For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Toot - Just in case you didn't get my reply, thankyou, I appreciate beakiness. When is a good time do you think?

Boco - Thanks! We laughed at the Miss Carrot and she was so excited. It was the only thing that came in the post (useless family ) and she had raced to the door so thank you so much.

TooTicky · 03/11/2007 13:29

I did MrsC and have re-replied Do it now!

Fmf, you caused me to run and check the date on the train tickets in a very paranoid way. However, you are forgiven. I will email you if you like if you tell me your email address.

Yes, I thought horseradish was long too.

TooTicky · 03/11/2007 13:31

I have an urge to make my hair go purple. Am I just picking up on other people's crises? I am v. sorely tempted.

FMF I emailed you yesterday

I had a panic about our train tickets yesterday, we bought them AGES ago and put them in a Safe Place. I can never remember where the Safe Place is though... I found them pretty quickly though so all is ok.

What was the verdict on sparkly names on t-shirts?

Franny I remember being ravenous in the early stages of pregnancy. It is awkward when you are trying to keep it secret isn't it?

We were thinking about going to a bonfire tonight but don't think we will now as ds is a bit coldy... we should get to see some from the window though

FrayedKnot · 03/11/2007 13:49

Hullo!

Happy Birthday to Ms Carrot - hope the cake has worked out OK and things are not too bad boob-wise today

LL wow hope teh party goes well...I was worried about where you had got to..

TooT I tried to buy some henna this week in a fit of wanting to have a bit of a change (my hair is dark so it only ever adds lowlights iyswim) but our local hippy shop doesn;t sell it...I was most disdainful I have to say.

Train tickets am just assessing pre-christmas finances and not liking what I see at all

I am going to try again with the photo

TooTicky · 03/11/2007 13:57

I loved henna for years but it doesn't seem to suit me any more.

Avi, thanks for your encouragement It's quite an exciting thought

TooTicky · 03/11/2007 14:00

Don't know where you're coming from FK but sometimes it's cheaper to buy a family railcard and actually pay for an under 5 child.

And if you can find somewhere that sells henna loose, that is greatly cheaper than pre-packaged.

FrannyandZooey · 03/11/2007 14:15

avi am v sorry have persevered and refreshed a lot and got it to work

FK, may I join you head down in that pile of sand...

Happy birthday to the mini 10/10nners.

Poo, my best friends (whose children are the boys' best friends) have had to cancel tomorrow evening. Which means I now have a bunch of random people coming round without the 'glue' to stick them all together IFKWIM.

lionheart · 03/11/2007 16:21

I have found a recipe for muffins that works with gluten free flour..they were edible, they were yummy, they tasted like ordinary muffins

Hoorah!

I also recently bought some silicon muffin cases and I thik they probably helped too.

If anyone is interested I feel the need to update in a blog-like manner about not shopping at teh supermarket. I have been doing pretty well although have had to resort to our local Somerfield (walking distance) for some things - mostly non-food, maybe 3-4 items.

I am finding it quite hard to keep up with demand though. I can buy lots of stuff from our Health Food shop but it is in town and I find it difficult to carry as much stuff as I need each trip, without needing to go twice a week, which I often can;t do, so I have decided that I will bulk buy some staple items once every couple of months, from Waitrose probably.

I am pleased to have tried it and seen what works. I have been amazed about how much better the fruit & vegetables are from both teh greengrocer and farm shop, and meat is undoubtedly better, but I knew it would be.

And I haven;t spent any more money

ahundredtimes · 03/11/2007 19:03

Well done FK.
Happy Birthday MissC.

I went out last night - it wasn't good - and now tonight is the sexy witch party. I emailed a friend in London about this, she emailed back 'Oh FGS, what is this, Freshers Week?'

She's sort of right. I'm going to be Frumpy Member of the Faculty Witch.

How are you all? I'm just rushing in and out.

FrayedKnot · 03/11/2007 19:21

LOL at Sexy Witch Party.

Does everyone dress as a sexy witch, even the men?

God we have fireworks on all 4 sides simultaneously. It's a bit much even for me.

ahundredtimes · 03/11/2007 19:25

No the men are Something Warlocks, I can't remember what and we've lost the invitation.

I feel awful. I had no idea we were so far into November - I've just done Halloween. I have organised or thought about fireworks at all. I'm going to look for displays in Bath now, hopefully there will be one tomorrow.

FrayedKnot · 03/11/2007 19:42

Wispy? Wilful? Wonky? Wnaky?

So 100 if you are having fireworks mid November, does it mean you can have Christmas sometime in january? Actually that sounds like a marvellous idea!

ahundredtimes · 03/11/2007 20:33

Wnaky gets my vote, but it probably wasn't that. I am wearing black dress, short black swirly sort of coat, and good black shoes, and I realize that my mid-life crisis hair IS quite sexy witch, so I feel quite good. I also have a mask from Venice in my pocket - a sort of beaky mask that the spooky doctors used to wear - and I shall put that on as I make my grand entrance.

And fireworks. I KNOW. My poor children. They should get a contract drawn up that I have to sign saying I agree to Remember and Celebrate All High Days, Holidays and Seasonal Celebrations.

Oh gah. I shall buy sparklers tomorrow and say in a bright voice 'this is fun isn't it?' and hope they think it is.

Wish me luck. I don't feel good about this AT ALL.
