For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

TooT, maybe you should be renamed 'MightyNorks'?
Just think what all that feeding will have done for your own long term health

FrayedKnot · 22/08/2007 19:22

Evening all

2 satsumas
Loads of cherry tomatoes
Lettuce
Cucumber
Sweet potato
Spinach

Again I fail on the fruit..but I have some figs somewhere

I have a very bloated tummy & think maybe I've overdone it on the tomatoes. I usually roast cherry toms.

LL that all sounds very frightening and worrying. I don;t know whereabouts you are in Kent, but I live in Maidstone and if you are anywhere nearby, would be only to happy to help out with some shopping, or anything, really. Think saggy's comments about your DS make a lot of sense.

I am waiting for a man to come and talk to me about ripping up the concrete and crappy lawn in my back garden and making actual proper beds so we can plant flowers, herbs, & of course some veg! he should be starting next week, i am very excited as have been waiting for this for 2 years!

DollyPopsOut · 22/08/2007 19:29

How was your swim LL? Did you go out for tea afterwards? Thinking of you XXXX

Possum, when I fed DD1, I felt as though I was doing as much BF at 12 months as I had been at, say 6 monhts. She had some solid food but not much. WE both really loved it and I felt so empowered that I could still do that when she was comparatively big. Before I had children, I thought that I would only feed til about 6 months (egged on by most people who thought BF past the tiny baby stage was a bit odd) but once I started I couldn't stop. I fed her til 18 months and she pretty much self weaned when pg. Am now feeding DDD2 and loving it again.

Sorry to miss the email about a possible meet up. When is it taking place ?

Had rasps and blueberries this pm and having watercress, spinach and rocket for supper (with my pizza - but contains tomatoes and olives!). Bought a bag of clementines today - has that time come round already? I always feel autumnal and almost festive when they are in the fruit bowl.

MrsCarrot · 22/08/2007 19:32

Yes, that's what I thought too. 'Food for fun until they're one' and all that. Milk is the most calorific food for them. I really wouldn't concern yourself with how many feeds you think you SHOULD be offering. Just do what works for you both. I mentioned pinhead oatmeal but that is of course gluten if you do want to get to a year.
I remember you mentioning the club foot now, sorry, that must be so stressful. Fingers crossed evrything's ok with your appointment.

LL - I was always sceptical about 'healers' too but my herbalist used to do a brief reiki treatment at the end of my appointment and it was very peculiar. It felt like energy or whatever coming out of my feet though he wasn't touching me. It can be very reassuring if nothing else.

zippitippitoes · 22/08/2007 19:36

feeling very bad as have had no exercise today at all

made a dinner at 4.00pm

and it's now too late to go for my walk [slap myself emoticon]

I wish i lived nearer ll

FrannyandZooey · 22/08/2007 19:37

Dolly (and anyone else) don't worry you are not too late to get involved with the meet up - I have asked a few times for people to email me if they were interested

frannyandzooey at india dot com

and have replied to the people who got in touch so far. Please anyone who hasn't emailed me yet, do so, and anyone who hasn't replied, do so if you have any opinion on what was proposed

FrannyandZooey · 22/08/2007 19:41

Zippi why is it too late? Does it get too dark?

Re: spiritual healing, I have had most peculiar experiences with it. I am fairly sceptical about mystical type experiences but have felt warmth and vibrations coming into my body from a healer who was not touching me. On one occasion I fainted as it was so intense. As I mentioned before, even on occasions where it was not so impressive, I found it very soothing and, well, healing, to have another person lay their hands on you and direct their energy towards your well being for this period of time. It mystifies me a bit but it is worth a try, definitely.

FrannyandZooey · 22/08/2007 19:44

I have had:

breakfast as mentioned (4)
beetroot, cucumber, tomato, celery (1.5)
apple and pear (2)
brown lentils, puy lentils, leeks and carrots in a shepherd's pie, with cabbage, broccoli and sweetcorn (5?)

am about to have half glass oj with algae. Am declaring 13 for the day. Going to the gym in a bit - biking again.

