For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

It's funny how so many independent secordaries are traditional, not to say, nostalgic, rather than progressive.

BBBee · 21/09/2007 12:55

I had a long journey on a coach to school - 50mins but I used to daydream and look out the window or sometimes chat and flirt and stuff. But I guess there was less choice and I just accepted t as what you did. I quite liked it.

I am glad you don;t have a kidney infetion boco.

lionheart · 21/09/2007 12:56

IdrisTheDragon · 21/09/2007 13:14

We have got DS from pre-school .

He really is wonderful and has been sorting me out .

lionheart · 21/09/2007 13:14

You better had.

TooTicky · 21/09/2007 13:20

Ah, I was wrong. Kilts yes, but no ties. There are ties at the good, smallish school she is hoping to get into. Ties seem to be a priority. The long day does worry me with the grammar school. And then homework on top of that!
So, if we tentatively ignore kilt school, tie school... expensive bus or I could drive her but would mean giving up walking to and from village school due to timings. This would be quite a drawback. But this school only has 700ish pupils. Other alternatives have 1100-1700, but she could travel independently. Think this would be nice for her but big school = scary.
I just don't know.

Tatties · 21/09/2007 13:22

Boco we can be tired and premenstrual together >8-o (that is my pmt emoticon)

TooT, your school dilemma - well it sounds like just the kind of school I would have wanted to go to, but due to our family circumstances, nothing but the local comp was practical for us. I do think it would be a terribly long day, just think about when dd is a bit older and getting LOADS of homework, possibly staying up to all hours studying. I found it extremely hard to get up in the mornings as a teenager (not because I was lazy, but because I was often up late studying) and I don't think I could have coped if school had been more than the 10 minute walk away that it was... I think it is wonderful to find a really lovely school but perhaps the novelty would wear off once the going got tough?

BBBee · 21/09/2007 14:53

oh pe-pe-pay!

IdrisTheDragon · 21/09/2007 16:46

That was a lot of smiles .

DD now has a very fetching pair of fairy wings.

FrannyandZooey · 21/09/2007 18:14

Idris am gobsmacked you and 8 of your friends have houses big enough to fit in 17 children and their parents Glad the party went well.

BBB I am still wondering when I posted pictures of my kitchen? I'm sure I haven't.

Have eaten bulgar wheat with kidney beans, peppers, mushrooms etc, and a salad of lettuce, cuc and tomatoes from our garden WOO WOO

had some plums earlier - those really dark purple ones - are they called damsons?

TooT it does sound great but how can she possibly get to a town 5 miles away from you before 7 am in the morning? It just isn't feasible, is it, unless someone near you has a child there and will drive her, or something. I want her to be able to go, too, but not with the travel situation you describe - I think it would be a nightmare, personally.

Tatties · 21/09/2007 18:20

Ooh I have some lovely plums atm. And greengages and blackberries. I love really juicy fruit, I find it very moreish.

I took some pictures of ds painting today, I may post some later if I get organised. I feel like boasting about him

lionheart · 21/09/2007 18:22

You posted a picture of your DS, I think with his prize winning growing plant thing, I think and everyone went on about the clean table ...

FrannyandZooey · 21/09/2007 18:22

ooh yes please Tatties I am gagging for a pic of ds, it's been ages

FrannyandZooey · 21/09/2007 18:23

oh yes I DO remember the clean table and I can't remember what the picture was

that's my dining room table, it is currently covered with fruit

BBBee · 21/09/2007 18:23

We have had friday tea of fish fingeres and oven chips and beans. That;s a bit crap isn;t it. I am not feeling too great - have a gurgly tummy and feel all cross.

FrannyandZooey · 21/09/2007 18:26

stone me I wish mine looked like that

lionheart · 21/09/2007 18:27

Yes, lettuce, that's the one.

BBBee · 21/09/2007 18:33

yes am fuckwit I'm afraid.

IdrisTheDragon · 21/09/2007 18:33

Just wanted to put the record straight on size of house . It is (a) luckily unusual to have all those people on a Fridya afternoon (b) other people have bigger gardens which helps.

There were five adults, one 4 year old, five 3 year olds, two 2 year olds, one 1 year old and one baby today, which our house can cope with. Most people seem to have bigger houses than ours I think.

BBBee · 21/09/2007 18:35

idris - see it went well and you are fab well done.

Where is filth? I wore a green skirt and high boots in her honour today.

BBBee · 21/09/2007 18:35
