For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information if you follow the link at the very bottom of the page

80/20 split sounds fair.

TooTicky · 19/06/2007 23:29

Well, I looked at the salad leaves, then completely distracted myself and ended up buying rainbow carrots and purple kohlrabi
Feel guilty spending money, but it IS an investment. And ds2 will be delighted - he takes carrots very seriously.

FrannyandZooey · 20/06/2007 07:44

Aha that flushed Greeny out of the woodwork How are you, you rancid old soak?

100x sorry for not replying, I went to bed [pious] Yes just tell us what you ate / are eating and what exercise you have done. Then it is customary to discuss Salinger novels (oh I am missing Tatties as well) and generally shoot the breeze. Then after a week if you have done well, we can have one of our Special Initiation Ceremonies (Avi can you start making another Wicker Man if you have time? Looks like we might be needing a few this week...)

Dior would you like to join us? The title was FMF's but we are on a roll now, I can see

I had a horrible day yesterday, but did not succumb to the chocolate chip cookies even though they were staring me in the face.

Today so far not so good - big mad rush this morning to get dd ready for day out and me ready for work, so only tea and a slice of wholemeal toast so far.

Going to have salad and fruit salad for lunch, not sure yet about tonight but it will involve mushrooms and celery at least.

talcy0 · 20/06/2007 14:48

got a corking headache......pear, cherries, blueberry and pomegranette juice....later,....celery, mushrooms, lettuce, tomatoes cucumber, olives.
=12 f&v

There is a rather nice looking tub hagen daz choc chip ice cream calling me in the freezer.

TooTicky · 20/06/2007 16:11

Hazel Malt Crunch cereal for breakfast with pumpkin seeds. Tempeh rasher, avocado and tomato sandwich for lunch. A brazil nut.
Am Extremely tired as Aviatrix rather naughtily lured me to an organic seed place late last night where I spent some time drooling, dreaming and mentally extending the veg patch.
Oh, and dd2 has only just started her nap so goodness only knows how much sleep I will get tonight.

How marvellous you all are

Talcy erm thanks for the poo bulletin You WILL feel better so soon, I promise.

FMF how are you finding not drinking?

Lullaby who cooks all this food? If it is you, how do you keep being arsed to do it?

Aviatrix - The Wicker Man! THE WICKER MAN! OMG you have to see The Wicker Man (it is a film and utterly superb)

Nanny sorry you had such a terrible day. How wise you are to resist the siren song of the chocolate chip cookie in your hour of travail. A lesson I could do with learning myself.

LOL at TooT up all night looking at allotment erotica. Plus The Brazil Nut

Dior we will all still be here waiting to welcome you with open arms. Probably

Oh forgot to put what I have had

breakfast as discussed, then apple and pear for a snack, fruity couscous thing (contained some raisins and cranberries and about 2 chickpeas), a shepherd's pie with lentils (2 portions at least), carrot, mushroom, onion, and cauliflower on the side

Cycled about 3 miles with a big whopping child on the back

OP posts:
Lullabyloo · 20/06/2007 18:26

He is however a serious swimmer, runs miles & spends 2 hrs in the gym everyday

TooTicky · 20/06/2007 18:27

Do all your dcs eat as sensibly as you'd like them to? Could we maybe share some tips on getting dcs to eat a little more variety? Mine all have great enthusiasms, but for different things.
Dd1 is quite adventurous, considering she used to be terribly fussy.
Ds1 gets very excited about most cooked veg, eats masses of fruit but hates most soup and is a mushroom and tomato phobic.
Ds2 used to eat everything, then ate virtually nothing, now does okay but occasionally has to be fed
Dd2 is a delight and eats everything I do, except awkward things like nuts.
They are all scared of beans and squash. Lentils have to be well hidden.

FrannyandZooey · 20/06/2007 18:28

So he leaves your stuff and cooks his own? Really?
