facebook and so rather weirdly i have nosed at his photos and seen his mum and dad on there which does feel a bit odd

he is certainly a lot nicer than most of the other ones i have had contact with in all respects

just another case of zippi needs instructions

I have nil faith in my own judgement

perhaps being nice is quite enough to be going on with..wel on an objective measure he does have appealing qualities

FrannyandZooey · 11/12/2007 12:52

yes being nice and intelligent and appealing is quite enough to start off with

Hello all

LOL at minty winds and thank you for all the ideas. I have found some eucalyptus oil in the local chemist so I am going to have a bath later with that in. Thus far it is just a cold and not full on sinusitis. MrsC it;s one of the horridest things and agree steaming when you've got proper sinusitis doesn;t really help.

I've also just grated up some carrot, got some beetroot ready to whizz up with some fresh ornage and apple juice and make a drink. I haven;t got any ginger wombling otherwise I would defnitely try.

I am sorry to hear about your dad's situation. I don;t know much about debts at all I'm afraid so can;t suggest anything useful I don;t think

This afternoon I have been focred to contort myslef into a pop up tent possibly onl;y designed for children of age 6 and under, and fly to Mars. Luckily when we got there it was time for a cup of tea and slice of apple cake

FrannyandZooey · 11/12/2007 17:38

we have made mince pies and put the tree up

for some reason this seemed really appallingly hard. I am sure it should not have been.
