Hiya, just deciding what on earth to do here after my second baby. We don;t yet know if a third is on the cards but if we do I would start trying in a year or so. I don't really want to use anything like injections/implants/IUD as they are more long term. What would the more experienced of you recommend??

Coil here too, it didn't hurt much for me but I did feel faint afterwards - apparently this is 'cervical shock' due to the cervix being opened up quickly. Also it has made my periods go on longer each month. Not looking forward to having to have it changed!

I can't say it hurt really. Bled a bit after the fitting and had one heavy period but after that - nothing!! I went back voluntary to have another one which I dont need as dh has had snip, cos a 10 min coil fitting which was a bit uncomfortable is massively better than periods every month and migraines.

mirena helps with heavy periods ks, I've had mine since january and my periods are virtually non existent now (although very light they go on for longer)

it's hassle-free contraception imo and the hormone level is much lower than the pill

I was on the femodone pill before having dd now on mini pill. Did anyone have probs with periods with it as I had a period when I started then again at 17 days and I am now 4 days late and dont think I am pregnant as it does say on instructions that you can have a 17 day then 35 day cycle for the first few months. Has anyone else experienced this? I am not breast feeding now so maybe I should use something else?

Susanmt, my doc didn't want to fit the Mirena whilst breastfeeding because he said it would be even more painful than usual. He clearly thought that I should take the minipill whilst breastfeeding, which is what I have been doing.

My question to all of you who have used the Mirena, is this: have any of you decided to have a baby after having the Mirena taken out? Have any of you had complications in trying to conceive that were associated with having the Mirena?

Was combining persona and condoms (ie. used condoms on 'green' days, no sex on 'red' days) when dd was conceived.

Now had mirena fitted, so fingers crossed. Might use condoms too, we'll see how it goes.

ks, I had smear and coil fitted at same time. They have to do one then the other, so doc warned it'd mean 2 speculums when I asked! But was fine, not at all painful.

almost40, mine was fitted and I'm fully breastfeeding. It was fine! According to mirena website fertility should immediately return to normal levels when it's removed, but I'd also be interested in answers to your question.
