For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

OH GOOD MrsC. SS Great Britain is absolutely tip top outing. DD was traumatised though, and declared herself a vegetarian you will all be delighted to hear.

FrayedKnot · 06/10/2007 19:43

DS likes Burger King chips

We stopped once when on motorway (has anyone noticed now more often services now consist of a McD or BK?)

When my parents told me about FC apparently I refused to go to bed I was so scared, so they hung my stocking bytb eh fireplace, and that has always been family tradition.

I think I wanted to believe for several years. I don;t remember ever actually believing as such. Just thinking that if I didn;t, I wouldn;t get any presents

And I had younger sisters so felt obliged to believe for them, iyswim.

Not sure about DS really, he was a bit young last year, will see what he makes of it this year.

MrsCarrot · 06/10/2007 19:45

That's what I thought too, that it wasn't the dolls but beverly hills style teenagers.

I think ds1 will love the SS, and I don't think dd could be swayed to vegetarianism by anything so we will be fine!

FrayedKnot · 06/10/2007 19:49

Sorry 100, I get park stories from my friend at work who's DS is 13, he got punched by some teenagers who didn;t like his trainers

I would tell him to steer clear if there is any whiff of anything that might be trouble, but of course he's got to learn how to work that out for himslef

God I dread the day

MrsCarrot · 06/10/2007 19:59

That's the sort of thing that worries me too, frayednot, a friends boy on the next road was really beaten up last year, he was about eleven I think. He tried to talk his way out of them taking his bike or something. There are usually people we know in there which is something. Also it was around 5.30 which is the tail end of when I'd let him go out.

3andnogore · 06/10/2007 20:10

I am really sorry , but \i have not read any posts since I posted last....but will do as soon as I get time, or at least will try!

Just wanted to say that I went to the Open day at teh University and it was an exciting day....went of Social work course though, mainly to do with teh person representing it, however, will apply for the OT course, the lady was amazing and even more amazing was, when I asked about the general and m personal chances to be taken on in that course (due to not that many uni's offering it, wondering about prescription rate to ratio....) she basically told me, that with my previous experiences and Qualification she would take me on teh course under the condition that I do a study skills course (which will show I am still able to work at degree entry level as well as giving me skills in esays writing, etc...), she told me she can't see how they wouldn't invite me for an Interview and how I wouldn't do well in that....so, very positive really!
It was funny, because when I signed into teh Helath departement, I put down OT/Social work and the girl there said, oh I just knew you were putting your name down for that, you just look like that sort of person lol...wondering now what those people are meant to look like, other then like me, of ocurse, rofl)
Anyway, am very excited...althoguh the one that represented the early childhood studies honours degree really sold that one to me, as well...she was a fabulous speaker, so passionate and lovely too....but OT it will be for me

TooTicky · 06/10/2007 20:12

Great news 3

ahundredtimes · 06/10/2007 20:21

Oh 3 that is great news. I left you a message further down saying I think OT's are great and that ds2 likes his OT and that his OT told ds2 that he just 'plays all day.'

TooTicky · 06/10/2007 20:21

Could I trouble you for some opinions please? I am going to spend my birthday money on a pair of these but don't know which colours would be best. Colours here
I tend to wear black/khaki/brown sort of colours.
Thanks

ahundredtimes · 06/10/2007 20:22

I liked the Peat/ Berry ones they showed. Do you like or is berry not your thing?

Tatties · 06/10/2007 20:28

BBB you poor thing! How awful and frightening for you. I hope you are recovering ok. And damn I have missed your photos!

Gosh I feel quite anxious reading about all your accidents and things too... I've been really busy the last couple of days.

FMV are you ok? Email or phone if you want a natter.

3 that all sounds exciting!

Erm what else... I am a big sister and I believed in Santa until I was about 10... my parents never told me, I just worked it out. I never felt they had lied to me, we always had magical Chritsmases and I don't think it would have been the same without believing. Also I remember friends telling me it wasn't true but I didn't believe them. So I don't think it's a big deal if some children know the truth

MrsCarrot · 06/10/2007 20:29

hello, Tatties.

Toot - I agree, the pictured pair were very nice

Tatties · 06/10/2007 20:34

Hello MrsC

I also like the shoes pictured TooT, but I also love the sound of Damson and Holly (not necessarily together though)

Tatties · 06/10/2007 20:46

Ooh I've missed a Mooncup thread too!

FrannyandZombie · 06/10/2007 20:50

I think berry - but I can't see faepink or violet on the colours picture? they are probably going to be a bit too bonkers but they sound nice.

3and, great news! It is so exciting when you embark on something new that you feel enthused about.

FMF hope things improve. Can we help / sympathise?

MrsC I can definitely see you as a fab big sister

What birth order are the rest of us? I am youngest of 3, with a big gap, so am dreadful mixture of the youngest / the only child. Shockingly self-obsessed and all that.

FrannyandZombie · 06/10/2007 20:51

Can we have some titles please?

FrayedKnot · 06/10/2007 20:57

Eldest.

Terminally bossy.

MrsCarrot · 06/10/2007 21:00

But how did you guess that, that I am the eldest, do I come across as bossy, or superior???

Just because I am superior to my siblings, that doesn't mean I think others are beneath me of course, ok?

Boco · 06/10/2007 21:02

I'm the eldest of lots. Not really sure who to count though. One real brother, and adopted sister, two steps i lived with, two steps i didn't. Very varied and mixed step families - from terribly posh hunting shooting to east end geezers. I have identity ishoos.

OP posts:
FrannytheDruid · 06/10/2007 21:03

No, not bossy, or superior, at all MrsC
just capable and kind of leanable on

MrsCarrot · 06/10/2007 21:04

is it the aprons?

FrannytheDruid · 06/10/2007 21:04

Boco have you kept that quiet or has it just not come up? it sounds quite a story.

MrsCarrot · 06/10/2007 21:04
MrsCarrot · 06/10/2007 21:06

yes, Boco, was your adopted sister your sister who was adopted, or did you adopt your sister

Boco · 06/10/2007 21:07

I guess it just hasn't come up. I tried to explain it all to Bee once. It's quite complicated and strange.
