How often do you wash

Just wondering as I've seen a couple of post about this recently (not on Mumsnet). I shower twice a day and bath my DC once a day. This seems like a lot compared to some people?

Alot of rude people on here.

Kindness peeps, no need to be nasty.

OP, we all shower once/twice daily and moreso after gardening/exercise.

Musication · 06/08/2021 15:00

I shower every day and wash my hair every other.
My DC every other day unless they've got especially dirty.

I find it strange that the people getting angry are the ones who don't wash daily...maybe I hit a nerve Wink

It's your faux shock and calling people grim that did it.

OldTinHat · 06/08/2021 16:07

Once in spring and once in autumn if the stream is flowing. If not then I don't bother.

IdblowJonSnow · 06/08/2021 16:13

Every day. One of my kids showers daily because they want to. The other (7 years) every other day as that's her preference.
I'd not let them go longer than 2 days usually anyway.
Personally I'm a naturally smelly person and would honk if I didn't shower daily! DH is the same! Grin

silverlinin · 06/08/2021 16:16

@GintyMcGinty

Isn't it customary to shower before using a communal pool??

Pre-Covid yes it is.

However the rules of current public swimming pools in Scotland are that you must arrive "beach ready" wearing your costume under your clothes, get undressed quickly and go straight into the water.

Post swim a very short shower is allowed but they prefer you to towel dry and go home and shower.

Makes sense for it to be compulsory seeing as by the sound of it half of the pool sees it as their daily wash!

'I find it strange that the people getting angry are the ones who don't wash daily...maybe I hit a nerve'

You find it strange that the people you (wrongly) called grim and disgusting are the ones who are angry?

You shouldn't. You should know full well if you are nasty to someone they are likely to be upset/angry. Small children know this.

Do you think you've suffered some sort of over-cleaning linked brain injury that's left you unable to understand basic cause and effect relationships? What a tragic end to this thread! I think you should contact your GP. All the best 💐

UnsuitableHat · 06/08/2021 16:32

I’ve never washed. I’m shocked that anyone does.

bonfireheart · 06/08/2021 16:59

Can't believe I went on twitter and a tweet about celebs bathing popped up on my feed, with this pics...

I shower once a day; first thing in the am. Kids once a week as they have psoriasis so it’s not advised anymore. They do their faces and hands… and the toddler her arms and legs from nursery paint

Nope. I shower daily, but I still disagree with you and find the germ-phobic, Zoflora-wielding, excessive showering, clean towel every day, don't let your outside clothes touch anything in your house brigade profoundly tedious, irritating and above all misguided!

MorriseysGladioli · 06/08/2021 17:40

I find it strange to ask a question about people's preference as an excuse to patronise them tedious too.
It's pretty obvious that each house and it's occupants live differently.
Why that should "shock" anyone I have no idea.

Pretty sure OP is a troll. Gotta be right?

I'm beginning to think so. Why else start an innocent sounding thread and then bitch about posters washing habits that aren't the same as theirs? I feel a bit sad that you can't tell when you actually need a wash OP and just got yourself stuck in a routine. It sounds exhausting. But not so sad that I'll give a shit by the time I've clicked off this thread Grin
felulageller · 07/08/2021 07:35

I don't wash daily but I'm sure I'm cleaner than the people that do- eg I read a thread on here where daily showerers admitted to not washing their legs/ feet (boak!)

I bath rather than shower and my whole body gets exfoliated and washed. Some shaving. Pumice on feet. Loofah and sponge. It takes an hour including face scrub/mask and wash/condition hair but I come out squeaky clean.

A 5 min shower is no comparison. You are just getting wet not clean. That's bogging to me.

userxx · 07/08/2021 08:05

@felulageller Totally agree. I never feel properly clean after a shower. Showers are useful for washing hair but baths give the squeaky clean feeling.

Neverrains · 07/08/2021 08:07

I like bath and showers but disagree that you’re cleaner after a bath… you are sitting in the skin cells that you exfoliate off. I have a bath to relax rather than to get me clean.
But then I exfoliate (and wash my legs and feet Wink) in the shower.

Neverrains · 07/08/2021 08:08

I mean… it’s not one or the other though is it? I wash properly in the shower.

But you CAN get clean in a 5 min shower. I don't wash my hair in it but I wash absolutely everything else including my legs Grin and scrub my feet and it takes me around 5 minutes

I remember when I was young it was said the dirty kids were the most healthy, as the body got used to bacteria etc. !

GintyMcGinty · 09/08/2021 09:38

Swimming pools were originally called The Public Baths because that was their primary purpose.

It will be interesting to see now that Scotland has moved 'beyond level zero' whether public pools will allow showers again.

DinosaurDiana · 09/08/2021 09:39

Shower twice a day, wash hair on alternate days.

thereisonlyoneofme · 09/08/2021 11:22

Its impossible to read in a shower too !

Don't think this is really a thing since covid though!
