How often do you wash

Just wondering as I've seen a couple of post about this recently (not on Mumsnet). I shower twice a day and bath my DC once a day. This seems like a lot compared to some people?

OP posts:

@80sMum

I take a yearly bath, whether I need it or not. I think routine is important.

🤣🤣. Seems somewhat excessive to me, surely every 18 months would be adequate.

RadioSixMusicLover · 05/08/2021 20:49

Talking bullshit because I'm shocked grown adults don't think it's necessary to wash every day? I can assure you I am very shocked.

You really need to get out more if that’s what shocks you, op.

MolyHolyGuacamole · 05/08/2021 20:56

@silverlinin

I was genuinely shocked that some people don't wash daily. That's pretty grim! I understand if you have allergy's/skin conditions etc but to choose to just not wash daily is a bit offConfused
This is something that we've NEVER heard before on MN.

'I was genuinely shocked that some people don't wash daily.'

You should probably try and open your mind a little, educate yourself. You shouldn't really be genuinely shocked that someone washes to a different schedule than you. You must live an extraordinarily sheltered life and tbh that will be doing you more harm than your shower habits!

'That's pretty grim!'

No it isn't.

'to choose to just not wash daily is a bit off'

No it's not.

WorriedMillie · 05/08/2021 21:19

What about people with severe depression, for whom showering daily is just too much, because they can barely put one foot in front of the other. Are they “grim” too?

You sound quite judgmental and sticky beakish, OP.

PolytheneRam · 05/08/2021 21:21

Wire brush and dettol at least three times an hour.

crochetandcoffeebreaks · 05/08/2021 21:26

Once every leap year just to break up the monotony. If I'm feeling risqué I'll even use soap.

Marriedtothesilverfox · 05/08/2021 21:29

Every other month

So judgemental. I have chronic fatigue amongst other things, I wash every other day to save energy. Rank I knowHmm
Twobirdsinatree · 05/08/2021 21:37

I only have a bath no shower in the house so I do bath once a day... id not do that if I had a shower tho.
My kids I bath a couple times a week... unless I need to do it more because they have gotten particularly dirty.
I wash my hair every two days... if I washed it more than that it would be like straw.

I remember when I was a child I had a bath and a hair wash only once a week!

I do think some people wash a bit too much now days.. im surprised they have any skin and hair left! Not to mention the impact on the environment. Its a bit pointless to have two showers a day unless you work in a really physically demanding job or a really dirty job like a refuse collector or as a farm hand etc... or if you've been to the gym I guess

bonfireheart · 05/08/2021 21:37

Hate threads like this. I spent a lot of my childhood in a country where water is scarce. The "I have a bath twice a day and it's still enough" brigade annoy me.

Twobirdsinatree · 05/08/2021 21:40

I'm not surprised someone on mumsnet is shocked that not everyone washes every single day... I once read a thread on here written by someone who genuinely thought it was disgusting to go outside with wet hair that hadn't been blow dried...

And then there's the great toilet brush and bathroom bin debate lmao

I dont know how some people cope being so disgusted by everything where do they get that type of energy?

feb2022 · 05/08/2021 21:41

Only sometime on my birthday
And that's only a pit shave and a shampoo

Maggiesfarm · 05/08/2021 21:41

What you do is quite normal op.

dementedma · 05/08/2021 21:45

When I feel I need it. Not necessarily every day. Hairwash twice a week.

AbjectHorror · 05/08/2021 21:50

Once a day, twice if it's very hot or I'm otherwise a bit sweaty! DC once a day.

TedHastingsweeDonkey · 05/08/2021 21:55

Shower every single day, sometimes twice. DH is the same. Also give DC a bath every evening and quick was in mornings. I couldn't NOT. This feels like the right routine for us.

lollipoprainbow · 05/08/2021 22:01

I wash myself with a rag on a stick every second Tuesday

SmileSmileSmile

bonfireheart · 05/08/2021 22:10

Most posters should turn their hallways into human carwash so everyone who walks into the house gets water thrown on them with shampoo and bubbles and then a machine at the end to dry them.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 05/08/2021 22:24

When I go to the car wash every Saturday morning I just open all the windows - and I get a blow dry thrown in!

Tinpotspectator · 05/08/2021 22:37

@TwoLeftSocksWithHoles 🤣🤣🤣

Tinpotspectator · 05/08/2021 22:41

I shower (almost) daily but I don't use soap daily. A dermatologist told me it was drying. I use it mainly under arms and 'personal areas'. I definitely don't smell! Often I use water elsewhere, sometimes I use an oat based cream (Avena 500ml) and sometimes shower wash/gel.

Onthebrink87 · 05/08/2021 23:53

Only ever during a full moon 🙄

waterlego · 06/08/2021 00:18

Lol @ ‘shocked’ 😆

Since you asked, I shower daily OP, but other people’s showering schedules are none of my business. I trust people to make appropriate decisions for their own bodies and circumstances.

And thanks for doing your bit for the environment with your twice daily showers and fresh towels each time 🙄
