Fat belly? No. Ovarian Cancer Belly (part 3) still going!

TwitterQueen1 · 25/07/2019 13:10

This is the story of my ovarian cancer discovery and treatment from March 2017 to now. I hope it proves informative / interesting / thoughtful ... and most of all, perhaps make someone think 'actually I need to go the doctor about this and not just assume I've got a pelvic floor / weight problem'.

I am not having treatment - I was on an early phase trial with olaparib and cedirinab, which was going well but the doctors discovered brain mets in May, and after targeted radiotherapy there's not much else they can do.

I'm recently home after 3 weeks in hospital with pneumonia and sepsis so I cannot promise any exciting tales (except falling over). I moan a lot about steroid-induced diabetes.

Happy to hear any terrible (or good) jokes, rants, raves, anecdotes. I was/am a woolly hugger but can't do anything right now.

I am so sorry to hear that the lovely TQ has gone. I followed her story from the very beginning and was absolutely amazed by her strength and generosity during what can only have been the most challenging of times. Her friendships on Mumsnet were so genuine and she provided such wonderful advice and support to them. If only we could all be so lucky to have someone like Madeline in our lives. She spoke of her daughters with such pride... I am so sorry for their loss Thanks

FaithInfinity · 21/08/2019 11:16

So sorry to hear about TQ’s passing. Thinking of you @Shelovesmilktray and al her family at this difficult time. I posted on the first thread, it’s a situation dear to my heart because we lost Mum to ovarian cancer several years ago. Love to you all.

mrsrhodgilbert · 21/08/2019 11:35

Such sad news, I knew her from the other thread, we had daughters the same age. Just heartbreaking.

Another lurker sending love and condolences to TQ's family and friends at this very sad time Flowers

UnholyStramash · 21/08/2019 15:29

Dear Madeleine, our one and only Twitter Queen, RIP. We knew it was coming close to the end but I’m another who’s shed a tear on reading this sad news. My condolences to the three girls she clearly adored and cared about and Madeleine’s friends and other relatives. Thanks too to @shelovesmilktray for passing on this news - such a horrible task to have to perform.

Proseccoinamug · 21/08/2019 15:30

RIP lovely lady

Schuyler · 21/08/2019 17:28

Sleep easy now, Madeleine. You were kind and caring with an awesome fiery attitude. I followed your story from the start and I always noticed your posts on other boards because you were articulate, intelligent, thoughtful and just....you. You made a difference in this world, especially in the MN world.

Condolences to the precious TQ DDs and to all those who knew and loved her. Flowers

Daisychainsandglitter · 21/08/2019 18:34

Rest in peace dear Madeleine. You were witty and intelligent and fought this awful disease with great dignity.
Truly inspirational.
Sending lots of love to your family friends and your lovely DD's Thanks

RIP wonderful lady, you will be missed so very much.

My love and thoughts are with TQ’s daughters, they can be so proud of their incredible mother Flowers

PutYourBackIntoit · 22/08/2019 01:27

I've just read TQ's posts in a few hours. I am so saddened to hear of her passing, after a rollercoaster of a journey. I would like to say a huge Thank you to her for sharing her story. I will definitely be shouting from the rooftops about OC from now on. Sorry you didn't get to the hospice, TQ. Your incredible daughters must feel heartbroken and proud. Thank you Madeline 💐

Brassica · 22/08/2019 11:01

Adding my appreciation for TQ’s contribution on this and the other cancer thread. She had to go through so much in dealing with this awful disease, and I suspect she didn’t let on about the half of it in terms of complaining or describing the grim effects it had. She was above all dignified and determined to make some good come out of her diagnosis. I hope she had some idea of how admired and cared for she was by a bunch of internet strangers. RIP Madeleine, and I’m so sorry you never got to sleep under the stars in the US as you’d hoped. Glitterball

anterenea · 22/08/2019 12:17

Long time lurker on this thread, I am so sorry to hear of TQ's passing. I am in awe of her courage, generosity, humour and thankful for raising this issue so eloquently and movingly. My condolences to her daughters and I wish them strength Flowers

CrepuscularCritter · 22/08/2019 15:11

Such sad news. TQ - Madeleine - was simply brilliant: caring, witty and taking no prisoners. You made a difference TQ. Much love and light to your DDs and friends.

Shelovesmilktray · 23/08/2019 18:34

I’ve been passing on everyone’s lovely messages to Madeleine’s DD’s.

They’ve asked me to post the following:

To everyone who has taken the time to honour our amazing Mum over the past few days:

The three of us would like to say a huge thank you for all your kindness; we have been blown away by the sheer number of well-wishers and people whose lives Mum touched. She was even more incredible in real life. Mum was kind, strong, hilarious, thoughtful, witty, wise, loving and clever. I (DD1) could sit here all day and fabulous stories about her and it still wouldn’t be a true testament to her character.

I feel it’s important to let you know that the 3 of us are ok. We are heartbroken and probably always will be, but that’s alright – we have each other, our wonderful family and Mum’s massive group of kind and funny friends. For those wishing to attend Mum’s funeral, we’ll have the details sorted soon.

Love,

The Twitter Princesses!
