FAB TITLE BY FMF (AND BBB)

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Lullaby, have a lovely day

100 - Useless? I was NOT

Avi was it just the kitchen then? We all knew damn well that you were going to buy that - I thought you had bought the play box as well, or something...The kitchen is a ruddy heirloom. I think it's a superb buy - if you love it that much you will have a great time playing with it. I am planning a wooden food splurge myself at some point (we NEED wooden asparagus) but don't tell dp...

I heart your ds Franny. My ds1 just said, post Gormley trip 'But don't you think those figures were just, well, a bit suicidal?'

'Oh no' I cried 'they were frightfully witty.'

Gloomy clouds, 'No, they were trying to kill themselves Mum.'

No fruit in the house, a couple of rather sad looking spring onions in the fridge. I'm defrosting kedgeree, pitta bread and mince. I don't think we're going to make even 2/10 before we go away on Saturday.

I'm not coming to the meet-up, but I'd quite like to spy. But then you'll all come back and have in-jokes and little nods about the size of Boco's ears, and I'll feel all left out.

zippitippitoes · 16/08/2007 11:54

I have had a nectarien and strawberries on my breakfast and a tears streaming down my face moment ...

which caught me a bit by surprise so have to get out of that

could i express an interest in this meet up?

I also hurt my back between my should er blades reaching down by the bed to pick up the laptop one handedly

FrannyandZooey · 16/08/2007 11:58

hope you are doing ok zippi? Email me about the meet up

100 of course you must come, you have not stopped blathering on about meet ups since you joined and now HERE ONE IS

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 16/08/2007 11:59

lolol. So true. Am fascinated but appalled in equal measure.

Zippi - why the tears at breakfast?

zippitippitoes · 16/08/2007 12:11

I'm ok I have decided the best cure is listening to the entire Manic Street Preachers back catalogue..

zippitippitoes · 16/08/2007 12:12

of course I know the real answer is more fruit and veg

ahundredtimes · 16/08/2007 12:18

Both, at the same time? MSP with nectarines and cabbage.

You've got a hell of a day ahead Zippi.

zippitippitoes · 16/08/2007 12:35

zippitippitoes · 16/08/2007 13:06

Manics weren't working so I am giving vauxhall and I a try before I give up and get happy again!

TooTicky · 16/08/2007 13:10

LL, here it is
Parsley Cottage indeed! I didn't realise they'd named it after their blimmim' dog (the dog that has pooed in our garden on several occasions)

zippitippitoes · 16/08/2007 13:19

nice house I'll swap it for the one in the garden

3andnomore · 16/08/2007 13:31

Hi All,
well...as for 10/10....not gonna exercise today, but eating wise I am doing well again....Watermelon, Nectarines, Apple, Carrots and Cucumber so far...and roughly 8 portions....
am really into hoummus dips, etc...at the moment...I am a bit of a freak, I go through phases where I will eat certain things like everyday....have you noticed, lol!
Franny emailed you about the meet up and lovely pics of the boys there....
Toot...yeah teh whole thing about men with flouncing Willies has given me erm...well...the willies...lol....
lol Avi at everyone encouraging your spending ratehr then the hoped for talking out of it, lol...it is absolutely gorgeous though, that Kitchen
Wombling, I have posted on your bf thread...
Lullaby, wihtin Corby I think you would get an absolute Palce or one of those new build executives (sp?) homes and still "only" spend like 300K, and even that might be difficult to spend....however, mark my words, Houseprices will raise loads as they are building a Trainstation in Corby (and there is generally huge investment in Corby in other places aswell, like Towncentre and schools, etc....) and once the Trainstation is in place commuting to Londodn will be an hours trip....so, not bad
Zippi, sorry to hear about teh tears at Breakfast

MrsCarrot · 16/08/2007 13:37

Was up half the night with Lo screaming. Took him to the docs this morning and he has another ear infection. Also it loooks like there is a bit of glue ear, poor thing.

GP was crap and said he didn't believe all the allergy/dairy mucous stuff and he just had large adenoids. (LO not HIM) I mentioned that the consultant allergist had said last week that it was difficult to idenify WHICH allergen was causing the excess mucous AND referred us to a dietician and he said in ten years of being a gp (late starter??) he had never heard of allergens being mucous forming, only tongue swelling etc. Good job he's not the consultant allergist then eh?

I phoned back after to ask him about flying and he said probably fine in a week. I said, but won't glue ear cause more pain and he said, yes, granted it might but it is a very long way . Like I trust his opinion now.

But, hooray, normal blood result so had porridge to celebrate.

Avi - The kitchen is the right decision, and anyway, it's less money than we wuld have spent going to Scotalnd for a few days and Franny's right, it will be an heirloom. I will e-mail you and discuss planes further.

100x - you won't come to the meet, will you, how about borrowing Boco's mask? Actually I feel quite nervous about it, what if they think I'm weird, annoying, talk too quickly etc. I think there might have to be wine, or G and T on the train anyway.

TooTicky · 16/08/2007 13:41

Great news about your result MrsC
Hope your lo feels better quickly. Earache is so horrid for babies, isn't it?

TheMaskedPoster · 16/08/2007 13:55

Hello ladies, sorry to crash in but I have a question which I'm sure you will know the answer to ...

DH got himself a packet of shredded green beans from a supermarket to nibble on at lunch (as he loves them and is trying a healthy approach to food at the moment). However after ploughing through a third of the packet he noticed that it said 'do not eat raw' on the front .

I am at a loss as to why this is so, and often gnaw on them when pottering around cooking tea ... is it really that bad?

TIA

FrannyandZooey · 16/08/2007 13:58

Gracious. Apparently they contain cyanide . You appear to have survived to tell the tale though.

OP posts:
TooTicky · 16/08/2007 13:59

Some beans (such as kidney beans) contain toxins when raw. I think the packaging is just being over cautious, especially if it has never caused a problem for you.

TooTicky · 16/08/2007 14:00

Of course I could be vastly wrong
