For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

I just looked at my photo again to see if I could figure out what you meant by Jolly lionheart! I now think I look old in it

FrayedKnot · 06/09/2007 20:33

I dished out loads of ridiculous threats today, and threats don;t even WORK on DS so god knows why.

Even when I tried to do nice things with him inbetween chores and stuff (e.g. sat down & built new train layout afetr I had cleared it up to hoover, as I promised I would), he just ran round and round it breaking it up and falling over it on purpose.

I let him help me cook supper, which he loved, but then he refused to eat most of it it and threw noodles on the floor.

Thank god we're going for sea air next week. Not having a garden doesn;t help. either, usually when he gets like that we go outside to do stuff, but gardener man is still in situ with his big pile of mud.

Boco · 06/09/2007 20:33

Would it be starting again? Surely all that experience will count for something? Hard to know as no idea what the job is - but maybe it won't make so much difference - maybe something even better will come up? I was supposed to go back to work when my dd was 4 months, and i intended to - until i had her, and then realised there was no way anyone else was doing the childcare. For me, i just think something will come up - i'll change direction maybe a couple of times but that's fine.

FrayedKnot · 06/09/2007 20:41

psw I agonized for ages about going back to work. I didn;t work for 2 years afetr DS, a combination of having taken a good redundancy package when I was on Mat leave, and then having to relocate to a new area.

I drove DH up the wall with my tooing and froing about it all. I really agonized over it for ages.

In the end I just thought nothing ventured, and tried it.

The first month of adjusting to leaving DS in childcare, getting to know a whole load of new people, etc, was hell, tbh. The things started to settle down. I love it now (usually).

Well actually I don;t love the job at all, it's trivial stuff I do, but I work with lovely people nd I have friends now when I had none here two years ago. That is motivation enough for me at the moment.

Having coasted a long for 18 months now I'm kind of wanting something more to get my teeth into. My project for the rest of the year is to carve myslef out a more stimulating niche.

Sorry that's a bit of a ramble but I know how easy it is to go from yes to no ninety times in an hour, with this one.

ahundredtimes · 06/09/2007 20:44

You need to get your childcare sorted out first. If you found something you were happy with - and you might - then it might make the decision easier?

MrsCarrot · 06/09/2007 20:50

Boco - of course I didn't groan when you added me. I expect you just heard a little tired sigh in the breeze. I like your rabbit photo. I might leave it at some point soon so I'm not sure what happens then, whether it announces it on the board, 'today MrsC has left facebook', or whether you just have one less friend?

I like both the ladies in pink hats. I love hats, though I mostly hate pink, pink in general though not just pink hats. Once my friend broke her bracelet and apparently I would only pick up the yellow beads not the pink ones. I don't really remember.

I have had chilli with tomato onion coriander salad, flatbreads and brown rice. An appple, nectarine, banana and acerola cherry/blackcurrant smoothie.

Lullaby - What can I say? Your daily diet sounds almost musical.

lionheart · 06/09/2007 20:54

Jolly is good, psw.

ahundredtimes · 06/09/2007 20:55

All this Facebook chat is annoying Franny.

I still haven't eaten. DH announced that he bought steaks (I think he is desperate for food - he has been used to having lunch for the last seven weeks) and we shall eat them. There will be blood, I will have to leave this thread now in order to eat.

I might add a tomato?

I have also been eating greengages BBee. I can't stop. BUT I bought £16 worth of fruit from grocers yesterday, and it has all gone. Has been eaten by dc's. Is good but annoying.

I shouted today and dd asked 'are you tired?'
Oh dear.

pinkspottywellies · 06/09/2007 20:57

Mrs C have you seen my photo on my mn profile - I'm going to take it off in a bit but mine is the pink hat to and all hats!

pinkspottywellies · 06/09/2007 20:58

end all hats.

MrsCarrot · 06/09/2007 21:02

I have PSW, which is why I said I like both the ladies in pink hats. You look very nice. I like your hair.

Do you think so, 100x? I have visions of Franny tapping her keyboard and rolling her eyes now.

pinkspottywellies · 06/09/2007 21:24

Sorry there have been lots of people in pink hats on this thread - several on facebook apparently! My hair is now much shorter and blonde but thanks.

I do still have 2 other p/t jobs. One is sessional work which I can do evenings and weekends and another, the sweet shop, in the school holidays when MIL is off and able to babysit. It's just my 'proper' job that don't want to let go of!

MrsCarrot · 06/09/2007 21:37

Now you've dashed the new image of you PSW, am trying to transpose short blonde hair on to your photo.

Avi - Are you worried about whether they'll let you do the hours you want?

pinkspottywellies · 06/09/2007 21:53

I'm a bit fatter as well MrsC! I lost weight just before I got pregnant (was about 5m pg in the photo) and I'm about a stone heavier now

pinkspottywellies · 06/09/2007 21:55

Avi, I think I've made my decision really. I don't want to work and miss out on stuff with dd but I just don't want to let go! I know I can always go back when she(/they) are bigger but it's scary [scared emoticon!]

MrsCarrot · 06/09/2007 22:00

God I feel fat too, PSW. I just can't seem to stop stuffing in the evenings. Gah. Just looking at some of wedding photos actually, wondering why I didn't wait a year. Some of them are lovely but in others I look a fright.

Can I see your wedding photos?

pinkspottywellies · 06/09/2007 22:06

Does anybody use the Mumnet Mates thing on My Mumsnet? You can just share your photos with friends by the sound of it. Is that right?

pinkspottywellies · 06/09/2007 22:09

Avi if you just had statutory mat pay then you don't have to pay it back but if your company offers anything over and above that then it depends on what thier policy is. SMP was 90% for 6 weeks then 20 wks at £108 or so.

FrannyandZooey · 06/09/2007 22:13

My eyes hurt from rolling them

I am not exactly fat but my clothes from last year don't fit which annoys me. Someone did ask if I was pregnant, too. I blame ds stopping breastfeeding, and me having lots of minor emotional wobbles. Wobbles = eating in my book, often.

I have had a less shouty day than the rest of the week. I am putting it down to being out of doors most of the day. We saw a frog, very close up. And a heron (that will learn you to go on about Facebook, 100)

sorry I am completely disconnected this evening aren't I? Everyone else is talking about hats and work. Sorry. The heron was fab.
