For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Have eaten red peppers, broccoli, tofu, carrots, onions, and mushrooms, in a sir fry. Dp does make a darn good stir fry.

Have checked diary. Bod's Auntie officially due to visit on Friday. We'll see. I think she's packing, now.

Bod's Auntie is funny.

BBBee Peter Shakelod is still around, and today Jospular the imaginary friend had a new job making pineapples. When i was trying to get her in the bath Jospular was apparently telling her to run away and make things take twice as long.

8/10 so far. Will eat some grapes or something.

Dp brought me chocolate. He senses my mood is delicate. I have a self pity thread about dps sleep disorder - any of you neurologists with information and advice?

3andnomore · 05/09/2007 20:02

lol @ menstruation being in sync on the forum....now, I know if you live in one house, females seem to be in sync...but on a forum...lol

MrsCarrot · 05/09/2007 20:10

Dd's imaginary friends are tiny deers. There was a mean girl called hannie that scared them and then she turned into a beautiful lady after I told her to go away with some smudge sticks. She was sad that she'd had to go away apparently. Gives me the creeps. The deers appear less often now she's five. We never did establish whether they were deers, or dears.

Had mackeral out of a tin for lunch and haven't had dinner yet. DH is about to arrive home, he's been gone since sunday and I am knackered. Why do their teeth come though and keep you up all night when you're on your own?

I am also having a rather large glass of Prossecco. Lunchboxes, shoes, pe kits, uniforms and book bags are lined up. I deserve it.

3andnomore · 05/09/2007 20:14

on the off chance...has anyone here a reverse osmosis watersystem fitted? If so, where did you get it from, how much was it and any tips on what to look out for when getting one...

BBBee · 05/09/2007 20:16

making pineapples - she is wonderful!

TooTicky · 05/09/2007 20:26

3, I think it is great that your ds is walking to school. So much healthier than being chauffeured everywhere. I think some children don't know what their legs are for. We have done 2 days of walking to school and back and it is very good. Hoping to keep it up.

Ds1 is ENJOYING SCHOOL! He said today was BRILLIANT! And he has been NICE and GENEROUS and CONSIDERATE!
He is 8, often moody, objects strongly to handwashing but will happily spend hours in the bath using masses of hot water and shower gel, making himself "smell beautiful". He has Sonic Death Monkey from Lush atm.

I have eaten lots, including a v. nice risotto.

TooTicky · 05/09/2007 20:27

It took me some time to work out Bod's Auntie.

IdrisTheDragon · 05/09/2007 20:32

Some food is being made. I wonder what.

Thank you for ideas on snacks - this is all helpful .

3andnomore · 05/09/2007 20:52

Toot glad your son enjoyed school...it's good when they are happy to go

Overrun · 05/09/2007 20:55

Glad your results came back okay FZ
For dinner I had some rice with various veg in (including pepper, celery, onion, garlic) and some courgette. Also big green salad, and more nectarines and apple for afters.
Not such a bad day i guess

MrsCarrot · 05/09/2007 21:03

DH is not ho,e yet and I have drunk half the bottle of Prossecco, so stone me. Perhaps it will help Lo's teeth.

Lots of sald tomatoes guacamole rosemary potatoes, spring onions grapees and basil.

pinkspottywellies · 05/09/2007 21:06

I left work thinking I wanted to go back but now I think I've decided to hand my notice in. DH said nice things about me staying at home with dd I was worried that I wouldn't be allowed to give blood but it was fine and I didn't feel too faint afterwards ( I did have an extra long lie down after and got a drink brought over to my bed!) [decadent] I have also had my drastic haircut and I like it. So good day!

I've had plums, apple juice, grapes, lettuce in sandwich, banana, tomato pasta sauce, mushrooms. Eurgh must do better. The fruit at the market is very cheap 3& - one of the girls who works there always suggests that people have a bit less because "it's expensive". Very sweet but not much of a sales technique!

I'm going to comment to Tesco about the signage in thier cereal aisle - they specify "Cereals" and "Healthy Cereals" whereas I thought that cereals were healthy unless you add crap! Therefore "cereals" and "unhealthy cereals" would be more appropriate

pinkspottywellies · 05/09/2007 21:11

Hope everything's ok with your tests Franny.

I'm having a little smile to myself about Bod's Auntie. She hasn't visited me for over 19 months I guess she could land on the doorstep any time though so I won't be too smug.

FrayedKnot · 05/09/2007 21:14

Hellooo

I have just spent b**dy ages setting up a facebook profile so I can be friends with people I work with

Now how do I see your artwork, Boco?

Today's f&v..

Grapes
Spinach
pepper
cucumber
Sprouting brocolli
Raspberries

I absolutely agree with the tiredness / blood sugar arsiness of small children

DS also usually gets woken by DH getting up at 6.30 and then we have to wait for DH to get home again at 6pm so he can play/bath DS, which means bedtime is usually just after 7. But he really could do with going at 6.30. The last hour is quite generally hell in this house, although DH usually deals with it, he's away for 2 nights so I got it all tonight

FrayedKnot · 05/09/2007 21:19

Bod's Auntie?
She was here only a few days ago.

I am obviously not attuned to the group rythmns as yet.

ahundredtimes · 05/09/2007 21:32

And I am in utter denial of them altogether.

ahundredtimes · 05/09/2007 21:37

I can't find your dp thread Boco.

Not that I am a neurologist, of course.

i DON'T GET bOD#S aUNTIE, WHOOPS, there that's better, to do with periods yes? I don't get it, or have preiods yet.

Boco · 05/09/2007 21:41

Oh it's probably best 100, i'm sharing too much again and being generally emotionally leaky. It's in health and something about sleep disorder. Feeling relieved as just had a big chat and persuaded him to go back to the doctor tomorrow. Phew.

Frayed - i think you can see it by adding the application for animated graffiti - which you'll find by clicking on applications, on the left. Then if you look in the gallery - my rabbit going for a walk is about 5th down. I keep going to see if anyone has given it any more digs because i'm sad.

ahundredtimes · 05/09/2007 21:43

Oh dear Boco. Can we clear this up once and for all - sharing is warm, friendly, likeable and brave. Not sharing is tight-arsed, weird and dislikeable.

Good on the doctor front though. Is GP good enough?

Boco · 05/09/2007 21:46

I don't know about good enough, just necessary first step. There aren't too many options really, but i want someone else to be involved now, even if it's just to acknowledge that this disorder is a nightmare [quite literally actually]

FrannyandZooey · 05/09/2007 21:47

here is the good lady herself

Avi you and I are in perfect synch and have been since we started to discuss it. 100 will have to stop denying it soon and then we can buy her a Mooncup.

PSW I love your logic about cereals being healthy by default unless pissed about with. We could change quite a few aisle signs that way, couldn't we? "Bizarre vaguely food-like products you would never dream of eating yourself but put in your child's lunchbox and call a 'treat'"

"Shelf upon shelf of scary biscuits"
