For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information if you follow the link at the very bottom of the page

ooh, I like the sound of a sweetboard. Probably couldn't eat much off it at the moment though. Hope you have a nice time.

I'm also a little perturbed by the statement, 'most of us don't have room for much else after all the f and v'.

I have a lot of room left. My portions are beside other food, quite a lot of other food

lionheart · 16/06/2007 21:11

Sweetboard sounds like an excellent idea.

An awful lot of birthdays around these here parts.

Mrscarrot · 16/06/2007 21:14

Good luck with the party, Lionhart, I think they're lovely when it's at home, if a little messy

Thanks MrsCarrot, it was lovely and the rain held off so the children were able to charge around the garden for a bit.

Do you have to make a decision soon, aviatrix?

TooTicky · 16/06/2007 22:45

A positive school experience can be excellent though - ds2 has the nicest teacher in the world ever. But I know that many schools leave a lot to be desired and that I am a potential home edder who has found that in this situation, there is no need. Good luck to all of you making this decision.
I have eaten ratatouille, carrot and parsnip soup and a big plum.
Ds2 went to a party today and got a kite in his party bag so we went to fly it - he is such a dear little thing and let dd1, ds1 and dd2 all have a go. Then the older 3 spent some time scrambling about on this
Really good to get out for the afternoon

lionheart · 16/06/2007 23:16

That is a very impressive beast.

TooTicky · 16/06/2007 23:17

Even better in the flesh. Or in the chalk

FrannyandZooey · 17/06/2007 09:44

Right

THE SWEETBOARD

There was half a chocolate mud pie (not fab, a bit dry), some strawberries and cream, a kind of berry frozen mousse thing, and roasted fruit salad which was Delicious

I also had melon with lavender infused berries to start with, absolutely gorgeous, and some veg with the main course (mange tout, broccoli and carrots). It was quite a 10 / 10ish meal really

MrsC, well I think in other people's opinion I probably eat tons as well. But eating loads of f + v does IMO leave you feeling less snacky all the time and maybe craving more healthy things than otherwise. However I am not breastfeeding a whopping big baby

Have had strawberries, pineapple, pear, raisins and 2 kiwis for breakfast. Am going to a Hawaiian party later

lionheart · 17/06/2007 10:16

A roasted fruit salad?

TooTicky · 17/06/2007 10:18

I want to try melon with lavender infused berries. Now. And roasted fruit salad.

FrannyandZooey · 17/06/2007 10:22

I know! It was truly fab. There was pear, physalis, orange, and some other stuff I couldn't identify. Some really deep and sweet tastes in there. I think it maybe had been roasted in juice, or maybe a syrup - or perhaps that was just the caramelised effect from the roasting? It was a great pudding, anyway - I almost wish I had just had a full portion of that, because it was the best thing on the sweetboard.

Yes yes yes new thread title is COMING, I have it all lined up

well I am working on it

well, I am stuck actually

At Hawaiian party, had veg kebab with peppers, aubergine, mushroom and tomatoes, melon, and erm...quite a lot of cake to be frank

have just been to gym - 10 mins on cross trainer and quick blast round weights (they were closing)

don't know what to have for dinner and dp is looking mutinous. He got covered in glitter face paint at the party and it won't wash off his beard

OP posts:
Mrscarrot · 17/06/2007 21:11

at glitter on the beard!!

How about The Terrific Ten by E.M Fruit {now available in large portions)

oh alright that's crap, but something along the lines of book title maybe?

Me too, Aviatrix, I'm ok with ten fruits, mostly, 26 sounds like a challenge!!

strawbs, raspberries, kiwi, grapes, bluberries for breakfast, cucumber, chives, greens and coleslaw for lunch, dried apricots, purple sprouting, greenbeans, carrots with dinner. Apple. Cherries in choc!

Planted some seeds and lettuce today in growbags. Not quite up to all your allotment standards but it was fun. We have some strawberries now too.

FrannyandZooey · 17/06/2007 21:14

shall we try to do 26 things on the next thread for anyone that wants to then? I kind of feel if we start a splinter group it could all get quite messy

I like your book title suggestion MrsC, I am sure the perfect thread title is bubbling away just beneath the surface of our subconsciousnesses

OP posts:
Mrscarrot · 17/06/2007 21:20

yes, I would find having to think of titles all the time very stressful. I considered journalism as a career but am no good at punchy headlines! I waffle far too much...

I agree, a splinter group could be confusing. I think I can only manage the ten thing regularly although could maybe do more on the days with more energy you know. Think LO is having a growth spurt, seems to be feeding constantly, almost every hour last night that's very unusual though.

FrannyandZooey · 17/06/2007 21:25

Oh MrsC that is tough, I remember it well

I am like a stuck record but would you consider trying the superfood supplement that I take? I find I am needing a lot less sleep which surprised me

OP posts:
Mrscarrot · 17/06/2007 21:27

which one, the algae combo?

FrannyandZooey · 17/06/2007 21:43

yes

my friend who sells it also has an all night breastfeeder and she always looks radiant

OP posts:
Mrscarrot · 17/06/2007 21:48

ah, she is your friend now

Tell me what it is again? Going to bed now though as he's awake again. Sigh. I'll have a look tomorrow, thanks.

filthymindedvixen · 17/06/2007 21:49