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 22/08/2007 19:48

oh and i am too lazy now I've sat on my bed half the day..it takes me about an hour and forty five minutes

FrannyandZooey · 22/08/2007 20:11

You should have a shorter walk for days when you can only do an hour

exercise will help you cope with anything that little bit better

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 22/08/2007 20:16

I have just eaten two more nectarines and an apple

yes I am one of those people who either doesn't clean at all or has a ridiculous full blown clear out and exorcism

TooTicky · 22/08/2007 20:33

Apple, pear and ginger cake, 1 mushroom, tomatoes, small carrot, handful of grapes, courgette, onion, chard, mixed salady leaves, few blackberries.

Took ds2 and dd2 to soft play place today - it tired me out! Why isn't there a sustained all-round exercise equivalent for adults?

Am starting to worry about the meet-up - have visions of dd1 being monosyllabic, ds1 showing off and burping, ds2 burping the abc song and dd2 baring her bottom and making the farty noises her brothers have taught her

filthymindedvixen · 22/08/2007 20:36

T your children will get along famously with mine In fact burping the ABC song was mentioned only an houtr ago...

TooTicky · 22/08/2007 20:37

Phew!

pinkspottywellies · 22/08/2007 20:44

Your DC's sound great TooT! I'm in if they'll be doing that!

MrsCarrot · 22/08/2007 21:33

Tomatoes, rocket, mushrooms, slasa verde, and corn on the cob. Grapes.

Franny, how can you got out to the gym at 8pm? I am flumped by then.

pinkspottywellies · 22/08/2007 21:34

OMG busy day on 10/10!
LL I've just read through and caught up on your situation just want to echo what everyone else has said. I hope you can find some solutions (alternative therapies have been a big help to some people I know and the samaritans is a good idea if you don't want to tell anyone in rl) and if there's anything I can do I will but I'm not close enough to do anything practical I'm afraid. Sending you positive vibes

I've not been too good today with f&v, raisins, tomato, mushrooms (in carbonara), salad (1.5 portions), stewed plums, orange juice. 6.5 and only exercise was walking.
Must try harder.

filthymindedvixen · 22/08/2007 21:37

oh. Apple, blackberries, apple juice, lentil, canneloni and spinach curry with red pepper; cauliflower/brocolli et carrot au gratin with potato wedges.

And marshmallows. Well, mallow is a plant right?

MrsCarrot · 22/08/2007 21:41

I like the sound of carrot gratin, how is that done FMV?

PSW - Do you still work in the choc orange peel shop? I could eat some right now.

FrannyandZooey · 22/08/2007 21:46

Been to gym - got there at 8.50 pm MrsC I am not bfing or up in the night with LOs atm (well not much anyway) and my days are fairly lazy I guess. I am only doing quick blasts this week anyway. Did 5 mins on cross trainer, 3 miles on bike, abs and back stuff.

Does someone here like Fleetwood Mac? Is it you zippi?

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 22/08/2007 21:48

er no it isn't

MrsCarrot · 22/08/2007 21:51

LOL at Zippi's er no

That was the first album I bought. I listened to a new album, The Trials of Van Occupanther the other day and I thought they sounded a little fleetwood mac ey

pinkspottywellies · 22/08/2007 21:53

Yes MrsC I was working there today. There's no chocolate orange peel left but I have got some rum truffles and gelatin-free jellies

womblingalong · 22/08/2007 21:54

Hello

LL how awful and worrying, please don't be too shy to ask for help, from us or any of the other fab suggestions everyone has made.

Franny and the others are right you know, our DS's reaction is natural and normal, and a testament to your parenting, although it must be awful to cope with right now.

Not such a good day for me today. Blueberries, avocado, lettuce, pea and mint soup, apple, nectarine. 6/10

No exercise, except for lugging around DS, lots of housework and crawling on floor playing tents with DD

FrannyandZooey · 22/08/2007 21:56

LOL zippi

I sense I have offended you

who is it then? Stand up! Don't be shy!
