For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I am not vegi, but don't eat a lot of meat, quite partial to parma ham though. They had shepherds pie tonight, I had rice and veg thought we normally eat together.

So it seems like the question should be, are there actually any vegetarians on here?

OP posts:
lionheart · 02/07/2007 22:03

You?

MrsCarrot · 02/07/2007 22:05

oh, for a baguette

Tend to eat mine Nigella style, ie, scoffing in front of fridge but occasionly I'll perch some on an asparagus risotto.

FrannyandZooey · 02/07/2007 22:06

Other than me.

MrsCarrot · 02/07/2007 22:06

sorry, meat talk unpleasant for vegetarians, have you always been vegi, Franny?

lionheart · 02/07/2007 22:06

Actually, there are others, I'm sure.

FrannyandZooey · 02/07/2007 22:18

I think Filly is and Overrun isn't. But then I thought Tatties was.

MrsC I don't mind other people talking about meat in passing. I probably wouldn't spend time on a thread where people were, you know, discussing it in detail

Have been veggie for erm

ooh shit

21 years. Christ I am old

I' m not a veggie. Used to be. But don't wish to be defined by my y'know, meat-eating habits...

I need to lose weight. I've never had to diet in my life. I have no idea how many calories are in anything...

I've just had lovely pork in mshroom, onions, mustaryd sauce. With spinach, fgreen beans and broccoli. And more watermelon for pud

Greensleeves · 02/07/2007 22:28

LOL at "hideous pies", I think I know the ones you mean. Wh

en dh and I were first together I had to impose a ban on all convenience foods which came under the heading "greyfood". This umbrella term encompassed all the worst horrors of his diet, including such culinary abominations as all-day-breakfast sandwiches, tinned hot dogs, anything made by Ginsters, pork pies, etc. He is all but weaned off them now, 12 years on, but we must remain vigilant and avoid complacency - the occasional lapse into greyfood consumption is an ever-present threat to our happy home.

[sceptical] what about cheese, butter, and cream?

OP posts:
Boco · 02/07/2007 22:31

What do you mean turning into Boco??

The other day someone said that to mean being unduly anxious about stuff, now used for giving tmi?

A worryer who grosses people out?

Professorfilthymindedvixen · 02/07/2007 22:31

by added sugar do you, by any chance mean sugar added by me? {hopeful emoticon]. Or do you mean sugar at all...>

Life without cake is life withour meaning.

Greensleeves · 02/07/2007 22:31

easy

no fat, no salt, no sugar, no gluten, no dairy

see the weight come off!

FrannyandZooey · 02/07/2007 22:32

agree calories though

just eat wholegrains and pulses and loads of fruit and veg

and exercise

just do this thread, basically

if you are still of generous proportion then IMO that is the shape you are meant to be at the moment
