For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Boco I think you were super brave

I would have quaked about that - you did just the right thing

For dinner we are having bulgar wheat cooked with mushrooms and peppers and tomatoes and soy sauce and stock and then baked in the oven

what veg have you got?

Well Done Boco. Hopefully she will actually thik about the fact that it's offensive rather than tutting about pc ness or something.

Franny - that sounds delicious. Bulghar wheat is actually wheat isn't it? Rather than buckwheat say, which isn't Does it turn out like polenta?

Two kiwis, pear and banana.

TooTicky · 04/09/2007 12:20

And there you are playing dangerous window games Franny

MrsCarrot · 04/09/2007 12:21

Yes, you do seem to have a habit of upsetting people with three letter names

Boco · 04/09/2007 12:22

I have aubergine, courgette, baby asparagus, butternut squash, red pepper, salad vegetables, tomatoes, broccoli, potatoes.

What does that make?

lionheart · 04/09/2007 12:24

Did I miss something again? [slides beetroot up the sleeve of long flowing garment]

MrsCarrot · 04/09/2007 12:25

a lot of vegetables, Boco

MrsCarrot · 04/09/2007 12:26

Lionhart - are you in Medievalist garb or self-sufficiency style cheesecloth?

bananaknickers · 04/09/2007 12:26

found this don't know if it will help anyone else ,it has cleared up some potion sizezs for me

lionheart · 04/09/2007 12:29

?Well loved he garleek, oynons, and eek lekes. And for to drinken strong wyn, reed as blood.?

lionheart · 04/09/2007 12:37

bananoknickers, that is useful but this talk of potions will get us into trouble.

FrannyandZooey · 04/09/2007 12:40

BananaK there's quite a detailed one in the link in the OP, but I still can't find portions for everything. It is hard, isn't it? especially vegetables. Fruit seems simpler.

Boco it makes me . I would roast the courgette, peppers, squash and aubergines (slice in fingers and drizzle a little olive oil - just a little or it goes soggy)

make a salad with potatoes, salad veg, toms

and steam the asparagus and eat it all by myself when no-one was looking

FrannyandZooey · 04/09/2007 12:41

LOL at bananoknickers

was that Freudian, lionheart?

OP posts:
lionheart · 04/09/2007 12:43

You could add the potatoes to the roasting dish if you were feeling Nigella.

lionheart · 04/09/2007 12:43

Metaphorically.

zippitippitoes · 04/09/2007 12:46

love bananonickers

3andnomore · 04/09/2007 12:47

HI All,
well, as for 10/10....only had Watermelon so far...but will have an apple and banana in a moment!
Did, however, manage to get up early enough to find my motiviation to do exercise, and did Vicky Entwistles DVD

lol 100...now there is an idea....root vegetable black market, that is so funny!

Mrs C...tis alright, I get ya See, how I try to accommodate you and put in more paragraphs....does that help?

Boco, that sounds like a seriously unfunny Joke, that is so bad....
And for Dinner we will have a prawn veggie stir fry! The vegetables you mentioned could all be roasted really..maybe with some lime and manuka honey drizzled over
Or make a ratatouille out of the toms, aubergine, courgette and pepper...

Womble, my 3 were all what they call happy chuckers...and teh amount off people that would say things like "oh, but you are breastfeeding, I thought Baby's didn't chuck up then" ....hmph....with es I would get changed all the time and change him all teh time, too...with the other 2, I would only do that if either of us were to badly covered, lol....! It can really get you down from that point of view alone...but when they are unsettled and unhappy then it's so much worse....my ys was an E-CS and he was screaming for 4 month straight...well...more or less...dispite being carried around, etc....I found that so draining and upsetting. I was gonna try a Cranial Osteopath, but at the time we lived in NI and dh was in teh army and all teh ones I could find were in areas where there would have been safety issues for us, etc...and by the time we came over to england again, he started to settle down a bit!

Franny, speedymama joint us, too....I told her about this thread on the exercise buddie thread.
And what is all that about plasticine and hairs???? The mind is boggling!

Zippi, 2 glasses of wine and your head was spinning...I think I defiantely consume to much alcohol, lol, as it definately needs a lot more then 2 glasses to get me anywhere near tipsy

pink, my ys is back at nursery tomorrow, and my es will have his first day at secondary school, ms is starting in reception year on monday....can't wait!

lionheart...contraband?????????

Toot, happy Birthday to your dd...btw, stupid question, but how do you go about Home educating, and is this a permanent solution or is she reception age, but you don't want her to start school yet? Just being nosy!

3andnomore · 04/09/2007 12:52

Bananaknickers...good link....

Franny, if you look a bit around, tehre is also every day vegetable portion sizes listed in that link!

FrannyandZooey · 04/09/2007 12:53

Hello speedymama! Welcome to the thread Thanks for pointing that out 3andnomore, I sometimes think we need a door monitor to officially welcome people and stuff. Some days I am no use at all.

I think you need more fat for potatoes than I like to put in with the peppers etc, but maybe I am wrong?

Have had baked beans (classic, and pinto) and plums, and a very hard but tasty pear

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 04/09/2007 12:54

FrannyandZooey · 04/09/2007 12:55

Oh thanks 3and I see now there is veg as well

BananaK's list is good isn't it, do we think it's clearer than the one in the OP? Which one shall I used for the next thread?
