For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

frothykindofadrink · 13/11/2007 16:02

sorry lionheart that was meant to link to a picture of Barbra Streisand in Hello Dolly

it wasn't totty or nuffink so you didn't miss anything

frothykindofadrink · 13/11/2007 16:03

here we are I've got the nose and everything

you think I'm kidding

lionheart · 13/11/2007 16:07

Oh, I dunno, I have a soft spot for her.

FrayedKnot · 13/11/2007 16:16

Hello dear Veggers

Have just realized our diversion due to Engineering works means we could go and see the crack and the loofah in the morning

kind of way

Have eaten veg & lentil soup, dried fruit, a rather dubious but nevertheless veg packed cheese salad in town in the cafe in our "Mall" while being serenaded by that Italian bloke that does covers in Italian on the pa system.
Our town really deserves awards for its cheesiness.

DANCESwithHughJackman · 13/11/2007 16:18

Ok, I never post on this thread but must say I hate love the new title as it has THAT song running through my head on continuous play and I didn't even like it the first time

SauerKraut · 13/11/2007 16:27

Good evening. I may re-emerge from RL back to the safe if rather wacky coccoon of 10/10. I can't tell you what I've been eating because it involves too much coffee and custard creams, although we did adventurously make a French vegetable quiche with fennel puree and courgettes and things the other day.
I see you are all looking forward to the meet-up - or not??

ahundredtimes · 13/11/2007 16:28

We're getting a lot of visitors with this thread title aren't we? And Boco is never here to greet them.

Thank you for the links lionheart, but I need a more grown-up one, sort of like the one in Fanny & Alexander, but without the candles.

Foxy told me there is a toy theatre shop in Covent Garden, and as dh is in London today he has gone to look.

But thanks.

You could all post a photo of yourselves on the day and I could look at them all and have my own meet-up and you would all say what I wanted you all to say...

ahundredtimes · 13/11/2007 16:33

Yes. SK. That's a brilliant idea. You must all do that.

gizmo · 13/11/2007 16:36

Maybe you could use 100x little theatre, SauerKraut, stick the faces on little puppets and have them all act out a mumsnet meet up.

Or would that be a bit creepy?

SauerKraut · 13/11/2007 16:39

Class, Gizmo, dd2 has a mini-version of it, I'll use that. Now to allot the puppets. Who'd like to be the wolf and who's old enough to be the grandmother???

MrsCarrot · 13/11/2007 17:00

That would be a bit creepy, like voodoo dolls or something. You might have complete control over our actions. Lionhart might say, Boco, pass the borlotti beans, and she means too, but tips them over Avi's head. It would be too funny. And creepy.

MrsCarrot · 13/11/2007 17:02

Sorry - it's in very bad taste to laugh at one's own joke but I am ROFL at the thought of us all looking shocked as we acted out wooden little scenarios against our will.

MrsCarrot · 13/11/2007 17:03

it would be even weirder if all the vegetables were wooden

gizmo · 13/11/2007 17:04

It would be like 'Being John Malkovich' with evil pupper master SauerKraut pulling all your strings..

Dance, puppets! Dance!!!!

SauerKraut · 13/11/2007 17:08

No no no no, Boco would be decorating our house with wonderful art and I would make Lully stay in the kitchen until she had cooked us all some of her specialities and there would be no borlotti bean tipping thank you very much as I would have tidied the house for the occasion. Actually I wouldn't- I would just blind you all to the mess.

gizmo · 13/11/2007 17:08

Mrs Carrot, I think we've freaked them out.

IdrisTheDragon · 13/11/2007 17:09

I would go round blowing fire everywhere.

Actually I would probably sit in a corner and try and read a book .

I am not at all freaked out by the way .

gizmo · 13/11/2007 17:10

Phew.

IdrisTheDragon · 13/11/2007 17:11

In fact I rather like the idea. I suppose Franny would be holding the strings, as it were.

IntergalacticWalrus · 13/11/2007 17:13

Have ahd apple, pear, 4 satsumas, grapes, sweetcorn so fasr today

Will be having pasta with onion/tomato/pepper and mushrooms and a bit of cheese for supper later. I need to find something else to eat as well. I am quiet enjoying this 10 a day thing, I feel better already [magic]

I also went for a long a brisk walk this morning. DS2 was in the pushchair and DS1 was at pre school, so I could walk faster then a snail's pace. It was gloroius!

lionheart · 13/11/2007 17:15

You are scaring me now.

frothykindofadrink · 13/11/2007 17:17

arf at borlotti beans

are you lot going to spend your time together trying to out-veg each other?

"I'll have the mung beans with salsify and radicchio. Oh and what kind of gourds do you have? What? Only two? Good heavens who suggested this place? I don't know why we even came.

lionheart · 13/11/2007 17:18

Now you are probably scaring Franny.
