Hiya, just deciding what on earth to do here after my second baby. We don;t yet know if a third is on the cards but if we do I would start trying in a year or so. I don't really want to use anything like injections/implants/IUD as they are more long term. What would the more experienced of you recommend??

Quackers · 17/09/2004 21:06

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!! Nice one Twigs. Not that there's much chance of a liason at the moment, but will certainly use that phrase should the need arise!!!

The Pill

charliecat · 17/09/2004 21:33

Condoms for us, being a ditzy mare I couldnt remember to take the pill pre children so now id take it maybe once a week!
Had one split one and had to go to the chemist for the morning after pill, just in case, but at least I sleep at night not worrying.

charliecat · 17/09/2004 21:34

split one once

unicorn · 17/09/2004 21:36

Twiglett!!!
TBQH.. 2 kids..brilliant But super hard work...= contraception enough for us!

sweetkitty · 17/09/2004 22:32

Pill always worked great for me, I just used to take it straight before brushing my teeth at night so I wouldn't forget.

Post DD, tiredness and a second degree tear are the best contraception ever! Seriously though we are using condoms as am breast feeding.

zaphod · 17/09/2004 23:41

Condoms.
And that's NOT why I have five children.

Condoms.

Sometimes withdrawal method.

jennifersofia · 18/09/2004 13:58

I use a diaphram, and that works well.

beansmum · 18/09/2004 15:50

i find that sharing my bed with a 15wk old baby is pretty good contraception!

Sterilisation for me. I can't take the pill since havoing kids, got pg using a diaphragm, coil gave me infections.

coppertop · 18/09/2004 16:20

So far the most effective method appears to be ds1 bursting into our bedroom and announcing, "Daddeeee! You forgot to put your clothes on!"

deegward · 18/09/2004 16:22

I can 't believe how many of us use condoms, we do too, although I had always associated them with being a teenager!

colinsmommy · 18/09/2004 16:25

I love the Pill, and after ending up with a baby because of forgetting to take a few, I haven't forgot any since giving birth.

JiminyCricket · 18/09/2004 16:52

I just had my coil taken out (dd just 1) as we're ttc. Never had any problems with it and the gp seemed happy enough I was only using it short term. Just so easy

Furball · 18/09/2004 16:55

Mirena coil - comes with added bonus, no periods, how fantastic is that?

color · 18/09/2004 16:57

hate the condom but that's what we use too and the far too few occassions that it's needed! As said before surprised how many have so far said they do too.

Kayleigh · 18/09/2004 17:00

dh has had a vasectomy. It's very liberating

color · 18/09/2004 17:02

DH said he would (finally) and hasn't mentioned it again since . I have brought up the subject so many times and now stopped trying to avoid it so he will think "I must get it done" but it's not easy!!

Kayleigh · 18/09/2004 17:04

It is so worth it color. And it really isn't THAT painful (or so dh told me). I think the thought of it is worse for them than the actual doing.
