Your recommendations for 'up tempo' tunes for ipods to improve our motivation and pace when running / exercising

I have belatedly got an Ipod and found that it has made a massive difference to my running (it seems more effortless when I have good music to listen to, especially 'up tempo' stuff)...

Here are some of my suggestions for music to 'get your pace up' - what are yours?:

Underground Spell: Born Slippy
Whale:Hobo Humping Slobo babe
Run DMC: Walk this way
Run DMC: It's like that
Blur: Song 2
Faithless: Insomnia
PF Project: Choose Life
U.S.U.R.A: Open Your Mind

Would appreciate some other suggestions to add to playlists for my running....

Fat boy slim - can't remember the name, but the one that goes "Up the tempo" funnily enough, and had the video with things being blown up.

tortoiseSHELL · 05/05/2007 22:05

tortoiseSHELL · 05/05/2007 22:06

oh I need these - I must sort my ipod out and get it back off my bloody son

Marina · 05/05/2007 22:07

If you fancy some classical, Philip Glass and Steve Reich are worth considering

rowan1971 · 05/05/2007 22:07

My current gym faves are: loads of stuff from first Arctic Monkeys album; Tricky - Black Steel; Marina Shaw - California Soul; Justice Vs Simian - We Are Your Friends; Strokes - Last Nite; White Stripes - Hotel Yorba; Spiller - If This Ain't Love.

CuriousSquid · 05/05/2007 22:08

my playlist includes fratelli's -flat head ,creeping up the backstairs and chelsea dagger. Also got girls aloud - walk this way (more pop-y for me!),

FrannyandZooey · 05/05/2007 22:09

Bentley Rhythm Ace is extremely good, and Dreadzone

I also have Song 2 on mine - it's my "walking to the gym" tune

tortoiseSHELL · 05/05/2007 22:09

Oh, Girls Aloud, Jump - always reminds me of that fantastic bit in Love Actually with Hugh Grant - v sexy I think at that point!

FrannyandZooey · 05/05/2007 22:10

ooh Black Steel superb rowan

Marina · 05/05/2007 22:10

Oooh, travesty. It has to be the Run DMC version cranked up really loud
The Only Ones, Another Girl, Another Planet
Blondie - Atomic
Propaganda - Dr Mabuse

tortoiseSHELL · 05/05/2007 22:11

The Chain (Grand Prix theme) - get those motors revving

FrannyandZooey · 05/05/2007 22:11

Art Brut also very good but not recommended for weights as you may laugh too hard and drop something on your foot

noddyholder · 05/05/2007 22:12

Madonna the last album is brilliant for exercise

tortoiseSHELL · 05/05/2007 22:12

Ride on Time (sorry can't remember who it's by)
Bitter Sweet Symphony, if you want to be annoyed for weeks afterwards by having it going round your head

and the classic WASSSUP!

Marina · 05/05/2007 22:13

My crank-up tunes are
Iggy Pop - The Passenger
Edwyn Collins - a girl like you

lucy5 · 05/05/2007 22:13

I think almost any clash song would be good. I used to live at the top of a very big hill and always got up it far quicker if I had The Clash on my walkman.

CuriousSquid · 05/05/2007 22:13

my warm up tune (well my end of warm up starting to run tune) is dixie chicks i can love you better... mid tempo so makes sure i don't rush into things
