For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Morning!

I have eaten some dried fruit. I have a headache. DH is still in bed

I am supposed to be visiting my Grandmother today. An hour's visit usually feels like visiting anyone else for the equivalent of about 1,009,8876 hours. Much as I love her

FrayedKnot · 02/12/2007 08:09

Pink I know not about the squash seeds.

I suppose you could toast them slowly in the oven?

BBBee · 02/12/2007 08:18

clueless re butternut squash - sorry pink. do we get to see your wellies?

BBBee · 02/12/2007 08:19

(you could dry roast in a pan so you can keep tasting them to see how they are doing)

OverRated · 02/12/2007 08:24

OOo, FK, good luck

Where is the question, Pinkspottywellies?

My mum sent us advent calendars so we have chocolate ones. One for DS. And one for me. So we don't argue over who gets the chocolate, apparently I think I'll still be getting my own when I am 60!

BBBee · 02/12/2007 08:27

OR - thank you fo rhavving chocolate advent calendars.

I am distracting myself from my essay by thinking about festivifying my name....

lullabyloo · 02/12/2007 09:48

O little town of BBBeeethlehem....or something

Apple,pear,cinnamon compote with blueberries
carrot & ginger juice
quinoa with toasted sesame seeds

I think Avi sent the gales & rain back to Kent because I was gloating about crisp sunny days.....it's positively vile out there

I want to make ginger cake...........do you have a recipe per chance?

MrsCarrot · 02/12/2007 09:52

Lullaby - I thnk you are the only one with decorations up.

I was about to be proud of my pear/blackberry/blueberry/apple combo but I feel I have been gazumped! We are having apple and cinnamon buckwheat pancakes in a bit though.

It is grim here too, I think we have a proper roast today with gravy, I really fancy celeriac mash.

Toot - I do like the christmas fairs but not because they are crap, because I get claustrophic and jumble saley. I think I would like a proper fair as you describe.

I think next year we should have a 10/10 field trip to a chrustmas market somewhere in Europe, Lille or Cologne. I will organise it.

Boco · 02/12/2007 10:04

Good morning veggers.
Yesterday i had the worst ever 10/10 day and didn't even have one portion. Which is why i didn't visit. We had to go off early to norwich to drop off broken computer and wanted to buy the girls a present from toysrus. There was a big crash and the road was closed, so it took us two hours to get there, we had 20 minutes in the awful packed with tat shop which dp won't even go into, and they didn't have what i went for anyway, then 2 hours back home as road still closed. - we'd been hoping to have lunch, but didn't get home til 3pm, having not eaten anything - very bad moods all round. then in the evening it all went wrong and we were helping my mum who has just moved and had no food, so we shared the most disgusting pizza i've ever tasted. Must do better today.

MrsCarrot · 02/12/2007 10:08

You should have come here for lunch, we sat here eating egg sandwiches and watched Whale Rider, which I have to say was very good but not really appropriate for dd.

lullabyloo · 02/12/2007 10:10

oh Boco...what a perfectly horrid day...you poor things

MrsC....your breakfast is far superior to mine....mmmmmmmmmm to pancakes....I wish someone would make me some

please MrsC can I come on the field trip?
Shall we hire a green coach bedecked with fruit & veg?

filthymindedvixen · 02/12/2007 10:36

I had home made florentine pizza last night. Twas very lovely. The fell asleep halfway through A Mighty Wind. Whish wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

Today we are going round for another mammoth, too-man-people sunday lunch. But it is not at my house and I am not cooking so I don't care.

I drank coffee at the meet-up. I never drink coffee. I think it was nerves.

filthymindedvixen · 02/12/2007 11:00

dh is away all next week. I'd be pathetically grateful for some scrabble invites...

MrsCarrot · 02/12/2007 11:19

Did you go last night, FMV, was it good?

Franny - do you remember giving me a carrot picture once of a woman in carrot outfit? If you still have it can I cope it for my profile please...

where are you anyway, are you Doing Too Much?

filthymindedvixen · 02/12/2007 11:23

god no MrsC, I didn't go...the 10/10 one was big enough for me

Zippi went didn't she? I seem to remember talk of her going in a swimsuit a la Modesty Blaize....

filthymindedvixen · 02/12/2007 11:25

FrannyandZooey · 02/12/2007 12:35

and NO JAM

FMF I will play S%$"^*&le. PLease invite me.

Boco · 02/12/2007 12:44

Thank you franny, i sure do love that poster. Haven't got a clue how to add to my profile though, so will just look at it and chuckle for a bit.

After disaster of toysrus i thought i'd find the girls something from ebay, as Lola really loves sylvanian families but it's SO stupidly expensive so thought i'd find something second hand. But even second hand and battered it's STILL about a thousand pounds for a small toilet. [grumpy old woman emoticom]
