Marne · 14/06/2007 15:36

14/15

LaDiDaDi · 14/06/2007 15:36

I was 9.
Other things to think about, not necessarily to answer here, are does she have pubic hair development and lso does she get tummy pains?

I ask about the pubic hair just to check that all other aspects of her development are normal and about the tummy pains because I've encountered at least two young girls who were similar to your dd who had a condition called haematocolpos where they have a completey intact tough hymen so there are actually having periods but no blood is getting out iyswim. Unusual but worth thinking about as a possibility if she has crampy pains that you'd otherwise think of as period pains.

electra · 14/06/2007 15:37

I was 14

  1. My mum was 16 and had irregular periods right up until she was pg with me. As long as she is developing normally in other respects i.e. height and weight, I don't think you should worry yet. Having said that, a chat with your school nurse if there is one or even your GP might be reassuring.

I was just over 15 - but then was too embarrised to tell my mum and handled it all on my own until I was 18. She ended up taking me to the doctor, I had an examination and still didn't tell her until the next day. I told her I started that night! And confessed a few years later! Silly I know but I found the whole thing hugely embarrising. Hope my daughter is not as shy as I was.

colditz · 14/06/2007 20:25

11 or 12. Perfectly healthy mate of mine was 17.

laymon · 14/06/2007 22:20

smoggie · 15/06/2007 06:39

16!
I was desperate to be the same as everyone else, but as I was such a skinny thing I was late to start.

carol3 · 15/06/2007 06:46

Wow didnt expect quire so many replies. Shes developed eleswhere yes and she does get tummy pains quite a lot.Sometimes she actually vomits but i just put it down to other things usually.
Ill run it past my gp next time i see him but i think shes got plenty of time yet now. Its just that if she was very small i could understandbut shes not. Shes a b cup bra now and got a lovely girly figure. Think ill just chill out and hope she doesn`t start on her watersports trip in france next month !

I was 13 I think. Remember running up the street shouting "I'm a woman!!" to my mates

Ulysees · 15/06/2007 09:41

fakeblonde if she's anything like the rest of us it's guaranteed she'll start at the watersports Us women are fated!!

newlifenewname · 15/06/2007 09:46

I was 11. Apparently the bust comes first but it isn't until pubic hair starts to grow that you can expect their periods to be around the corner.

This was from a friend whose daughter is just growing breasts and the mother asked her GP what to expect.

magnolia1 · 15/06/2007 09:49

I was 11, dd1 is 11 and started a few months ago, my mum was 13, my sisters were 12 and 13.
I had 2 friends at school who were shapely in figure ect.... 1 started at 16 and the other at 17 so don't worry to much. A chat t the doctor will probably put your mind at rest

fakeblonde · 15/06/2007 09:50

Put she`s had pubic hair for years ?
I think prob about 5yrs -she got them at primary.

newlifenewname: Not sure about the bust coming 1st, I'm still waiting for mine

wobblywibblyknicks · 15/06/2007 09:52

I was just 16, and not very happy because everyone else had started 3 years before.

magnolia1 · 15/06/2007 09:53

You do sound worried and if Im honest I would be a little concerned so do take a rip with her to the doctor althogh I suspec they will say to wait a bit longer before doing anything

magnolia1 · 15/06/2007 09:53

ok take a trip not a rip

newlifenewname · 15/06/2007 09:55

Maybe it would be worth checking out then? Does she have all other signs of puberty? Hips, breasts, oily skin, change in body odour?

I vaguely remember friend saying something about hereditary trend as well - how old were you?

Blackduck · 15/06/2007 09:59

I was 12, but my mum was 16..
