For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

100x, steam and mash your celeriac - with potato or on its own. Fantastic comfort food.

Wombling, if you're going to choose a homoeopath - well, some are so much better than others. Some (lots) don't practise it properly, you see. I could try and get a recommendation in your area...if you wanted me to...sorry, this is one of my areas of evangelism.

ahundredtimes · 03/09/2007 22:23

But Wombling's ds is five months old. She's going through hell. I think DS1 cried for about 8 months, I think, I don't know. It's all a blur.

I wish I'd done cranial whatsit. Someone is on another thread about a hairdrier recommending it. If they have quite difficult or sudden births, it's meant to help. This lady with hairdrier, her ds had a nerve trapped in his jaw which made him windy, and the cranial ostepath cured it.

ahundredtimes · 03/09/2007 22:25

TT that was a x-post. It wasn't in response to your last post. I was just thinking about Wombling, and five months of crying and I felt quite overwhelmed.

BBBee · 03/09/2007 22:25

why aren't you telling us how you got the celeriac? Is it something dodgy?

3andnomore · 03/09/2007 22:27

sorry wombling, by the way....I really know how you feel, my ys did nothing but scream at me for the first 4 month and even still now he can be a bit odd...I mean, on one side he is my most placid toddler of my 3 (well, comparing them at that age now), and on the other hand he can go into one for the weirdest and unusual things, he is just completely different then my other 2, and I found it hard too adjust and he made me question myself all the time, and made me feel bad about myself as a motehr, and more...I do love him so much, but he was sent to try me, I am sure of it....and to put me off having anymore....lol!
Osteo cranial therapy is meant to be really good though!
And if it is any kind of reflux, medicine aswell as keeping your lil one upright is important!

ahundredtimes · 03/09/2007 22:32

Yes BBee. I am dealing in a root vegetable black market. I don't know how I got into it, and now I'm in too deep. Here want a couple of these love?

i won't do flirting, as I know you don't like your f&v traders flirty.

TooTicky · 03/09/2007 22:35

Got any swede?

MrsCarrot · 03/09/2007 22:37

3andnomore - I think I get squinty reading your posts because you usually do one big one and often one paragraph and it makes my eyes squinty. It also reads quite fast. That's not a criticism it's just why I squint when I read it,blinking quickly. That's nit any clearer is it?

Wombling - Have you not been to a CO yet then? They are wonderful. Both ds1 and dd had their heads checked after birth and Lo has had some problems and goes quite a lot. I had trouble feeding him on one side, lots of compression there he said and it really improved. Also cleared up the repeated sticky eye that side. I am taking him back next week about his ears, as it's good for draining the eustatian tube. I would make an appointment straightaway if I were you.

BBBee · 03/09/2007 22:38

if it was last week we could have nicely placed a camberwell carrot in here.

ah well.

Am off to listen to that play that might be based on mumsnet now.

BBBee · 03/09/2007 22:39

the CO I went to in London was a specialist but I saw him in the training school with a couple of students - was fun and cheap.

Is near borough market.

Boco · 03/09/2007 23:13

Thanks for advice on the jokes. I'm going to tell her. I can't not. And she actually needs to know not to forward stuff like that as it's vile. right. Good.

TooTicky · 03/09/2007 23:18

Good luck Boco.

Boco · 03/09/2007 23:25

Thanks Toot - did it, sent her a quick email asking to be taken off her emailing list and just pointing out that the last one was about wanting to drown black people.

womblingalong · 04/09/2007 00:07

Too Ticky, I would love a homeopath recommendation, I am in the East Midlands. I did see a very good one for my exczema and psoriasis, but would really like topick your brains if that's ok, shall I CAT you?

MrsC, Haven't seen a CO yet, both of my DC's were emergency sections, and both had/have reflux (snap foxy & welcome to the playful world of 10/10 ers). I am sure that CO might settle things down a bit, and iprove the feeding issues ,.

Hundred, thanks for understanding, I am sat here in tears.

womblingalong · 04/09/2007 00:14

Boco

You were brave, ggod for you. I hate that sort of insidious prejudice.

