i have just posted steves DLA forms and think it is very unfair that after years of doing the Farkin forms for three kids with Autism that i have had to do one for Steve, the lovely macmillan nurse came yesterday to help with the form and as we are applying under the
farking special rules it did mean that we didn't have to fill the whole forms out but it does say quite clearly that it is for people who have less than 6 months to live and that has made me sad
Steves consultant had to fill in a form to say that he could apply under the special rules and his report made difficult reading.
the bit where he put " very poor prognosis" has hit me very badly.
Steve is blissfully unaware of any of this which is hard as i can't talk to him about it.
sorry for the long waffley self pitying thread but i just needed to let it out
to be honest i am not bothered about the money side of the DLA but do need a blue badge for steve as mobility is an issue.

I'm sorry, onlyjoking. It must be very hard for you, having to see it all in black and white like that .

clumsymum · 16/11/2007 12:42

Sweetheart, I understand that this must be VERY tough for you. Seeing it all written down must make it all seem more real, more unavoidable.

I read your threads, never commented before, as have no experience of what you are going thru'. You are so strong, so brave.

My heart goes out to you, I send you lots of Hugs, in case that can be any help at all.

BoysAreLikeReindeer · 16/11/2007 12:44

So sorry, OJ

How dreadful for you all.

Hugs Ju

onlyjoking9329 · 16/11/2007 12:52

it does make it seem much too real.
i kind of feel disloyal to steve for doing it.
The Mac nurse spoke to steve a while ago about DLA and steve said he didn't think he would get it.
if he does get it it will be a blow, if he gets it under the specail rules it will be a bigger blow
the Mac nurse had written on the envelope "special rules Dept" i wanted to scrub it off.

Oh OJ - I'm so sorry.

Buda · 16/11/2007 13:26

Am so sad for you all OJ.

brimfull · 16/11/2007 13:28

that must've been heartbreaking to fill the form out.

I have a friend who has motor neuron disease. She was similarly devastated when the insurance company paid her mortgage off.

The small technical things can be the hardest to take.

Seeing things in black and white must be quite a shock for you.

onlyjoking9329 · 16/11/2007 13:43

oh dear i hadn't even thought about the insurance for the mortgage
i am trying to be practicle but sometimes feelings get all tangled up in it all.

I'm so sorry you're having to go through this

uberalice · 16/11/2007 14:02

Oj, I've not posted on your threads before but you're all in my thoughts a lot. xx

BadKitten · 16/11/2007 14:12

I'm so sorry that you are having to go through this. I wish bureaucracy could be more discrete, it must seem like a very harsh reminder.

pagwatch · 16/11/2007 14:12

I am so sorry - I can't imagine how difficult this must be for all of you.
I only have to do the DLA for one son with ASD and i find that sould destroying.
I am thinking of you and i wish you the courage you need and the support you deserve .

onlyjoking9329 · 16/11/2007 15:02

Steve has had a really really good day with no pain
He has been out to the shop on his own which is pretty amazing, first time he has been out alone for ages, he came back with chocolates for me and a lovely thankyou card
