For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information if you follow the link at the very bottom of the page

Tooticky- it is a fab shop, and actually today there will be a farmer's market there.

yum!

We had a hog roast at oour wedding, Franny, it went down a storm, but we did do plenty for the vegis.

Huge berry salad so far, amd have noticed I'm a few pounds lighter, hurray!

TooTicky · 10/06/2007 11:28

MrsC And Norwich? It could hardly be less convenient. Humph.

Oh bugger. Any money is too much atm but 100-500 seems unattainable. Ah well, will take solace in my veggie patch.

tick there are ways and means with the OU

i don't know what your income is like, but if you are on income support or (I think) working tax credits, you get reduced or 0 fees.

There are also often schemes for people with no post-16 (pos 18? ) qualifications, i think

they also have grants and you can apply for those.

from what i know of your situation, i think you stand a good chance of getting some funding at least.

TooTicky · 10/06/2007 22:32

Thanks Filly, I may look into it. Do they do a writing course? [drool]
Have eaten butternut squash roasted with sage and onion with rice, and some mango. That's all today really, apart from a couple of pre-licked oatcakes this morning. I have financial worry induced tummy ache

FrannyandZooey · 11/06/2007 09:22

Can we keep this thread going until Tatties sees my title? Or is she not back till next week?

Sorry about tummy ache, TooT. If I can help with ideas for children's group at all I would be happy to.

I am eating pear, raisins, kiwi and TWO peaches....heaven

OP posts:
TooTicky · 11/06/2007 11:22

I think Tatties is away for a fortnight but I can't remember when she went.
Thanks Franny. I'm sort of thinking along the lines of something I could do within an existing playgroup/toddler group. Y'know, hop about and do a session here and there. Dd2 would love it. But I have to think of something I could do that is different or exciting enough. And that isn't being done already. Any ideas gratefully received...

FrannyandZooey · 11/06/2007 12:10

Oh woe at Tatties being away for a fortnight

what a time for me to come up with the best thread title of my life

she's in Cornwall IIRC

TooT how would you charge for this, if it was within an existing group?

OP posts:
TooTicky · 11/06/2007 13:51

I was thinking the group would pay. I think the majority of groups in this area are affluent enough to do the odd special session.

FrannyandZooey · 11/06/2007 16:03

Really? Gosh.

I have eaten beetroot and carrot.

OP posts:
TooTicky · 11/06/2007 20:15

Well, the playgroup here can and there are a lot of similar villages - perhaps I am being too optimistic. Still don't know quite what I could do anyway.
Have eaten cold squash and rice, and tomato/garlic/onion/courgette/squash sauce with rice. Started frying some squash pancakes but they're not really working so am going to add more flour and bake it as cake.

Mrscarrot · 11/06/2007 20:35

Tooticky- They do indeed have writing courses at the OU.

They didn't when I was there, which is one of the reasons I went somewhere else, but I think they've had them for a while now. Why don't you ask for a prospectus?

I've had banana, cucumber, spring onions, butter bean stew with carrots, peppers, celery, courgettes and mushrooms. Nectarine, cherries and apple. I think I could have half a point for Nigella's clementine cake, there are sooo many oranges in it. Dairy and wheat free too!

FrannyandZooey · 11/06/2007 21:05

I have had butternut squash, lentils, onions and asparagus

and BEEN TO THE GYM

I did 10 mins cycling, 10 mins cross trainer and lots of weights

nothing spectacular but I did go and I felt ruddy marvellous afterwards

Greensleeves · 11/06/2007 21:12

shouldn't this be a new thread?

I have been bloody appalling the past two days. Yesterday I consumed an egg mato sarnie and three quarters of a tuna sarnie, and about 4 raspberries. Today I have had two bowls of muesli (admittedly quite good non-sugary muesli, with mixed seeds on top and orange juice on). Will Try To Do Better Tomorrow.

FrannyandZooey · 11/06/2007 21:13

If you READ the thread Greeny I am keeping this one up until Ms Tatties sees it...although I have now been informed she is not back till next week so I suppose I will have to do another one

Bother

OP posts:
Greensleeves · 11/06/2007 21:19

Of course I'm not going to read it, have you SEEN how long it is?!? I have Things To Do, parties to arrange, delicious nibbles to make, that sort of thing

It is a damn fine title though, I'll give you that.

Had a naughty boozy day on Sunday and the only veg was a few miniscule carrot and pepper sticks from the fried buffet!

Contrite and hungover yesterday meant I made a veg filled dinner last night, Greek salad with raw carrot and mushroom and a home made aioli for me!

Just had my banana and looking forward to some healthy fresh food later today. Have you noticed how much you crave your healthy food when you've been eating stodge?

My son and husband ate a huge bowl of peaches while I was out on Sunday leaving one mouldy one for me but at least they are healthy

FrannyandZooey · 12/06/2007 08:23

at the peach greeders

that would be a serious offence in my house
