For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I love it too! Have spent the day harvesting walnuts- there's a huge tree near us and no-one else seems to want them. My hands are black and the living room floor is almost completely carpeted with them dring out!

SauerKraut · 18/09/2007 16:25

drying

Boco · 18/09/2007 16:29

here is a version of the colour test that is working

Boco · 18/09/2007 16:30

This is really freaky, while i was typing that last message my computer started playing dialogue from inspector morse - and then stopped when i clicked on 'post message'!

FrannyandZooey · 18/09/2007 16:48

Sorry Boco, the test I linked to there was a kind of trick test. Whatever answers you give it says the same thing about your personality, then asks you to rate how accurate the analysis was. Most people say it's pretty accurate. It's an example of the Forer effect. Many people say the Forer effect is also at work in the Myers Briggs personality test but I don't agree. There is a colour test that works in the same way which is what I thought you were talking about.

Sorry for going on; I was thinking about this a lot over the weekend as I went to a palm reader at the festival. I think most of what he said was fairly Forer-ish and so I came away feeling he was quite good. Dp and I are very interested in things like this, and cold reading etc. We like to do things like go to see mediums, and then dissect how they cast about until they get a 'right' answer. I must find a good book to read on this instead of just wittering on the internet about it, sorry.

Boco · 18/09/2007 16:57

I was only teasing before, not taking the mickey - very different - i think it's interesting and you should tell us about it - while you were away we were all living in a fantasy commune - its good. dp is really interested in the cold reading stuff - he read a book about it and something by derren brown. Derren brown is amazing at it - saw him do medium stuff once on tv where he told a girl he was getting a message from her auntie who used to be a florist - i just wish i understood how he did it, was amazing. Sorry - thought that one you'd linked to was like the ones you get in womens magazines where you answer questions and then it says 'mostly c's - you're a loner, mostly a's - you're a sociopath - stuff like that.

IdrisTheDragon · 18/09/2007 17:08

We have bought some raspberries. After learning they were not actually "tor-berries" DD is seeing how fast she can eat a punnet .

I will of course not let her do exactly this as probably it would result in some worrying digestive problems.

I love any kind of analysis. And quiz.

filthymindedvixen · 18/09/2007 17:31

I don't know if I took the right test as I couldn't get the 4 letters. Franny, I think your gusess of me seems pretty accurate but apparently I am an idealist.
(I am also a gemini so if I took the same test tomorrow - I might get a totally different answer...)

puppydavies · 18/09/2007 17:33

have been intermittently lurking on these threads attempting to work up motivation to sorting out veg intake following major lapse whilst pg and bf (major sugar cravings plus no time to plan/cook). but just wanted to pipe up and say we were at that festie too franny (and also succumbed (succambe? ) to the felt beads) although you'll be relieved to hear NOT at the laughter workshop

i have to say as i wandered round i wondered if there were many mners there - have never seen so much mini boden in one place at one time

managed an entire weekend without getting round to the chai, which i developed a taste for at festies last yr after years of irrational tea-phobia (have to say imo evap is essential), or indeed anywhere even vaguely healthy food-wise. but managed instead to develop a mushy pea habit, in fact am off to find a recipe now before i forget...

Carotte · 18/09/2007 17:46

Hello Puppydavies. I like mushy peas too but not round ones.

puppydavies · 18/09/2007 18:20

that was the thing though - these mushy peas, that came with the pieminister pies (which, alarmingly, are available online in boxes of 12, the only question being how many would i eat in the time it took to get them into the freezer ) were obviously made from fresh, not dried, peas. they were deeeeelishus.

FrannyandZooey · 18/09/2007 18:29

Ah FMF, if you are an idealist then you're an NF person, you're definitely an E, so I think you must be a Champion - ENFP. You're like me but you actually like people

Puppydavies did you have a good time? Did you love the fairy woods? Did you see me? (tallish woman in big floppy hat trying to do the diablo )

Boco I am sure I deserve teasing and mickey taking . I am really interested in Derren Brown, he is one of the ones dp and I are kind of impressed by. I don't have a tv so I hardly ever see him. I'd love to see him live. What were the books your dp read? I need a recommendation please. My dp would be a fricking scary cold reader I think. We were talking about it at the weekend. If we ever go bankrupt or something he could rescue us by becoming a hugely talented rip off artist. Shame he is too ethical to do it.

