For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

That is awful, Lullaby. Poor friend.

TooTicky · 05/10/2007 16:21

Can you use beetroot LL? Beetroot cakes with beetroot icing?
for your friend. Don't be hard on yourself though!

TooTicky · 05/10/2007 19:30

Where is everybody? Are you all on another thread talking about hot water and baking?

FrayedKnot · 05/10/2007 19:40

I'm here

I've had my ahir cut which was a great relief because it's difficult hair

I have been exceptonally bad at f&v today. I forgot to take my soup to work, but I did eat a fruit salad

DH cooked supper, so it had to be easy - salmon, peas, broclli and mash - his signature dish

I bet all your DPs cook marvellous things, don;t they?

DH is a philistine who buys crisps and chocolate digestives

TooTicky · 05/10/2007 20:08

Hello FK

Haircuts are a great relief, aren't they? I hate going though.

My dp buys crap for himself - crisps and sausages in jars and the cheap version of pot noodles, etc.
He can actually cook, but doesn't.

TooTicky · 05/10/2007 20:24

I am starting to get tetchy because my hair needs washing again.

But we have apples

FrannyandZombie · 05/10/2007 20:48

Dp eats pies, and cooks things like sausage egg and beans, and goes to the chip shop for chips and white bread rolls

Have eaten lots of cabbage, broccoli, and sweetcorn. Our veg box was beserk today. It is just full of this huge enormous long leaves which are apparently called black cabbage , and a big squash which ds insists is a pumpkin and wants to carve. The farm send a newsletter every week about what they are doing and this week it says "our barn is full of squashes and resembles an Antony Gormley sculpture." You know I am not sure they are real farmers.

IdrisTheDragon · 05/10/2007 20:50

DH is a wonderful cook (I needed to marry someone who was as I am not good).

He has made a lovely smelling stew and is tidying the kitchen while I am being allowed to sit in a comfy chair and Mumsnet .

BBBee · 05/10/2007 20:57

hello everyone

god I had a crash. It was horrible and i have whiplash and I feel all weird. I had to go to hospital in an ambulance strapped to a board with a neck brace thing.

It was very scary.

FrannyandZombie · 05/10/2007 20:59

Bee

oh god

oh Bee oh god oh god

what happened?

Boco · 05/10/2007 21:01

Oh no Bee!

Are you ok?

What happened?

How scary.

Are you ok Bee?

BBBee · 05/10/2007 21:04

I am okay but it was so horrible.

I was driving to my course 6am and this car was overtaking a lorry and was on my side of the road so I had a split second decision of head on collision or driving down an embankment so I plunged down this embankment. air bags went and it spun round and everything.

A beautifully wonderfully wonderful lorry driver stopped and helped me out - the other car drove off.

my car - il est mort.

I was scared. But boco I have been driving for 15yrs and this has happened once.

I am alive - we are all alive - thank fuck!

FrannyandZombie · 05/10/2007 21:08

Oh god, thank god you are ok

how absolutely horrible

BBBee · 05/10/2007 21:08

..and as I went down the slope all I could think is that I don;t want to die and when I was strapped to the board all I could think is that I want my spine to be okay.

One day on and I am back to moaning about automated insurance phone lines and washing up.

Have you seen that interview with dennis potter before he died? He talked about cherry blossom. I know that thing now.

MrsCarrot · 05/10/2007 21:08

I feel sick reading this, BBBee, truly sick. You poor thing, how dreadful. Thank god you are ok.

FrannyandZombie · 05/10/2007 21:08

But you were here, you were here last night and you didn't tell us?

BBBee · 05/10/2007 21:09

the odd thing is that it was a second - a second of choice and error and timing. That keeps bugging me.

I shouldn't have a drink should I?

FrannyandZombie · 05/10/2007 21:09

and IS your spine alright? Is everything ok?

FrannyandZombie · 05/10/2007 21:09

No don't have a drink, you are probably still partly in shock

let your body recover

BBBee · 05/10/2007 21:10

I know - I was hre last night but it was all still weird - I even went to my course yeaterday afternnon and joked and took notes and stuff - it hadn;t sunk in I guess so I didn't tell anyone.

FrayedKnot · 05/10/2007 21:11

Oh BBBeee, how awful

Thank god you are OK

Stupidfckingtwtwit that drove off

BBBee · 05/10/2007 21:11

yes - spine is fine - but they did all the ambulance flashing lights thing as a precaution - reasssuring I guess but most very scary!

IdrisTheDragon · 05/10/2007 21:11

BBBee - that is horrible. I am glad you are all right.

MrsCarrot · 05/10/2007 21:11

Yes, have a drink. Blimey, I need a drink now. Is your neck painful?

MrsCarrot · 05/10/2007 21:12
