For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

at thread title!
I am also thinking about F&V more and therefore buying and eating more! Some of the mums from my local toddler group have been meeting up at someone's house during the summer hols and people usually bring biscuits. I didn't have any biscuits to hand or time to go to the shop so I took apples and apricots

I can highly recommend Franny's Banana Bread recipe (even I as a sweet fiend can't imagine why you'd want sugar in it ). I made double the quantity this afternoon thinking I'd freeze one but I don't think it'll last that long! In fact I don't think we'll be eating any more bananas in this house just waiting til they go too soft and then saying 'oh well, I'll just have to make some banana bread!'
Feel much better after my early night. Thanks for sending me to bed everyone! I just so engrossed on here that all of a sudden it's 11 o'clock! I had a great day today. I've done 3 loads of washing, hoovered and mopped downstairs, been to the market for fruit, baked banana bread, cleaned bathroom and dd has had 2 naps. She's been a bit off kilter with sleep lately so that's big news!
Gosh, long, sorry!

Oh and by the way... raisins, melon, cucumber, (quarter of a) tomato (dd ate the rest), banana bread , leftover goulash (onions and peppers) with peas, and I will again pledge to have an apple and orange juice tonight (I did last night - drank the oj whilst pouring my wine )

Avi that is a lovely kitchen but am a bit at the price! On the plus side you will get years of play out of it - it might take up quite a lot of room though? DD1 has a smaller version of this from blooming marv catalogue. The oven bit and the sink bit is plenty for her and her wee friends when they come over to play. So 2 bits rather than the 4.... let me know if you buy it though so I can have kitchen envy!

PSW - am deeply impressed at your industry today. Also a bit of the banana bread as i didn't get to eat any! Look forward to tryinig the sugar free version soon.

Had carrot, radish, cucumber, tom, beetroot, pepper for tea with ham. Oh, and toast. Got to go out for lunch tom so god knows how I'll do on the f and v stakes then.

Bear story made my heart beat faster. You must have been terrified. Bloody hell.

Franny, I went to Brixton to go to snappy snaps. They get excellent colours on their prints and are quite reasonably priced too. I live a bit further down the road in Dulwich. ON the way there the bus driver took my fare and then shouted at me to get off the "effing bus" as already 2 buggies on there. I said politely I didn't see them when I got on and asked for my quid back if I was being thrown off for clogging the aisle. More abuse. Jeez, to whom does one report bus drivers for being sods? Or shoudl I just toughen up?

Oh avi, the kitchen's beautiful! But how much !!! My mum made a fab toy cooker from an old bedside table - I think dd will be using that! But the washing machine with revolving drum

DollyPopsOut · 06/08/2007 21:17

Avi I love ebay and charity shops for the DDs. Have got some top bargains for them both. If you have been so fiscal in the last 2 years, I'd say go for it! The wooden fruit and veg is gorgeous too, but am trying not to look too closely or we'll have even more stuff in our (already jam packed) house....

pinkspottywellies · 06/08/2007 21:18

Dolly, there was no need for him to be so rude. That kind of thing really stays with me - I'd still be fuming if I was you!

I would have his name, number and badge and would be stomping off to the bus station to raise the roof. That's horrible.

I was wondering about that, Franny, my bike doesn't feel very stable with a bike seat on it.

What I'd really like is a light, sleek bike for myself ALONE. I used to love to cycle for miles.

Avi, it is gorgeous but rather expensive.

Are you sure he won't use it as a track/building site for his diggers? My DS2 is a digger child too. Odd.

Yes, Boco that's the one. I love PIP (people in peril) stories, as long as they survive, of course.

No, it's lovely because it isn't brightly coloured and it looks so well made and you can see the wood grain.

If you have been coveting it for a year perhaps you should reward your own self-control and BUY IT.

Unless you would really like to us to come over all super-ego on you?

lionheart · 06/08/2007 21:28

You have a digger husband. He's not doing it for work? Wow.

Isn't it a little bit endearing?

Steady there, Dolly. I must take another peek.

It would go really well with the wooden food.

I thought you were going to say he gets it from your husband who works in construction. But he goes to building sites because he enjoys them, is that it?
