Really not feeling like myself and feeling very ill

I am 26 and a mum to an 8 month old. I am really struggling with eating. I feel sick when I eat and feel better if I force it down. I then feel better for about half an hour and then feel sick again. I'm exhausted. I know I'm a mum to a little one but this is beyond exhaustion. I could nap all day and still sleep all night. I can actually feel my eyes shutting when I'm changing her nappy. I'm constantly thirsty. And all I want is sugar. Orange juice or full sugar cola.
I took a pregnancy test on the off chance and both came back negative. I had a period 10 days ago so I'm thinking that's very unlikely.
I rang the doctors who told me no appointments because of covid and if I'm worried to call 111.
I dont think it's an out of hours gp thing. It doesn't feel like a hospital thing. It's been going on for 5 days. And I'm starting to worry

Thanks for the kind words. They think it's diabetes too. I've felt tired for weeks but I've got a baby and she is a handful. Plus I know I'm not eating well. Im eating on the go with her. I will mention the ketones when the doctor comes. I've lost quite a lot of weight which shocked me to see. They've bought me some food and water. And the nurses on the ward are lovely. I know my daughter will be fine with dad.
Thank you everyone. I wouldn't have come without you and it could have been a lot worse

Well done for going in and so glad you’re being looked after. I hope you start to feel a bit better soon and can get some rest. I went into hospital when my DD was 8 months. It was odd for me but I wasn’t worried about her. She was happy too.

Constant thirst and tiredness can be indicators of diabetes: did the GP check your blood sugars?

You’re in the right place girly, and don’t you think about getting home until they sort you! We’re all for company but a good sleep will really help x

Oh OP I'm so glad you went to ANE. What a scary experience but once you're stabilised and your treatment is sorted diabetes is very manageable and it's not as scary if you feel like this in the future because you know what it is and how to react.
Sending positive vibes.

I'm glad you're being looked after, OP. I'm sorry you're missing your baby girl.

I hope you manage some sleep. Most wards should offer eye masks and ear plugs these days.

So glad you've got it checked. Assuming it's type 1, there will be lots of info to take in, fairly quickly. You'll start to feel much better very quickly once you get some insulin in you.

There's a board on here for diabetes, so pop along and ask questions. There are tons of FB groups offering support, and if you search for or use the hashtag #GBdoc on Twitter, you'll find the GB diabetes online community. There's tons of peer support as and when you need it, in lots of different places.

Good luck.

Bless you, OP. I know you're missing your little one but she needs you fit and healthy. :)
DH was diagnosed as diabetic, once they got him balanced he felt so much better. He wasn't in hospital too long.

So sorry, just seen your updates. So glad you’re being taken care of. Also, with diabetic husband and several other relatives, wanted to say that with technological advances, diabetes is no longer the devastating diagnosis that it used to be. With care, it is very manageable now.
Sleep well X

@blvdbrokendreams
Bless you...
I hope they sort your possible diabetes {Sounds likely}?
My friend's husband developed it in his thirties, and was exhausted, kept drinking litres of sugary pop.

His diabetes is well managed now, but at the time of his diagnosis, I read a book about diabetic called ''Metal Jam'' ..It was so informative and very good..
It might be a bit out of date now, but here is is :

The reviews tell you how good others found it, too...

Best of luck

PS I kept falling asleep in public...It was a thyroid issue. I too felt really exhausted.
