For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I wish I'd come yours F&Z. Music group I mean. I have sampled a few in my time, one was particularly awful and allowed us and the dcs time at the end to 'express ourselves with a scarf' to music. All those tired mums smiling weakly and wrapping their chld in a slightly stained blue silk scarf for the four millionth time, and the child standing on it and half strangling itself. It just went on so.

Today have eaten pineapple, banana, apple, grapes, miso soup again - did we decide if I was allowed seaweed or not? And will eat something vegetably tonight.

I liked Ask Not for Whom the Kale Curls

MrsCarrot · 02/07/2007 19:52

ah yes, the silken materials, we all held the edges of a large (also blue but no stains that I remember)silk scarf and rolled balls over it in time to the music. The pinnacle of the game was to TOSS the balls as high as possible and squeal with delight as they rained down over the happy shakers. They loved it.

I seem to recall DD's preferred spot being under the scarf with her arm held high, this resulted in balls rolling off before the scheduled pinnacle.

ahundredtimes · 02/07/2007 19:59

Oh I could have gone for the balls Mrs C, I think, would have been a diversion from the 'let's pretend I'm a frankly exhausted and bored isadora duncan' thing we had to do.
At another we walked round in a circle singing 'I'm the music man'. Half of us had to carry them because they wouldn't walk and out of the other half, only two of the children seemed to be actively enjoying it.

I went for the biscuits.

MrsCarrot · 02/07/2007 20:04

you had biscuits?

Oh yes biscuits, stuffed our sleep deprived faces we did. Or perhaps it was just me?

Avi, ahah, it'll all start now. Actually I'm being unecessarily jaundiced. Sometimes they liked it actually, and it was definitely Something Good To Do. We also went to something called Paint and Sing. I made a lot of pasta tractors. but must admit am glad to have left toddler activities behind. Was a very persuasive reason not to have a fourth.

Oh am jealous of your Thai Green curry. I make a v. nice one with veg. Might do tomorrow.

a-HA you HAVE been to my group

Avi I think percussion instruments are about the most fun you can have with a 2 year old. If you get a lot of adults to all sit round and play one each, in time to some music, it is really very amusing. You must sing to them even if you can't hold a tune. And dancing to music that you do both like is always fun.

Have eaten butternut squash, carrot and lentil thing. Plus an apple.

and at all these divine Thai meals

Mmm, I love green curry and pad thai, and chilli prawns and tom yum and fish cakes and pork dumplings with plum sauce....

actually had brown rice and veg with sweet chilli sauce, at least three portions!

MrsCarrot · 02/07/2007 21:12

portions of veg that is, not three platefuls

lionheart · 02/07/2007 21:33

Hello everyone. Have eaten loads but the usual fruity suspects .... that list is making me drool, MrsC.

Greensleeves · 02/07/2007 21:37

I have had a lovely veggie chilli tonight containing tomatoes, French beans, chickpeas, carrots, onions, kidney beans, peas, sweetcorn, muchrooms, red lentils and yellow split lentils. And an apple, and a glass of orange juice.

GOD dh is being an utter tube steak tonight, he is doing his limp-wristed slack-jawed jelly-brained maladjusted mumbling-into-his-beard twatfuck thing.

Does it have to be 10 portions of different things, btw? Or would 2 apples count as 2 portions?

lionheart · 02/07/2007 21:42

I think you're supposed to aim for diversity if you can, and to balance fruit and vegetables.

What is a "tube steak"? Is that very rude?

Tatties · 02/07/2007 21:43

Ooh Greeny we had veggie chilli tonight too! Ours had tomatoes, green lentils, onion, kidney beans, sweetcorn, mushrooms, red pepper, cougette and carrot. It was nice but not spicy enough for my liking... I have also eaten 2 satsumas, some fruit juice and a prune
Ah maybe I'm not doing as bad as I thought

Greensleeves · 02/07/2007 21:44

It's a dick, lionheart. A big throbbing hairy veiny dick.

lionheart · 02/07/2007 21:45

Are all the people on this thread vegetarian?

lionheart · 02/07/2007 21:47

Oh, that's not so bad then.

"limp-wristed slack-jawed jelly-brained maladjusted mumbling-into-his-beard twatfuck thing."

ha ha ha, I was cursing dh like that last night when he came back from the pub with friends, lit flares in the garden and generally was a drunk person trying to be quiet, breaking a glass and laughter followed by shhhes. I texted him twice from the bedroom and told them all to piss off in the end and made him sleep on the sofa, think I am getting premenstrual

lionheart · 02/07/2007 21:49

Same here aviatrix. Hardly eat red meat but eat chicken and fish. I used to be a vegetarian (for 12 years or so).

Greensleeves · 02/07/2007 21:50

I've just come and sat next to him at the computer where he is glumly "working from hom" (ie avoiding my company because he might be called upon to talk to me), smiled at him and done the most enormous silent toxic vegetarian fart in the history of the world

lionheart · 02/07/2007 21:51

Slightly unfortunate juxtaposition of carnivorous insults and vegetarian discussion.

Tatties · 02/07/2007 21:51

I haven't eaten meat for 10 years, but like Avi, I love fish and couldn't give that up. So I am not a veggie but we have mainly veggie meals.
