How often do you wash

Just wondering as I've seen a couple of post about this recently (not on Mumsnet). I shower twice a day and bath my DC once a day. This seems like a lot compared to some people?

i have a shower once a day in the morning and wash my whole body.

If i'm going out for the evening I usually shower again.

Roundearth · 05/08/2021 17:43

these threads always turn out well ..
I shower once daily and the kids have a bath every night for cleanliness and general bedtime routine.

LindaEllen · 05/08/2021 17:45

Shower & wash hair most evenings unless I go out and can't be bothered, then I just have a quick wash at the sink.

NuffSaidSam · 05/08/2021 17:46

As long as you and your DC are healthy and happy then you don't need to worry regardless of how other people shower/bathe.

To effect health, showering/bathing would have to be incredibly rare or incredibly often.

If you have concerns talk to your GP or HV.

emmathedilemma · 05/08/2021 18:44

I have a shower or bath most days (might not always at weekend), sometimes twice a day if I’ve had one before work and then done exercise in the evening. During lockdown I managed to not wash my hair every day (was doing that twice some days too) and it seems to have got used to less frequent washing which is good if I can manage it- not always an option after exercise!

Neverrains · 05/08/2021 18:46

I shower daily as I exercise daily and it’s pretty rank not to shower after exercise.
Toddler baths daily as part of his bedtime routine and because he’s filthy.
7 and 6 year olds bath or shower every other day.

We all bath every evening, wash at sink in the morning.

Starjammer · 05/08/2021 18:54

I wash myself with a rag on a stick every second Tuesday

budgun · 05/08/2021 18:55

I have a 45 second shower every 6 weeks or so, less in winter

HollysBush · 05/08/2021 18:56

Here we go 😁

Unless your a new poster. I’m not sure how you’ve avoided seeing the threads on here on this subject.

On the hour, every hour, with bleach as I just don’t feel clean. 🙃

Answers will range between those who have harnessed a rain cloud so they can permanently be showering because anything else is grim, and those who say "what is this washing you speak of?" Confused

silverlinin · 05/08/2021 19:15

I was genuinely shocked that some people don't wash daily. That's pretty grim! I understand if you have allergy's/skin conditions etc but to choose to just not wash daily is a bit offConfused

Haha! Great thread. I am off to sort out a rag on a stick. Sounds good.

intothewoodss · 05/08/2021 19:20

I bathe my kids every 2-3 days or more often if they're really grubby.

I shower every morning and evening, I'm quite fat and I would feel a bit sweaty and gross going to bed without a wash, especially in the summer.

Seriously though, there are lots of reasons why people don't wash every day.

DH is disabled, he has a physical disability which means he spends the majority of his day sitting down. He doesn't need to wash every day, he isn't dirty. He doesn't go anywhere. He can't go anywhere. It's a huge effort to get him showered and leaves him in a lot of pain and exhausted. But yeah, he's 'grim' Hmm

yikesanotherbooboo · 05/08/2021 19:25

I shower every morning and since COVID after work if I have seen patients.
When the DC were preteens they washed when they were dirty .

lljkk · 05/08/2021 19:26

We turn the hot water on for 3 hours on the first Tuesday of the month & all take 5 minute dips in the same bath water whether we need it or not.

Erm, it’s not ‘grim’ at all. You’ve admitted showering twice a day might be seen as excessive. Yes, it is. You’re stripping your body of its oils. Unless you work down a coal mine it’s really not necessary.

Extravagant. We wait for a full moon.

It really isn't, you know. People have spent most of human history not having daily showers, right up to very, very recently in the grand scheme of things. I shower ever day, but it would also be fine if I didn't.

CiaoForNiao · 05/08/2021 19:33

I shower as often as I need to for my skin/hair/lifestyle.

DemBonesDemBones · 05/08/2021 19:40

I shower once, sometimes twice a day. Two of my kids bath/shower once a day and the other two every two or 3 days.
