How often do you wash

Just wondering as I've seen a couple of post about this recently (not on Mumsnet). I shower twice a day and bath my DC once a day. This seems like a lot compared to some people?

Would you judge someone who is disabled, can't manage walking very well and cannot afford disabled bathing needs for not washing once a day?

The second word is off

Chicchicchicchiclana · 05/08/2021 19:41

I shower most days but if, for example, I get up and I know I'm going to spend the day gardening then I miss that morning shower slot and some days it gets to the afternoon and I cba to shower if I'm not going out anywhere so I miss a day. This is very unlikely to happen in the summer however as I would need a shower after gardening on a hot day.

My kids had a bath nearly every night when they were little as they both loved it and it was something dh could do when he came home from work and spend fun time with them. They didn't have dry skin conditions though so it would be different if either of them did, or if they cried through bath time (which my neighbours kids still do seemingly EVERY time).

hernamewas · 05/08/2021 19:42

@lljkk

We turn the hot water on for 3 hours on the first Tuesday of the month & all take 5 minute dips in the same bath water whether we need it or not.
I actually new a girl at school who's family did this. She could have an extra bath the week she was menstrating at that was it ☹️

silverlinin · 05/08/2021 19:44

@CaptainPovey no I would not, which is why I said I understand when people don't shower because of skin conditions/allergies etc. The same goes for disabilities or anything physically stopping you.

Why do you ask?
Lovelydovey · 05/08/2021 19:48

Shower every morning and wash face morning and evening.

Whysolong7 · 05/08/2021 19:48

Shower once a day every morning.

Kids bathed every night as part of the bedtime routine.

Wash hair every 2-3 days. It gets very dry if I do more frequently.

gingercatpat · 05/08/2021 19:49

If you shower daily and bathe your kids daily, do you each use a fresh towel everyday?

Northernsoullover · 05/08/2021 19:51

@silverlinin

I was genuinely shocked that some people don't wash daily. That's pretty grim! I understand if you have allergy's/skin conditions etc but to choose to just not wash daily is a bit offConfused
It depends. Mostly daily, occasionally twice if I've exercised or in warm weather. However, if I don't plan on going anywhere and I'm not on a promise then it doesn't hurt to skip a day. It's not grim to miss a day and twice a day probably is excessive....so there ! Thhhbbp (that's a raspberry for you OP)
silverlinin · 05/08/2021 19:51

@gingercatpat yes

I have a shower daily but dc probably every 2-3 days.

Poppop4 · 05/08/2021 20:01

I don’t shower daily and don’t consider myself to be grim!
I shower every other day, only daily if I’ve been at work, or doing something like gardening.
I don’t smell, nor am I dirty.
I wash my face and clean my teeth daily of course.
In the very hot weather I shower daily, occasionally twice a day if it’s mega hot and I need to cool down.

waitingpatientlyforspring · 05/08/2021 20:10

@ThisIsStartingToBoreMe

i have a shower once a day in the morning and wash my whole body.

If i'm going out for the evening I usually shower again.

This is what we do. Dd 12 baths probably 3 tomes a week, ds 13 showers maybe the same.
Oblomov21 · 05/08/2021 20:16

"I was genuinely shocked that some people don't wash daily. "

You are talking absolute bullshit. I shower every morning. But actually it's not good for our skin to wash this much. And to do it twice a day, is ott. Medical research says so.

Greenrubber · 05/08/2021 20:17

I shower daily at least once obviously if I have sex /gym I shower after that also!

I dont wash my hair tho it's been about 9 months

Husband is always twice a day

DD quick shower of she needs it and a bath once a week

Talking bullshit because I'm shocked grown adults don't think it's necessary to wash every day? I can assure you I am very shocked.

@Starjammer

I wash myself with a rag on a stick every second Tuesday
No need to show off! 🤣
namechange87682938 · 05/08/2021 20:24

Yup I'm a manky sod. I don't wash every day. If I fancy a was I have one so granted in the summer that's most days. Every other day is my usual in colder months unless I feel like I need it.

careerchangeperhaps · 05/08/2021 20:24

I shower most days in the morning. If I'm not leaving the house I might have a quick wash at the sink instead (soap & a flannel - face, pits and bits Smile).

If I've been for an evening run, then I'll shower when I get back but then may not shower again the next morning.

Kids (10 & 8) shower about 3 times a week or more if it's hot / we've been swimming / they've played sport.

80sMum · 05/08/2021 20:26

I take a yearly bath, whether I need it or not. I think routine is important.

ajja2021 · 05/08/2021 20:26

Shower in the morning, bath/shower of an evening but mostly because I'm so pregnant and it soothes my back.

I wash my hair daily (I know you're not supposed to but I've been doing it forever)

I bathe DC once a day

lazylinguist · 05/08/2021 20:30

So, what do you think will happen if you don't wash every day, OP? Something 'shocking'? Also - you allow that it's ok for people with certain allergies, skin conditions or disabilities not to shower every day. But presumably you must still think they are grim, dirty or unhygienic if that's what you think other people would be if they didn't wash every day? After all, having an allergy doesn't magically make your skin stay cleaner for longer.

Greenrubber · 05/08/2021 20:35

I don't get the grim comment!
My showers are so quick it's just so I know my face, ass n pits are clean and easier in the shower than in the basin like less than 3 min

People who shower every other day or whatever are not disgusting

LittleCatDog · 05/08/2021 20:38

Haha! That made me laugh GrinGrin
