God it must be awful for you Trace, poor DD
Fingers crossed you get some answers soon

fearscape · 27/07/2007 13:02

Oh Trace this must be awful for you, so sorry. Sounds a lot like my ds had only because he was hooked up to monitors all the time we could tell when his oxygen levels were getting dangerously low and the nurses would leap into action! The reflux can affect breathing because the milk can come up the oesophagus from the stomach and go back down the windpipe into the lungs. Ds had several chest x-rays where they could see "damp" patches on his lungs. Are the breathing problems happening after feeds? This is when ds was worst and had to have his oxygen turned up. Glad she is on the drugs now, hope they make a difference, although I think they have to stop the ranitidine to do the pH test because it makes the stomach contents less acidic.

Before ds was diagnosed the hospital thought he might have an H-fistula (a little hole between the oesphagus and windpipe), apparently the symptoms are similar to silent reflux, has anyone mentioned this to you?

Do hope they manage to diagnose her soon and sort her out. Don't have any wise words about coping but lots of sympathy.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 27/07/2007 19:30

Hoping things went ok today Trace.

chocolateshoes · 27/07/2007 19:37

Positive thoughts for you Trace, take care

Leati · 27/07/2007 19:50

Hey Trace2

Two of mine had reflux but no near as bad as that. When I first read your thread I thought it must be a mistake. But then I did research and it turns out that some babies have a harder time of it. My daughter had a hard time gaining weight so the doctor gave her tagament as soon as she was old enought. Now she is 18 months and has no problems, it appears that has out grown it. I attached some links on another thread that you started, there is some good info in there. With mine they did x-rays for one and not for the other. So I don't think it is always standard. Anyway, I hope that your babe feels better. Give your baby lots of xxx's and ooo's and cuddles and feel assured that she should outgrow this.

daisyandbabybootoo · 27/07/2007 20:03

trace, i hope things are alrihgt and that the tests are telling them what's going on.

i'm off on holiday tomorrow, but if you need help with anything I'm back next saturday. CAT me any time, I'm only in Leeds.

Take care and try to get some rest.
hugs, Daisyxx

Hi Trace was checking to see how your doing. My dr friend has looked at this thread, but says sometimes its so difficult to diagnose these things without ruling out others that she can't really say anything to help. (which I guess is what your hospital is trying to do) She has suggested that you push for specialist help though, even if it means you transfering to a hospital not in your area. Hth's. also hope you got some further clarification on things today?? {{{Hugs}}}

Phoenix · 27/07/2007 21:10

first of all i want to thank you all for all the kind wishers and surport and research you all have done for us !

today dd had eeg painless but disressing for her, had to wait all day for results but now got them back and dd is home once again, they say she had some abmornalitys but only minor so not doing any thing about them unless she shoes more signs of fits. they still think its silent reflux cos its always within a hour after feeds.

had a bit of problems with peads as two of them wanted her on there books but we got the one in the end who speicelizse in gastric so feel a little happier. they gave us a two week to go back where ever we have a problem

Phoenix · 27/07/2007 21:46
