For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

It's not all that long since I was 28 either but it seems like a lifetime ago, I have aquired a husband and a daughter since I was that age. However I refuse to believe that I am grown up enough to have either, or the mortgage that I have had since I was 26.

I look at myself in the mirror and my Mum looks back at me. I am actually 18, 6 stone lighter and not so wrinkly.

Please can I have a crisis too? I feel an urge to spend lots of money on something completely inappropriate. Like a jet ski or flying lessons or something.

FrannyandZooey · 02/11/2007 10:28

I am not 28. I am about 26. And possibly 13 quite a bit of the time.

TrinityRhino · 02/11/2007 12:23

Another witty and even seasonal thread title

Loving them

fullmoonfiend · 02/11/2007 12:25

I'm still not able to do any revision. I have even cleaned my kitchen floor ! Yes please Tatties, pour me a cup of something soothing.

I feel about 12, when I used to spend hours making a swanky and colourful revision timetable, rather than revise....

TooTicky · 02/11/2007 13:56

I'm 16. I think.

MrsCarrot · 02/11/2007 13:57

Phew - I managed to persuade DD that I felt too ill to make the Party Pinata cake for her birthday tomorrow so we browsed the cake book together. It got a bit close for comfort by the Lamington Choo Choo and Psycho Delilah but luckily we stopped and agreed on a Chocolate hedgehog. Sooo much easier.

Unfortunately, while I was distracted trying to make the sponge/my lunch/baby's lunch/load dishwasher/sweep floor etc, I gave him the packet of smarties to shake that I bought for the hedgehog's eyes. He was quiet for ages.

TooTicky · 02/11/2007 14:10

Are you feeling any better?

MrsCarrot · 02/11/2007 14:28

a little, thanks, not as fluey but it's still very painful, lots of stinging shooting pains and I'm worried that the flueyness will come back if the redness doesn't go down iyswim. I have had all sorts of ridiculous convos with the homeopath today. Now I am trying pulsatilla.

TooTicky · 02/11/2007 14:38

I WISH I was a homeopath! I may do it you know. But not soon enough. She should be working out exactly which remedy you need, not trying different things. Oh, the frustration! Am sending lots of love and healing thoughts.

Tatties · 02/11/2007 14:44

LOL at the smarties MrsC. If it makes you feel any better ds had ice cream for lunch today

I am also sending healing thoughts

fullmoonfiend · 02/11/2007 17:11

MrsC, this really does sound dreadful for you. Well done for making life a little easier on yourself w/r the cake.
Really, really hope you fins a cure soon x

FrayedKnot · 02/11/2007 17:13

Afternoon lovely 10/10ers

MrsC sorry to hear you are suffering so. Hope the pulsatilla helps.

That sounds like some kind of secret code. I wonder what it stands for?

Veg box came today and although the quality is still superb, I have a large paper bag full of sprouts I had forgotten there was a vegetable I didn;t much like.

The guy who runs the shop sends a recipe every week and this week it's for creamed sprouts, with bacon lardons & double cream, so I'm going to to try it as I think maybe the bitterness of the sprouts will be countered by the cream.

I fully expoect to put on half a stone in the eating thereof, too.

I have made sheperds pie, lentil & veg soup and stewed some apple, while DH did painting with DS Everyone happy in the FK house

I may post a photo later.

fullmoonfiend · 02/11/2007 17:18

ooh FK, I hate sprouts too. Until I discovered how great they taste raw in coleslaw...no, really!!

Overrun · 02/11/2007 17:19

Hello all. Franny that there is a vegetable that you don't like. I have done sprouts like you describe and they were yummy, but still windy I am afraid.
Anyway, I am doing pretty well today. 2 apples, some raisens, some museli, some green salad. I am making a beetroot dish which incorporates the leaves so should be interesting. Also for dinner we are having swede, which is one of the few veg that I don't like, but dh loves. Also some raddicio salad.
But I am going out tonight so will probably offset this veggie goodness with a couple of glasses of wine

ahundredtimes · 02/11/2007 17:25

DS2 just went nuts at the school gate. He was very pale. He screamed and shouted and everyone STARED. Why? Ostensibly because ds1 is doing chess club and ds2 had forgotten.

Very taxing indeed. He kept kicking my seat in the car and screaming.

Eventually I played Les Miserables very loud and he stopped, and calmed himself down.

Have eaten 3490 satsumas, green beans and 4 toms.

FrayedKnot · 02/11/2007 17:27

Ah no it's me who doesn;t like sprouts, overrun.

I'm sure Franny eats raw sprouts by the bucketful Actually FMF I think that sounds like it might work. I love coleslaw and raw cabbage in salads etc so if they taste raw cabbagey then it would be fine

Wine is made from grapes overrun

What you probably can;t count is vodka...

Overrun · 02/11/2007 17:35

So it is Frayed Knot, I should have realised that Franny likes every single vegetable and fruit in the whole wide world.
And don't let me start thinking each glass of wine is going towards my total, otherwise I might drink more than a whole bottle
Vodka is from grains, which I know have been the source of much heated debate on this thread about whether they can be counted or not, and I think you are rigth not to, that was the consensus any way

IdrisTheDragon · 02/11/2007 18:01

I love sprouts >

FrannyandZooey · 02/11/2007 18:09

I do like sprouts, but my god they are peppery and make you trump a lot if you eat them raw

I don't like EVERY fruit and vegetable - I can't stand olives, and I am not keen on blackcurrants at all. Especially revolting blackcurrant 'flavour' things. I also don't like fennel.

I am going out for tapas and to a comedy night. When I booked to do this i didn't know I would instead be feeling like sitting on the sofa reading a trashy magazine instead. But I think I will enjoy it.
