For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh, LL, I hadn't forgotten about the playmobil, just a bit disorganised, have had things to contend with such as the pink paint episode and the fact that ds1 now has only 2 days to complete a barely started project, and finding vegan food replacements for dd1 to take on her residential trip... will have a sort out and email you later

The falafel were utterly impressive looking. They were a bit dry on the inside, not sure how to remedy that. They didn't fall to bits though, which was a first! Here Was hard going with a stick blender though and I was wondering if you can still get proper non-electric grinders - would be useful for nuts too. Must do research.

Lullabyloo · 09/07/2007 14:29

thanks Toot...really no hurry at all...didn't want you to think I'd forgotten!

what's all this about pink paint????????

wow..I couldn't cope without my food processor...how an earth did you manage with a stick blender???
ask on freecycle & I expect someone would have a grinder they dont use

BBBeeRose · 09/07/2007 14:35

nice title.

I've had some strawberries and not much else yet- will eat an apple on way to school pick up. Only 1 coffee though - are you cutting down too 100x?

How was the wedding was it dire or okay?

NotQuiteCockney · 09/07/2007 17:08

Have had:

  • vegetable bake with marrow and butternut squash
  • lots of really nice strawberries (different variety than usual, too!)
  • decent portion of ratatouille

Dinner will involve:

  • salad
  • peach cobbler
BBBeeRose · 09/07/2007 17:35

wow nqc - feel like I have a bit of a way to go to get to ten.

raspberries
apple on way to school
tuna pasta salad with hardly any tuna and pasta and loads of sweetcorn, cuc, toms, kidney beans, grated carrot, onion.

Lullabyloo · 09/07/2007 18:40

banana cake was delicious franny
used raspberries instead of raisins

now need a healthy chocolate cake recipe(is there such a thing?),...ds is determined he wants a chocolate birthday cake like his friend ....guess the normal carrot cake is not going to wash this year.....

supper is lentil stew with
carrots, onions, butternut squash, sweet potato,celery,peas,watercress.................will be blended into soup for tomorrow lunch

NotQuiteCockney · 09/07/2007 18:53

I don't think I've had 10 today, but it's been a total zoo ... was meant to be doing dinner for 6 (family +2) but ended up with 8. Extra two being ILs.

Peach cobbler came out well.

Healthy chocolate cake: I'd recommend either a chocolate courgette cake (good one in the G+B cookbook) or chocolate beetroot cake.

NotQuiteCockney · 09/07/2007 18:54

I have to go have a shower, put kids to bed, get dressed to go out, get ILs out of house, greet babysitter, and get to gig. For 8pm. .

Not sure what I'm wearing either.

Lullabyloo · 09/07/2007 19:08

mmmmmmmmmm....peach cobbler sounds utterly divine

havn't got the G&B book....both sound good though...anyone made either & have a recipe???????

Lullabyloo · 09/07/2007 19:09

NQC...nice relaxing evening then ....hope it's an enjoyable one

BBBeeRose · 09/07/2007 19:38

TheDuchessOfNorks · 09/07/2007 19:53

I am so enjoying your thread titles! Long may they continue.

FrannyandZooey · 09/07/2007 21:05

AH THIS ONE IS GREENY'S

(100x I am sorry but I can't, I just can't, I hope you don't actually kill yourself because of me, as I would feel quite bad, but I would blame Greeny)

I feel like I am never here these days. I am sure this will all change in the summer holidays. Meanwhile can people if possible be very encouraging and kind to newcomers (and everyone) etc etc. Thank you.

I have had mixed sprouted beans, cucumber, carrot, hummus, tomato, and red pepper for dinner. Raspberries and red currants for pudding (and then quite a lot of chocolate)

I have a copy of the G+B cookbook (brand new) for sale if anyone wants it

Lullaby glad the banana cake worked out well - gorgeous isn't it?

100x it was the clutch A rather expensive part of the car to go wrong, apparently. Never mind, all fixed now so we can go to see HC this weekend, hurrah!

I love your thread titles, Franny.
Do you lie awake at night thinking of them?

FrannyandZooey · 09/07/2007 21:12

LOL aaargh no

Ah that was what I wanted to ask you Avi - did you use the sniping website, or just put in a good unbeatable bid? I will try to kick you off nicely, but you know they say you should take a short break from studying every 45 mins, so just enough time to pop on here and tell us what you are doing

Humphrey don't worry, this lot are usually teasing me by pretending to compliment me on the titles when they know it is someone else really. Stay and have a banana?

Lullaby, I don't know, I am not sure what they cost new....will return with suggestion

FrannyandZooey · 09/07/2007 21:39

Ok, seems to be £15 (reduced to £10 on Amazon). Mine is new, still shrinkwrapped...a fiver? Plus £2 towards postage (2nd class)?

Don't worry if you have changed your mind. It is in my present box atm and can easily stay there until an appropriate birthday comes along.

Oh no, you didn't spend the afternoon bidding against one another did you?

I hadn't even thought that you weren't meant to be buying stuff! I think this falls into essentials, doesn't it?

and I wouldn't want to clutter up your newly streamlined house with nasty old books about chocolate
