For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

The heron sounds great!

How many people will there be at the meet up, Franny. I'm getting nervous. Will we have to learn everyone's real name and put nicknames to faces? I've never met strangers off the t'internet before! Even though it doesn't feel like we're strangers!

FrannyandZooey · 06/09/2007 22:20

I have lost track PSW, not loads I don't think. I will get on the case again in a week or two.

I don't think people usually use real names much, no. It's too hard to make the transition - the person just is their MN name, usually.

Don't be nervous, it will be fine. You can run away if you don't like it, London is a big place

We have loads of frogs in our garden. There was a pond once and they keep coming back. They are funny.

PSW - I will put some on but I am too tired tonight to minimise/upload etc. Remind me?

I was asked if I was counting the days when F was a few weeks old. Most depressing.

pinkspottywellies · 06/09/2007 22:27

DH found a frog in our pond the other day but I think it's gone now.

Will I be 'Pink' then. Pinkspottywellies will be a bit of a mouthful! and what about dps and dcs?

TooTicky · 06/09/2007 22:27

PSW, I missed your photo

I can't bear to go back to work before dd2 goes to school. I'm hoping to manage something from home but my god there is just no time and my mental space feels as if it will be rather cramped for the next year.

BBBee, may I ask what work you do from home?

Franny, they were dd2's trousers. They were already blackberry stained and then picked up some tomato sauce from the spatula which I used to intercept them. I couldn't actually see what it was that he was throwing until it arrived and was scared it would be heavy.

100x, I am not an Anne and my glowers and stern words don't work. He doesn't often kick me these days but he does stamp on my toes. I do worry about what will happen when he is bigger and stronger.

DollyPopsOut · 06/09/2007 22:29

Sorry to everyone who has had a pants day at work and good luck to those going back. I went back 3 days a week when DD1 was 7 months. Hated it and tried to get pg at once. finally managed when she was 15 months. Now on ML but working one sat in 4. Dh has both kids (well, I've only done it once)and I get to wear a suit, grown up shoes and talk to adults without punctuating it with sipping pretend tea. Back 2 days a week in Dec. I think the only way to do it is if the childcare is right and that is easier said than done, sadly. DD1's new nursefy is great though and she seems happy there now.

Fatness - 2 babies in 2 years has taken its toll. When I worked this weekend, I had to wear large black pants under my suit trousers in case they split in class. THought that woudl be preferable to a shot of lardy white bum. Happily they didn't but they did leave red welts on my tummy as too tight. More f and V for me. Have had rasps, plums, an apple, lots of tomatoes today. Oh, and sausages .

Avi - have you tried preseed? Supposed to make your "environment" more receptive IYKWIM. I am but the only month we used it was when we conceived DD2.

pinkspottywellies · 06/09/2007 22:29

TooT I've just put it back up for you. You missed it last time I put one up!

Boco · 06/09/2007 22:29

Herons are my favourite birds, i always feel really lucky if i see a heron. I used to live on the Norfolk broads and they stole all the fish from our pond, and that wasn't lucky. For the fish.

TooTicky · 06/09/2007 22:29

We see herons by the canal here. They remind me of pterodactyls when they fly.

pinkspottywellies · 06/09/2007 22:31

Stop it! We aren't allowed to talk about birds on here! (Is it 100x who doesn't like them?)

Anyway I have to go to bed. Failed on my 10pm bedtime again. I'm attempting 10/10/10!

TooTicky · 06/09/2007 22:31

Thanks PSW What does it say on your T shirt? I have to know or I will wake in the night and wonder.

pinkspottywellies · 06/09/2007 22:32

I did think it would be quite handy to be pg again already. Then I would've gone back!

Boco · 06/09/2007 22:33

It's ok, 100x is eating rare steak, we can squeeze in a tiny bit of bird chat.

pinkspottywellies · 06/09/2007 22:33

Hersheys

pinkspottywellies · 06/09/2007 22:33

Night all!

FrannyandZooey · 06/09/2007 22:36

I think it said

Don't tell 100 she is sitting next to a big heron

I go off to eat blue meat and when I come back it's all birds. I bet you all have little blue birds flying around your mooncups don't you? Like Snow White in that forest, she SO had a mooncup.

TT - what does work then?

I liked that lady with her Angry Box actually. I looked for one today, but could only find cardboard. I have a hunch that ds's would rather trample that to pieces than tear up bits of paper, I have to find something more robust. Can we Angry Box together? DS2 doesn't like lots of textures and noises though, so squeezy things I've tried in the past haven't really worked.

I love PSW's meet-up questions. I think in answer to your question PSW, all your dp's and dc's should have nicknames too. It will be very confusing for them, and entertaining for everyone else. Boco's dd2 is Ron. That is already decided.

BBBee · 06/09/2007 23:06

I like birds but I hate herons - they are interesting close up but only because you can see how mean and selfish they are by the look in their eyes.

TT- the work I do form home is so bits and bobsy. The job before I had DS was really nice and luckily whilst I was there I met a lot of people in a similar area. When I wanted to work from home / very specific short hours I contacted everyone with my CV - I guess I just got lucky and this one bloke I did some work for was able to give me loads of stuff and then I kind of got known for it and so people came to me. Then last year when I had more time I touted for something a bit different where I could have more control and run most of it myslef. Now I am about to go back and study full time to get to the next place.

Um - that is not oh so clear but the main and most important ingredient was luck.

TooTicky · 06/09/2007 23:08

100x, do we have the same children? My ds2 also dislikes noises and textures. If there is loud music he screams, "You are killing my head!" and he cannot stand any rough bits in touchy feely books.

I don't know what works. There is a nice person called Shortshafe on my other thread who has worked with angry children.

TooTicky · 06/09/2007 23:09

No no, my dd2 actually gets called Ron on occasion.

BBBee · 06/09/2007 23:10

what jobs can you do from home?

a friend of mine who is bright but could not do her previous career from home contacted Oxford University Press and they gave her a trial and now she works as a proof reader.

another friend has set herself up as a project manager for people having their houses done up - but don;t think she makes much money

someone else edits a journal

my sister is a novellist

another friend trained as a massuer and works from home

same as above but alexander techinque

um um um... boco is an artist.