BBBee · 04/09/2007 03:45

just re-read the thread and I am being paranoid but wanted to point out that my advice to Boco was to tell her too not to do nothing. There can stop worrying now.

Womble - how are you doing? I hope you are feeling better. I had problems with DS1 when he was a baby but it is impossible to recall the true misery and stress that it brings - and lack of sleep makes everything loads harder to cope with.

Best Wishes

FrannyandZooey · 04/09/2007 08:17

Good morning everyone

Wombling I feel for you - that is such a hard time and the reflux / colic sounds dreadful. All I can say is that although you get little acknowledgement for it, you are doing one of the hardest and most important jobs in the world - and I think it helps to try to mentally clear the decks and make way for that to be your focus. Call in all favours if you haven't already - get people to come and play with dd for a bit, or take the baby for a walk in the pram, and make sure all things like shopping / cleaning etc are either getting left or being done by someone else, if at all possible.

Did some new people sneak in when I was looking the other way? 100 did you leave the door open again? Welcome whoever you are (I am sure I saw foxy and doodle around, was there anyone else?)

Strawberries, grapes, melon, raisins. Am determined to have better day than yesterday which ended in tears and fights about the new plasticine being too new and not having any hairs in it

Good Morning too

I am feeling a bit washed out today as was up very late couldn't relax..

ds came home last night

he looks really well it was so nice to have him back

no idea where he is this morning though as neither he nor his friend are here

i guess he must be at dd2s

and i took him and his friend and dd1 and her bf out for a pub meal and i had 2 glasses of wine...couldn't believe how my head was spinning for a few hours when i came back in..so i think it will be a long while before I have another one..quite pleased i tried it though

I think the effect was compounded by having had another starbucks coffee with dd at lunchtime she must stop asking me to meet her there!

so I really have got to get stuff done now

and get some F&V in

pinkspottywellies · 04/09/2007 08:55

Morning all! I'm having a new 10/10 start today after an appauling week! I've had an apricot and a nectarine for breakfast and I'm going to get some orange juice and raisins.

Are all your dc's back at school yet after the horrors of the back to school shopping?! A friend's ds doesn't go back til next Monday

I'm going to 'work' tomorrow to see the manager about my maternity leave and things. If I'm not going back I have to hand my notice in at the end of the month and the thought scares me even though I don't want to go back!

LL - Hope you're doing ok and that your trip to Devon is giving you something to look forward to with a smile. Sending you hugs and healing thoughts x

zippitippitoes · 04/09/2007 08:56

Yes LL have a relaxing break

xx

lionheart · 04/09/2007 09:29

Hello
Wombling I have heard other people sing the praises of the CO. No idea how it works but it can.

What's all this about contraband?

No problem Wombling - or I'll see what I can do anyway. Do you want to email me? [email protected]

First day of home ed for dd1. Also her birthday. Biggest problem so far is convincing her she can't just spend the day grazing.

Boco · 04/09/2007 12:09

Hey BBBee you gave great advice and i followed it - why paranoid?, i did say that - thank you.. Got an email back from her saying sorry and that she's aware some people have a different sense of humour and will take me off her list. Hmm.

Am eating banana and blueberries.

Have bought lots of lovely vegetables from greengrocer today but feel totally unable to work out what to do with them.

Tell me what you're having for dinner - please!

FrannyandZooey · 04/09/2007 12:13

TooT good luck with the home ed. Officially I suppose this could be counted as our first day as well, as ds's peers are mostly going this week. He doesn't legally have to have any education until next September though, so I am not doing anything about it.

Avi great stuff - I think what you said could make a real difference. Do you not think in that situation, that the child had held on too long and was unable to control himself? I have seen (older) children with wetting problems and it seems to me the problem is not going to the toilet when they need to, rather than choosing to wee, and I think this may have happened here as well.

Lionheart want some beetroot? Under the counter, like.

PSW good luck deciding about work. It sounds a hard choice.

Zippi take it easy with the drink [worry] [fret]

Icarus I saw you on here as the thread whizzed by. Just wanted to say thanks for the support the other night - much appreciated