FrannyandZooey · 18/09/2007 18:31

Oh god those pies. Dp has a thing for pies and due to being enforced vegetarian 95% of the time (no meat in this house) he goes off the rails when meat is available, especially in pie form. Then he spends about 3 days feeling rough I had a quiet word in his ear this weekend about not over indulging but he could not resist the thrall of Pieminister. He suffered. Well, we all suffered.

FrannyandZooey · 18/09/2007 18:33

ANYWAY

puppydavies

come and eat fruit and vegetables

why aren't you doing it?

filthymindedvixen · 18/09/2007 18:53

Welcome to the asylum Puppydavies

Franny - ''This strong drive to unveil current events can make them tireless in conversing with others, like fountains that bubble and splash, spilling over their own words to get it all out. ''

And I thought I just talked too much, too fast

FrannyandZooey · 18/09/2007 19:24

LOL brilliant FMF

the description of my personality type did help me a lot actually, in terms of helping me view some of my traits in a more positive light. I also found the bit about

"Wishing to please their parents and siblings, but not knowing quite how to do it, they try to hide their differences, believing they are bad to be so fanciful, so unlike their more solid brothers and sisters. They wonder, some of them for the rest of their lives, whether they are OK. They are quite OK, just different from the rest of their family-swans reared in a family of ducks" made me cry when I first read it as I identified so strongly with it and had that feeling of relief when someone finally understands you

[sharing too much tonight]

puppydavies · 18/09/2007 19:24

i thought the festival was a gem and i loved the woods. but it turned out that those people who gently suggested i was a lunatic for even thinking of going with a 4yr old and a 3month old were mostly right. relaxing it wasn't (although it turned out to be the 4yr old who caused most of the trouble, baby liked nothing better than watching - or sleeping through - the bands ) sorry to hear about pie-itis he should have gone for the mush + asparagus. hmm, with mushy peas how many veges would that count as?

i was veg queen when i was doing weightlossresources last year - it counts up your portions (over-generously, admittedly) and i'd be constantly trying to outdo myself. i could manage 15 a day some days and average 10+ over the week. i need to ease myself back into it gently though and aim for 5.

damnit i think the effusive welcome on this thread might actually shame me into starting now...

FrannyandZooey · 18/09/2007 19:30

Yay at tempting you back into the fold

we are nice, honest, and only slightly eccentric

I think you were exceedingly brave to try the festy. Sorry it was hard work (my 4 yo was a bit of an arse as well, but dp and I took turns and by Sunday he had chilled out). Me and ds had mush and asparagus pie - bloody HELL that was some good pie, I must admit, although the thought of having another one in the next twelve months is nauseating [pastryphobic].

So. That was your baby that woke everyone up on the Sunday morning, right?

filthymindedvixen · 18/09/2007 19:31

You're in now, you're in!!!
(our s(pies) are everywhere...)

pinkspottywellies · 18/09/2007 19:35

Boco - just read your 'dribbly bottom' comment on the naked sofa thread and roflolololololol!!!!

TooTicky · 18/09/2007 19:36

Okay, how do I find out which 4 letter abbreviation I am? Or is it all a con? I am confused.

My stew and dumplings were quite divine and followed by steamed jammy pud, except I had to have mine cold after school meeting.

Welcome Puppydavies

TooTicky · 18/09/2007 19:37

Oh and Boco, BBB, Idris etc, I would play scrabble with you but I am a bit scared of facebook. Do I have to put my face on it?

FrannyandZooey · 18/09/2007 19:39

TooT I did a link earlier but I think it may just sort you into one of the 4 temperaments rather than one of the 16 types

Where is BBB [frenzy of curiosity about my enigmahood]

TooTicky · 18/09/2007 19:42

Huh?

FrannyandZooey · 18/09/2007 19:45

Look here are the 4 temperaments

If you click on each temperament it will take you to a link which describes the 4 types in each temperament

The temperament sorter is here although maybe it doesn't give you your exact type, just your temperament. Tatties where did you do your one? You got sorted into type, didn't you?
